Got to break free from this disease
Even though without a doubt I just want more
Life breathes from holes down deep inside
I need to find

[R]ivulets of golden sunlight coursed through between the tall, robust frames of the red-brick and wooden buildings that comprised most of the bustling town. Since dawn broke, the streets had gradually filled with all sorts of beings beginning their day's affairs; it seemed as though the town awoke from a night's slumber almost as real as that of most of its inhabitants. The ambient noise of everyday activity filled the town's streets and plazas - the shouts of street vendors advertising their goods, the conversations of citizens exchanging gossip, the raucous laughter of some of the heartier town residents. Yet, amidst all this sound, there was one who made none; a solitary figure avoided the social buzz of the town, keeping to himself. Kiya.
Piercing yellow eyes watched the town's inhabitants stream along the streets in what seemed to be an endless current. The shadow of an overhanging canopy - extending from the walls of one of the shops - concealed the male serraptor to whom the observant gaze belonged. He shifted his weight uncomfortably from one foot to the other, trying to plan his route from here. The serraptor had not wanted to come here, but it had been necessary. Kiya, in his venturing outside the town, had acquired some goods which he could make no immediate use of - thus, he had come here to sell them, and, in turn, obtain a few keystones. He lacked money, and he understood that, despite being a feral creature, he would need currency sooner or later. Yet, being the introvert he was, the town was hardly the most pleasant place to be in. A weary sigh from Kiya as he glanced across the street reaffirmed this fact.
The serraptor lingered for a few more minutes, hoping no-one would approach him. Eventually, he mustered the will to move into the crowd, and began making his way through, aiming to reach the town's exit. Instantly, however, he was engulfed in the current of people. Resisting the growing panic within him, Kiya tried to navigate through the crowd, nudging and pushing, and garnering a few annoyed barks and remarks from others in the process. 'I need to get out of here as quickly as possible,' he thought to himself. Little did he know, however, that being among what he hated most would prove to be a turning point for him...
