Blaze Batti

Bolt sighed, and pushed up his glasses. He narrowly missed the foot of a Torken, and swore under his breath. Oh, he had wanted ALL the knowledge, and look where it got him! Nearly trampled  by the bigger folks. In fact, if he didn't hurry, he would be late for a doctor's meeting. Checking his tiny pocket watch, he sighed.

"Oh me, oh my. If I don't hurry, I'll surely die!" He yelled, darting from a large shoe.

"Mama says my size is a gift, but I'm sure it's a curse! And alls well with her, she's a Torken! But if I don't hurry, this will surely be worse! And I sure hope this clock's a workin!"

Grunting, the disgruntled little fellow trudged on.

Spirit/Pet: Bat (Mirror -Nick: Meer-)

There was a small rush of wind and a flash of brown hair...then two hands reached down and scooped up the small Batti. The girl ran through the crowd and jumped onto a canopy, then a roof. She stopped and looked down at her hands, at the batti. She said nothing, but cocked her head. A bat appeared behind her head and chirped somthing in her ear. Then a Peacer Fellox appeared and looked at the batti as well. "Late, my friend?" she asked, her voice having a musical ring to it...as if she were singing.

Bolt hollered as he was picked up, shouted as they bounced up, and didn't stop until the girl and her Fellox stopped moving. He fixed his broken brown glasses, and blinked twice at her.

"Well, yes I'm late. Oh can't you see? I have a..well...date with destiny!" He said.

Regaining his compsure, he forced a charming smile.

"I'm sorry, why am I so rude? My name is Bolt, and I'm a poet. But not right now, as seeing you. It's a habit for me really, oh yes, it's true!"

The girl inclined her head gently. "I am Echo. This is my spirit pet, Mirror, or Meer as she likes to be called." Her voice was quiet and seemed to have an echo to it...perhaps that's where her name came from? Beside her the fellox inclined her head as well. "I was almost named Melody, but unfortunately, t'was named Aurora instead." she spoke in her odd musical voice. The bat, Meer, swooped and hung from Echo's ear. "Where is it you must go? We can help you find your way." Aurora asked Bolt. Meanwhile, Echo was scanning the crowd. "Such a small creature, amongst others so big...bravery? Or foolishness?" she whispered, almost drowned out by the noise on the streets of the city below.

The Batti nodded at them both, before huffing at Echo.

"Well, Miss Echo, I'd like to let you know it was neither of those traits. I just want to get to my seminar on poisons on time. I'm teaching, you know."

He sounded very proud of himself.

"And if you would like to come, so be it, but I will not tolerate your spookiness."

He glanced quickly and nervously at the Peacer Fellox.

Echo looked sharply at the small Batti and Meer dropped off her ear to flap around Bolt. Aurora shifted uneasily. "Spooky...? Echo is just a quiet type and I...well, how am I spooky?" she spoke. Then she went to the edge of the roof and looked around at the buildings. "Where is this seminar? We could get you there on time. The roofs are the best way to go...and the fastest." she half-sang.

The Batti snorted at her comments. He had MANY fears, and he could recognize spookiness wherever it may lie.

"It's at the edge of the city, in a really high class place."

He ajusted his glasses.

"And if you please, I do not like bouncing along roofs. It's most childish. And besides, I'm afraid of heights. That's why I was yelling when you lifted me into the air."

Aurora turned around. "What do you suggest? Getting trampled?" she asked. Then she looked at the Batti curiously. "A Batti...afraid of heights?" she asked. Then she looked up at Echo and mouthed something. The two could lip-read and Echo nodded. Then she muttered a 'hang on' to Bolt before jumping into an alley. Behind them, Aurora weaved her way down using balconies, pipes, and ladders...or any other solid object clinging to a wall. She came to a stop on a balcony just above them, with Meer fluttering just above. "We can navigate the alleys and keep clear of the crowd if you want. Of course, we'll have to cross the streets every now and then, since crowds are unavoidable in the city...with the exception of rooftops." she said and smiled at Bolt as she mentioned rooftops.

Bolt shouted as they hopped within the alleys.

"STOP, STOP IT RIGHT NOW!" He yelled, jumping out of her arms.

Turning around, he panted and pulled out an inhaler. Taking a few puffs, he breathed deeply and turned to glare.

"Listen you too, have you ever thought of taking public transportation instead of all this jumping? Take a look at life and it's risks once in a while!"

Wow, he actually...shouted? One of his fears?

Echo stopped and turned. She glared at Bolt, her eyes going cold. "Typical for a creature of Light to say." she said, then shut her mouth instantly, her eyes going wider as she realized what she had just said. Aurora shifted on a pipe nervously and looked to the Shadows. "Let's hope Jaden didn't hear that." she said, then she jumped down in front of the Batti. "We are connected with the Shadows...what is there to fear?" she asked him, and smiled. "When you're with other people who know what they're doing, shouldn't your fears be quelled?"
Wait a minute...she smiled?

Bolt stared coldly back at the girl.

"You may think it's okay to travel with shadows, but I rather think you're cold heart cannot stand the Light and Happiness of others. You stand depressed but cannot realize the good things in life."

Turning to the Fellox, he couldn't help but smile.

"I apologize to YOU for my behavior. I have been afraid of my fears for so long, it's hard to keep them at bay. But, would you mind if I rode with you. You seem like my type, more to say."

He blushed and quickly added,

"For traveling of course!"

Echo scoffed. "That sounds more like Shatter...a Penticorn back at home. The truth is, you only half of it. Yes, there is light and dark in emotions but I talk of the ancient war between Light and Shadows. They are both alive, and are almost seperate kingdoms. You are a creature of light...you were born and raised in the Light. We are creatures of Shadow who live in the light. Or rather, Aurora is. I am a clone of Jaden, the master of Shadows. She used Shadow to create me, so I am Shadow..." she trailed off and stared down the alley, thinking. Meer flapped down to hang from her ear again.
Aurora glanced over at Echo before smiling at Bolt. "Yes, you can ride on my back. Will you go in the alley? It really not so dangerous during the day...and for us, at night too." she said, and crouched down so Bolt could get on her back easier.

Bolt glared.

"I do not know who Shatter is, nor do I care. But where I am teaching has no use for the likes of you, so shape up some!"

Smiling back at the Fellox, he took a deep breath and gulped.

"Well, here I go."

He slowly made his way over to Fellox's back, breathing deeply as he did so.

"Oh myyy, heights...." He fainted.

Aurora's head wipped around. He fainted! She sighed and postitioned him on her back safely. Then she stood and looked at Echo. "I guess he will wake soon...he only fainted." she said, and recieved a scoff in return. The two started to run down the alley, twisting and turning in the maze of buildings. Slowly they made their way to the are that Bolt had mentioned.
Then Aurora began to sing. She sang a soft melody from war time. "Underneath the lantern, by the barrack gate...Darling I remember, the way you used to wait. There beneath the calm of lantern light, I'd hold you tight, we'd kiss goodnight..." she kept on singing, her voice hitting every key perfectly. Beside her, Echo closed her eyes, the shadows guiding her way, and her footsteps in tune with Aurora's song.

Bolt awoke with a jult to a sweet song. He hadn't noticed they were moving, so he settled along Aurora's glowing, blue fur. Taking the song in more, a sudden click came in on his brain. His eyes swirling, he got up robotically to stand on Aurora's back. Turning, he prepared to jump.

He had been hypnotized.
