Silver Serenade pushed open the small trapdoor in the ceiling and alit on her desk. Like a small--or possibly large--percentage of the total population of pets, she owned a sort of store. It was somewhat unusual in that it was stocked mainly with textbooks and calculators, as well as a few random objects. It didn't do much business, despite Silv's willingness to calculate math equations for a small fee. There wasn't much of a place in the world for a nervous math whiz who rarely thought of anything else.
The snapping shut of the trapdoor heralded the arrival of Silv's friend Drakot. The Jewel Batti wasn't a math fanatic like her, but they got along fine. He sat in her in tray and watched her scribble calculations for a while, then said in his quiet way, "Wouldn't you like to meet some new people?""If new people want to meet me, they know where to find me," Silv said absently. She was trying to rationalize pi, although she knew it was futile. It was a hobby.
"Well, we might attract some more people with this." Drakot carefully placd an object on the desk, then flew over to the window. He taped up a poster and came back. The poster showed a picture of the object on the desk, a jar of small stuffed animals. Below were the words:
Guess the number of items in the jar! The closest guess recieves all of them!
