Fei cantered quickly down the hall towards where she knew the stables were. Tweety's simple question had awakened memories in her that she'd much rather keep private. Unfortunately, when she did arrive there, she found that her sister had not yet fallen asleep.

"So, how did it go this time?" asked Mei softly. She was usually gentle towards her sister, unlike her attitude towards almost all other living things.

"Oh, it was wonderful!" exclaimed Fei. "He was just as sweet a gentleman as he's always been!"

"And nothing horrible happened this time?" Mei's voice seemed to waver between concern and amusement. Admittedly, the story of Fei and Odhran getting chased out of an amusement park by an angry mob was pretty humorous from an outsider's perspective. Although they hadn't really been at fault in that case.

"Oh no. I gave him the rings and everything! And look! We found these crystals that go beautifully with them!" she added, before suddenly realizing that she'd left them with Tweety.

"What crystals?" asked Mei.

"Oh...I left them with Tweety. I didn't tell you yet, but apparently he was at the falls to meet someone as well. This lady he met on this jungle adventure." She knew that the purpose of the trip had been to find someone out there, but she wasn't very sure on the details. Even the names were fuzzy. "He seemed pretty smitten by her."

"They'd only met once? Isn't that a bit sudden?"

Fei shrugged again. "It's young love, you know. What are you going to do? Anyways, he was carrying the crystals for me, and I apparently forgot to ask for them back. I got...distracted."

"Distracted? There's more than that to it," said Mei, moving closer. "He must have mentioned something you didn't want him to."

"Y-yes. Our parents."

"Our parents. Who threw us out the moment the curse manifested in you? Despite the fact that there were ways to suppress it? Who forced us to use our own methods, that backfired on you in the end?"

"Don't be so harsh about them. They were scared. It was a natural reaction for them..."

"Then you don't make excuses for them! There were so many other things they could have done! Instead of forcing us to wander for who knows how long!"

"But we found a good place to settle in the end, didn't we? It all worked out in the end, Mei..."

"Bah!" muttered the Nyghtmare. "The only reason I've settled here is because you've fallen in love with it for some reason. Don't forget that we were forced to stop here because of that griffin woman's infernal dreamcatcher!"

"We could leave, you know. Yet you never do."

"Don't think it's because I like anyone here," snapped Mei curtly. "Except for you, sister. You'd never leave this place willingly, so I'll just have to stay here until one of our 'masters' finally figures out the whole truth about you and throws us out." Fei didn't say anything. She knew Mei didn't mean to insult her-the hypothetical scenario she was talking about was something that had happened all too often.

"Quite frankly, I'm surprised that your beau didn't turn tail and run the instant he saw you wither one of his precious plants."

"What-don't say that about Odhran! I know I can trust him with my secret. Besides, why do you think Gray or Dimension would throw us out for this curse? Especially since it's been sealed now!"

"Fine, I'll give you that at least," said Mei, somewhat surly. She had met the creature who had created that seal, and she knew that it was much stronger than anything either of the equines could have made on their own. If anything could stop the curse from emerging, it was that. "Just...go to sleep, alright? We've both been up too late."

"Fine, sister."
