Dust

The home was quiet.

It was morningdark. Floating on the breeze, a carefree mote of thought, Dust the Nog drifted through the currents. Leaves and bits of his namesake accompanied him.

A small, whitewashed home, flanked by a rotted garden, spun before him. The world constantly turned upside-down and sideways as the wind threw Dust about.

He steared himself along a lines of leaves, directing himself to the crackling paint on the windowsill. The windows were streaked with rainy residue. He saw them glimmer as dawn encroached the horizon.

Within this home lived Mr. Louis Redmond and his daughter, Neta. Dust had been chosen as one of the impromptu leaders of this mission, and once his fellow sprites arrived, it would be his job to explain their mission to them.

Landaloph hopped off a mint bush into the house, Landaloph had been with the Think Sprite Task Force for about three years and was just getting used to his Partner, Varana, when she was squished under the woman they were trying to help's pumps. It was quite unfortunate. Now he had a whole team to work together with to fix this poor family's life. He crawled across the ground to Dust's side.
"Landaloph, Ah Number 16 of section Strawberry reporting for duty! Are you Mr. Dust?"

Breakaway flew around in the sky, wandering seemingly aimlessly. Suddenly, he caught sight of two other Think Sprites below. Ah, so that's where they were! The Gu dodged a passing fly and dove down, landing neatly in front of the two. "Hey." Breakaway shifted his wings slightly. It had been a bit tiring waiting for them. "I assume that you are the squadron leader...Dust...was that you're name? And I also assume...that...one of my teammates is this one here?" He pointed at Landaloph.

"Ahh! Good! Someone actually showed up." Dust smiled a wry little smile in the way that Think Sprites do--his essence convulsed and warped cheerfully. "I was beginning to get worried. The younger Sprites don't take the task force at all seriously anymore. I was worried that I would be all alone on this mission."

Dust was an aging sprite, yawned into existance some fifty-three years ago by a tired woman fed up with her daily chores. His essence was beginning to turn gray and tattered around its edges, and his Noggish spikes limped a little, but he had a formidable heart.

He pressed his eyes into the window before turning back to his companions. A gleaming flame and a winking blue eye seemed to size him up from a basket in a corner.

"Ah. They have Rexxels. They didn't tell me about that one down at the command center." Well, there was another obstacle to surmount, then.

"Don't worry. I bet they won't notice us. And if they do. We'll just "convince" them that we aren't chew toys." said Landaloph with a smile.
Landaloph had a kind side but it was never reflected on things that might hurt his team. He had special distaste for pumps and the color pink. Hopefully Neta liked something else, preferably blue.

Besides Landaloph liked Rexxels. As long as you stayed out of their way the tended to stay out of your way. A job was a job was a job. Landaloph usually tried to finish missions as efficiently as possible and make the client as happy as possible. He wasn't the best at his job but he was proud of his work.

"My name is Landaloph." he said,"It is very nice to meet you."

"Dust," the Sprite said. "Good to meet you too.

"Have you seen any of the other members of our team yet? I haven't. You think we're too early?"

Breakaway shrugged. He wouldn't care less. The Gu yawned and glanced at the Rexxel. "Perhaps we should start without them?" After all, they should have shown up by now...
Breakaway sighed again and streatched his wings. How long were the others going to take?

A Ska entered, though he was throughly peeved. Rena had pushed him along for the whole walk, and yelled at him until he entered the stupid house. He didn't really want to be here, but a part of him missed his own self. But he was like this for a reason. He had to make people think he wasn't gentle. I'm not a gentle freak, I'm a tough Think Sprite. he thought angrily to himself. He just wanted to scream when Marie said that his gentle soul was always up for a job like this. Gag gag gag. He had to prove it. As he entered the room with the other Think Sprites in it, he grumbled, "Hi."

"Errrm?" Dust started a little at the sight of the Ska. "Errm... do we know you? I don't remember anyone of your description on the sign-up list. Did I?"

Inside the home, one of the Rexxel turned over in its sleep and let out a snorting sound.

"Well...are we gonna start or what?" said Landaloph, "The clients wont wait forever." Landalouph shook his head. Think Sprite Task Forces were natoriously unorganized. Sure it usually worked out but not without  some serious back pedaling. He climbed up a table leg and saw a pen. He picked it up thinking it might be useful. He also grabbed a piece of loose leaf. He crawled back down. "So, lets make a list of what we have to get done here..."

Rushing in, the a rather gorgeous Ska fluffed herself. Bella had not been ready to leave (she had been primping herself) which was the cause of her being late. She smiled at the group and spoke. "Hello there." she said, out of breath. Swooping next to the other Ska, she listened in for what was happening.
