Valentine's Day was drawing to a close, as the night settled over the buildings. The Frightmare was walking rather slowly as she made her way home, the Piyo perched on her back similarly drifting off and then straightening up again. Still, despite their exhaustion, both of them were overjoyed.

"She really arrived!" exclaimed Tweety, looking dreamy-eyed. "I was so worried that she wouldn't show up, or that she would say she didn't think of me that way..."

"You shouldn't have been so worried," murmured Fei. "Things often go better than you dream they will."

"Yeah, like you and that Odhran guy," said Tweety. "Did you seriously just meet him on a blind date and hit it off right away?"

"Not exactly," she replied softly. "He had no idea I was waiting there for someone. I suppose...the person who asked me to wait there stood me up. But that's fine now!" She added a little skip to her step, something quite hard to do for a creature with her type of gait. Tweety yelped.

"Hey, watch out for the crystals!"

"Oh, right," she said, dropping back to a walking pace. "You didn't drop any, did you?"

"There's no need to worry," he replied. "I'm holding on to them nice and tight." She nodded. The ring-necklace around her neck jangled, and she stopped to imagine how it would look with the jewels accenting it as well.

"So, when's your next date?" he asked.

"Oh...I don't know," she admitted. "We just had such a good time together! I'm sure he'll let me know when he wants to meet again!"

"Ugh, old people."

"What?" she said, snorting in mock-indignation. "I am not old!"

"You're way older than me, at least," he said. "And saying all that cheesy stuff to him as you left."

"I'm not the one who brought a rose."

"It's traditional!"

"Isn't that just another word for 'old'?"

"Oh, fine!" he said. "I'll stop teasing you. It's just that...well, okay, I'm a bit jealous of how easily you two got into the whole 'sweethearts' thing." He groaned a little. "And to think that I used to think it gross when my parents did that kind of stuff...it's still gross when they do it, of course, because they're my parents."

"Well, that part's only natural," said Fei.

"I hope that wasn't sarcasm."

"Nah, I can understand that weird feeling perfectly well."

"Hey, what are your parents like, anyways? You never talk-"

"Oh look, we're here!" She quickly pushed the door of their house open with her nose. "You should get to bed now!" she added quickly. "And so should I!"

He shrugged slightly, and glided off her back, shifting back into human form. He watched for a while as she trotted away, then started for his bedroom. Yeah, he was tired. He and Fei had hung out by themselves for a while after that date-it turned out she was pretty good company. No wonder it had gotten so dark without them even noticing.
