"A beach with black sands," Lana said, looking around the region. "Well, that's one thing that hasn't changed with the loss of color - the sand is still definitely black," she said.

"Yes, but the water is also almost black, and the sky is grey, and... well, everything else is some shade of grey," Xyshari said, nudging some of the black sand with her foot. "...I swear, every time we find a new color, and then we leave and we can't see it anymore, it just..."

"Makes it hurt even more, I know," Lana said. "There are times when I'll look into your eyes and try to remember how they looked before all of this - not that I have to try very hard," Lana said, looking towards her wife but not meeting her eyes. Xyshari smiled softly; she was relieved that her wife was so accepting of her doubtless peculiar-seeming traditions where eye contact and other such things were concerned.

However, as she looked away, she thought she caught a glance of something - a brief flash of a deep blue.

"Why don't we relax on the beach for a little bit?" Xyshari asked as she moved ahead of Lana. "We've been going for quite some time, and... we could use the rest, quite frankly," she said. Lana nodded in agreement, although she lingered behind Xyshari for a moment. Were her wife's eyes really that blue...?

"Xyshari, wait," she called, and the Cathar turned to look at her as she sat down near the shore - but far enough from the waves that she wouldn't get wet unexpectedly.

"Did you see something, Lana?" Xyshari asked. The Sith woman caught up with the Jedi, and she looked at her face in general. That was when she realized that she had, indeed, seen a flash of color in her wife's face - her eyes.

"I never realized... just how blue your eyes are, love," she said, and Xyshari sat upright, and then turning around to face her wife.

"My... eyes?" she asked. "There's color in my eyes?"

"Yes," Lana said. "It's a deep, rich blue - I'd almost call it cobalt," she said. "I never realized that they were that dark, but... maybe that's because this is the first time I'm seeing just their color, and not everything else around it," she said.

"I always thought my eyes were a lighter blue," Xyshari murmured, pulling out her datapad and polishing the screen to where she could look into it.

In the screen, two dark blue orbs looked back at her among a sea of monochrome.

"...they really ARE that blue," Xyshari said after a moment. "I never... noticed it, either, but how often do you notice these small details about yourself?" she asked. "Especially when you don't... normally look at yourself," she said, putting the datapad aside. "Wasn't there an... ocean you wanted to investigate, love?" she asked.

"Yes, the Yuunu Sea," she said. "We should be able to get a ship here to head out that way, although it will be a lengthy journey. And cold."

"Cold, huh," Xyshari said, looking out towards the sea. "I've always wondered if it would be colder out on the water than on a planet like Ilum. What do you think?" she asked, looking towards Lana. Lana's eyes met Xyshari's, and she looked into the deep, blue eyes of her wife with a sense of love in them.

"It won't be too bad," she murmured. "We'll have each other to keep warm, and our abilities in the Force, as well."

"All right, what's with the sudden staring into my eyes?" Xyshari asked, shifting almost uncomfortably. Lana almost immediately looked away, murmuring a soft apology.

"I don't know how it is for the Cathar, but we humans have a saying - they eyes are the window to your soul," she said. "And... if that's true, then I only want to see what I saw just now, because I saw comfort, acceptance, and love - unconditional love," she said. Xyshari smiled.

"Tak bulv tak gorozr'a a' ri tvy - that is how we say it."

"Everything in your language is so... elegant," Lana said. "I don't think I could ever get tired of hearing you murmur the things you do in your language." Xyshari smiled as she pressed her forehead to Lana's.

"Ra'tikaya ri," she said, her tone hushed and reverent. "Ra zhen. Ra n'en'kri. Ra stlosta. Ra cijeli," she said, projecting the meaning of her words into Lana's mind gently. My life mate. My protector. My charge. My everything.

"Ra'tikaya ri, irhifie," Lana said haltingly after a moment.

"You... you've been practicing," Xyshari said after a moment, stunned. Lana blushed - or, at least, Xyshari thought she was blushing - as she shook her head.

"I've much still to learn," she said. "But I have a lifetime to learn it from you."

"And learn you will," Xyshari said. "Maybe someday we'll be having conversations as fluently as my Padawan and I did throughout our time together," she said, standing up to walk down the beach. "Now, shall we find that ship?"
