"Why am I always the one doing this stuff?" Gyre grumbled. He looked wistfully over at the playground full of children. They all seemed to be having so much fun, and here he was stuffing eggs into any space that would accept them. His one claw was piled high with eggs, and the other was chucking them at any place that looked decent enough to hold them. After all, the eggs weren't supposed to be hard to find, at least not the ones for the kids.

Gyre looked around to make sure nobody was watching him. He was, indeed, entirely alone. Nobody wanted to spoil his excellent hiding spots. He grinned and his forked tongue flickered out. It was time for a little reward. Hiding eggs was hard work, and he really did deserve it.

Gyre dumped his pile of eggs out on the ground to inspect them. He wasn't there when they were being filled, but he did help purchase the goodies that went inside. Some of them contained his precious favorite candy. He shook the eggs, one after another. The ones that made no noise were of no use to him. Ones that crinkled were obviously wrapped bits of chocolate. Some even made a soft clicking noise from the plastic toy inside hitting the edges. The ones he was after made a solid rattling sound. Many hard candies clicked against each other and the plastic of the egg.

"Bingo!" he chirped, grabbing an egg and splitting it open. Before it could see the light of day, he dumped it down his gullet and grabbed another. "No, no, no, yes!" He was becoming much faster at determining which eggs contained the goods.

"Gyre!" the shouting female voice came from behind a tree. The little dragon froze still and his face filled with terror. It was none other than his older sister, Midnight. While he wished he could run away, or at least tidy up his huge mess, he found himself unable to do anything but stare guiltily at her.

"I can't believe you! You agreed to help us, not to eat all of the candy for yourself!" Midnight said sternly.

"I'm sorry!" he whimpered. "I couldn't help myself! I could hear the candies rolling around in there and I just had to try some!"

"Some? You look like you've eaten the whole lot! What if those are also the favorite candy of the fillies and colts coming out to look for these eggs?" Her voice was soft yet stern, like a mother's might be.

"I... I guess I didn't think about that," Gyre admitted, looking down in shame.

"I'm sure you didn't. Now help me clean this mess up. We can at least get all of the other eggs out on the field for them to enjoy."

"Yes, ma'am!"

Gyre dutifully started picking up the eggs, carefully piling the ones still with prizes in his off hand. It was actually pretty impressive how many he managed to stack without dropping them. The pile must have been bigger than he was!

"Uh, Midnight? What do I do with... these," he said, pointing to the pile of broken, empty eggs that scattered the area.

"Put them in here," Midnight instructed, holding out a bag for him to fill. "When we get home, you're going to do enough chores to pay off every single one of these." Gyre didn't look happy about that arrangement, but he knew he deserved it.
