It was dark in the cave and the coral glowed brightly, lighting a path. There were many tunnels, but Sakana stayed straight to avoid getting lost. Before long she came to a part where the cave ceiling broke away to nothingness. Sakana had no need for to come up for air because of the potion, but she did anyway. The cave had broken off into a room of sorts and the moon shown brightly in the sky. The large cave looked like a small pool from the surface. She pulled herself onto a ledge and gasped the fresh air. Usually, the air would feel foreign on her skin, preferring the water. In here, it felt good.

The pools edge licked at the stone gently. Salt rolled off the water and into the air. It was that sweet and salty scent that many tried to bottle for perfumes, but none had ever truly succeeded. It had been too long since Sakana had last slept. She found a small pool in a crevice of the ledge that contained a small amount of water. She laid down and finally shut her eyes. In her dreams, she saw brightly colored fish, coral, and plants all under a light blue water. It was a common dream for her, but she took comfort in knowing that even when she opened her eyes it would all still be there.

When she woke it was still dark, but not quite morning.

The seaweed! Sakana worried.

In her tired state she had forgotten to gather any. Sakana quickly dove into the pool, but found none. She had to go back out the entrance of the cave to gather some. After gathering the seaweed Sakana checked to see if the fisherman had returned early. He had not. It was expected, as he told Sakana he may even be late due to his travels to the sea witch. Sakana needed a place to store the seaweed if she was going to hunt so she returned back to the cave and placed the seaweed upon the ledge.

The sun had risen at this point and shown onto the cave walls. They sparkled brightly, different stones embedded within. The stones in the wall reminded Sakana of the stars in the night sky. It was beautiful.

Is this home? thought Sakana. Under the water had always felt like home. This place had just a small patch for her to breathe in that fresh ocean air, but was mostly water. She doubted she could make the swim here without a potion to help her take in oxygen as she swam through the cave to this place.

Please, thought Sakana. Please let me get my wish. Let me stay.

Suddenly, Sakana saw something fall from the top of the cave and into the pool with a yelp. Something had wandered off the edge above and into the cave. Sakana's heart quickened at the sound of the yelp. This creature may not be able to swim. She worried for only a moment that this thing could possible drag her down with it if she jumped in after it. Then, she made the choice to go after it. Sakana dove in the water after the creature intending to save it.
