In contrast to the Dead Coast, Sa'fir Coast is jokingly referred to as the world's largest pepper deposit because of its black sand beaches. They attract tourists, who can enjoy the tropical landscape of Barakka without facing its harsh environments. (+2 Endurance)

Meu swam up to him now that he was actually in the water, and bumped his chest with her head. Nimbus responded by rubbing her belly as she floated past. Her fur always felt so strange when it was wet. It was really fascinating to him that a creature covered in such thick fur was so good in the water. It didn't slow her down at all. Underneath all the fluff, her skin was well insulated. His fur was not nearly as nice when it came to getting wet.

"See? I made it," he reassured. She began to actively swim around him, bobbing in and out of the water playfully. Every time she passed, he would run his hand along whatever part of her was available. Though he was careful to avoid her sharp spines. It only took one accidental jab for him to learn that lesson.

"Now that we're here, what shall we do next?" Nimbus asked. Though he didn't get to finish his question before Meu disappeared into the water. Not that it mattered much. It wasn't like she understood a single word he said. This was a fact he seldom seemed to remember. Or he just liked having 'someone' to talk to.

The Likuta had disappeared for longer than usual, so he looked down to see what she was doing. The water was moving around too much for him to tell for sure. All he could see was her bright pink body against the black rocks below them. He wondered what it was she could be doing down there. She was such an odd little creature sometimes. It was hard to tell for sure just what was going on in her head.

After some time fishing around in the water, Meu finally surfaced. In each of her paws she held a small rock. First she held the one on the left up to look at it in the light, then the one on the right. She balanced one against the other to see which weighed more. Then, she unceremoniously dumped them back into the water. Rocks were serious business indeed.

"I don't think you're ever going to find it," Nimbus said softly. Though she couldn't even hear him, since she had already poked her head back into the water to look for more. He had to wonder what it was with the rocks. What was her criteria for the perfect rock? Maybe if he knew he could try to help or something, but he didn't.

Without warning, Meu took off along the shoreline. It seemed that something caught her attention, but Nimbus hadn't seen it. Though she was a much faster swimmer and had a head start, he decided to follow after her. It didn't feel safe to let her get too far from him. Though in the water, it was more likely to be him that needed protecting. Likuta were not very big creatures, but between their fangs and spines they could put up quite a fight. A person, on the other hand, could at best only flail about hoping not to drown.

It hadn't occurred to him that they were leaving his gear behind. If he wasn't careful, they may never be able to find their way back to it. It wasn't exactly easy to retrace their steps, so to speak.

In a flash, he lost sight of his fluffy pink friend. Nimbus thought he had a good eye on her, but she was just too fast for him. He righted himself in the water to take a look around. One would think that her bright pink fur would stand out against the black rocks and dark water, but he couldn't see her anywhere. He plunked his head under the water to look around. Though he could barely under water, he took a chance that the new angle would help him. No luck there, either.

"Meu? Sweetie?" he cooed, hoping that she would respond to the familiar call. If she could even hear it wherever she was...

Suddenly, Nimbus found himself underwater with no idea how he got there. He twisted and turned under the surface. His arms flailed around in the water, desperately trying to find which direction was up. When he felt air on his paws, he kicked in that direction until his head broke the surface. Though he was only stuck for a few moments, he gasped for air like he had never breathed before in his life. Normally he was quite calm under water, but it was entirely different when he wasn't expecting it.

When he finally managed to compose himself, he felt something on his shoulder. Thinking it must be some kind of horrible sea monster, he gasped loudly and tried to shake it off. His mind was still in panic mode from his near drowning experience, so he didn't think to look what it was at first.

His hand felt something soft and oddly familiar. Slowly the thoughts clicked into place and he was able to understand what was happening. It was just Meu! She must have jumped on him to surprise him. It sure worked, too. Nimbus stopped flailing about and shook his head. Finally his sight and senses came back to him.

Meu chewed playfully on the hand that had grabbed at her. His startled reaction had in turn startled her. Not that she would learn her lesson, of course. This was far too exciting not to do again! Though she would have to wait until he wasn't expecting it. It was not too often that such an opportunity arose. He was awfully diligent for someone who didn't seem to pay much attention.

"You sure got me," Nimbus said. He smiled down at her nibbling away at his hand. She was just too cute to stay mad at. Though he was hardly mad to begin with. More like really surprised. It took a lot to make him mad. Besides, she was just too cute to be mad at anyway.

"We should head back," he said, rubbing her head with his free hand. He was starting to get tired of swimming, though he doubted that Meu felt the same. Almost drowning took quite a toll on him. Beyond that, he wasn't too keen on being away from his bag for so long. There was some important stuff in there that he'd rather not lose. Not that he expected anyone to take it. There didn't seem to be anyone around for miles. Just the way he liked it.

By the time they returned to the rock where they got in the water, Nimbus was exhausted. The surf wasn't too rough, but it was enough to tire him out more than he expected. They were out longer than he realized, too. With all of that, he was ready to take a nice long nap. There was no time for that, though.

Meu, on the other hand, was perfectly happy bobbing around in the water forever. This was where she belonged. On land, her thick tail dragged behind her, slowing her down. In the water, however, it was perfectly adapted to help her swim. She would probably never leave the water if there weren't so many interesting things out there for her to explore.

Looking at the rocks from this angle, he realized they had a problem. It was easy enough to jump down into the water from up there, but now that they were in the water, getting back up was going to be more difficult. Nimbus' ears drooped as he looked up to his bag sitting among the rocks. He spent a few moments surveying the rocks and considering the possible routes back up.

Well, there was only one way to find out what was going to work. He reached his paw up and grabbed a stable looking rock. After testing it a few times, he pulled his weight onto it. His paws began to slip off the wet surface and a panicked look shot across his face. He wildly flailed his legs until his feet met a sturdy rock to brace himself on.

The clear waters of Sa'fir offered a grand view to those who chose to venture into the reefs. Colorful corals sprawled out for hundreds of meters in places. Little fish darted in and out, though most are quick to hide if anything should approach. A few larger fish swam through the waters with more boldness, however they had caught the attention of something... much larger. A small reef shark had been drawn in by the movement, and it advanced on a smaller fish with it's maw parted and teeth bared. But suddenly a strange black Celestial Mist rolled along the sea floor, moving straight for the shark. The predator quickly turned tail and fled to hunt prey in safer waters, and the mist vanished as suddenly as it had appeared.
