Finally, finally, he was given the shore leave he so desperately needed. It had only been four standard years since the last time he was given any real leave of duty. He intended to spend it as far away from civilized society as possible. So here he was sunbathing in a folding chair on a rocky beach on some unknown planet soaking up the sun. He was blissfully alone and cut off from contact from the galaxy at large.

Ceres sighed with a smile on his face as he looked out at the ocean. The choppy waves that crashed against the rocky shore a peaceful lullaby that soothed his frayed nerves. Yes, this was paradise.

Strange sea birds circled overhead, their calls mixing with the waves. Ceres fished a water canteen from a small rough bag at his side and gulped down some water as he watched the birds. The creatures here were odd compared to other places he had been. They almost seemed sentient at times, but others so beast-like. He wasn't sure if they had true intelligence or not.

A bird turned to look at him from above and let out a complicated call. Was it perhaps langauge, a lot simply a very complicated call? Whatever it was he quickly stuffed his canteen back in his bag and pulled his wide brimmed hat further down over his face.
