Wolf flashed a toothy grin of sharp teeth in response.  "Thank you sir."  He purred like a cat, looking in the direction that Gareth had pointed in.  He had no reason to suspect the knight was lying.  "I suppose he left town then?  Unfortunate.  Such a hassle to track in the woods."  He dipped his head respectfully and turned towards the direction he was pointed in, trudging his way onward.

Gareth nodded in response, watching Wolf's back until the strange man had disappeared from sight. Frowning, Gareth gripped at the handle of his sword, then turned into the inn. He looked around for Fox, an urgent sharpness to his gaze. Whoever Wolf really was, he wasn't good. Not for Fox, or Gareth, or for this town.

Thankfully, the young man, Fox, was still there. Gareth strode up to him, leaning close to his ear. "There was a man outside looking for you. I sent him on his way without incident, but I would like for you to explain to me what is going on. I did not like the look of him."

Fox's body tensed up as soon as Gareth started to whisper to him.  Though he tried to hide his stomach dropping to his knees, the blood draining from his face gave away how he felt.  He opened his mouth and only a dry whisper came out.  He cleared it, and started, "He is hunting us."  He slumped down his head, looking at all of the patrons with suspicious eyes.  "It is not safe to talk of it here."  He adjusted his weight, looking around.  "Is there a place we could go that is not full of curious ears?"

Gareth glanced around at the lobby. A bored looking girl stood behind the counter, and a few men sat in the lobby chairs, playing cards. Gareth let out a rough exhale, then moved towards the counter. "Two rooms, if you would," he murmured, reaching into a small pouch at his side for the necessary coinage. That done, Gareth took the keys and went back to Fox, and tossed him a key. "We'll discuss in your room."

Fox nodded quickly, taking quick steps to the room that Gareth had got for them.  He peeked out the door, obviously nervous about.. something.  He pulled the ex knight towards him, face still pale from the news.  "We were in the same.. group.. once.  I am sorry but I can not go into detail about the group, only that they do not mean harm and wish to help.  Something.. I am not sure what, went wrong in his head.  He swore to kill all of us.  Venn and I, my partner, we used to work with him, so I suppose this is why we are the first targets."  He shifted his weight from foot to foot nervously, eyes still peering around as if the walls would cave in at any moment.

Gareth locked the door to Fox's room, then turned to look at the pale young man. He let out a breath, the tension still not leaving his body. Fox looked more like a boy, to tell the truth. Too young to be messing about with secret societies and assassins. With a noncommittal grunt, Gareth strode past Fox towards the window, and he peered out of it to see if anyone was on the road. Seeing no one, Gareth shut the shutters, sending the room into a dim darkness. "He's right on your trail. Does your partner, Venn, does she know that Wolf is around?"

Fox nodded his head, "Yes, we always assume he is on our trail, this is why we move so much.  We were meant to leave here this morning, but I believe that Venn decided it would be fun to hide."  He murmured, looking down in annoyance.  True, he cared deeply about her, but she was quite annoying and hard to handle sometimes.  He looked back up at Gareth,
"She knows how to care for herself.  I just do not like her to be alone.  I would not forgive myself if she were hurt."  He cleared his throat a bit as voice was honestly not used to talking this much and was starting to crack.  "She would probably be somewhere she thought was fun..  But is most likely dangerous."  He added in a murmur.

Gareth sighed, quietly taking the situation into consideration. It seemed as if this Venn was a bit of a wildcard. Fox had a level head, for someone who was being chased down by a dangerous character. Running a hand against his growing beard, Gareth grimaced, trying to think. "There's a tavern nearby. That seems like the most likely place to find danger, in a small town like this."

Fox nodded in response.  "It sounds like somewhere she would go."  He started to walk towards the door, but stopped himself awkwardly as he half stepped.  "I.. Do not know where this tavern is."  He said, rubbing the back of his head shyly.  He didn't really like asking for help but..  He knew he had to.  Honestly he wasn't used to being around the same person for this long that wasn't Venn.  It felt odd to him.

Gareth looked at Fox with a level gaze, taking in the unsure set to Fox's face. Slowly, a small smile grew on his face, and he let out a rueful sound. This boy may be part of a secret organization, or some other nonsense like that, but he seemed pretty helpless. Gareth adjusted his sword at his side, then walked towards the door, holding it open for Fox. "C'mon then. Let's go have a drink."

Fox couldn't help a small, albeit awkward, smile in return.  He rubbed the back of his neck, pausing a second before nodding in response.  "Yes, thank you."  He managed to stutter, walking through the door with a bit more of a  confidence in his step.
He sighed out in annoyance at the heat when he hit the outside, having forgotten how horribly suffocating it was.  He would take the cloak off, but he felt compelled to keep it on.  It was a bit of a security blanket for him.

"Tavern's nearby," Gareth pointed out, striding out in front of the young man. He opened the door, revealing a dim, smoky interior full of tables. There were a few people at the bar, and a card game going on in the corner. Gareth did a sweep of the interior, then headed towards a table tucked away in the corner. Sitting down, Gareth nodded at the girl working the bar, who was cleaning glasses. She met Gareth's gaze, then slowly began to make her way around the tables to Fox and Gareth. "What can I get you boys?" She asked, pulling out a pad of paper. Gareth glanced at Fox for a moment, then back at the woman. "Just a beer, thanks."

Fox was not very good at hiding his nervousness.  His body was very obviously tense and he flinched at everyone who walked passed him.  He barely heard the bartender.  "Wh-  Oh, Nothing for me, thanks."  He managed to stammer out, rubbing his forehead in annoyance at his incompetence in public.  


"Aha!  Four of a kind!"  A female voice yelled out from a darkened table in the corner.  She threw out her cards, a four of clubs, a four of diamonds, a four of hearts, 4 of spades and an ace of clubs.  The others at the table groaned loudly as money was pushed towards the happy girl.  "If I was a dog my tail'd be waggin' so much!"


Fox tilted his head, listening.  "That.. May be her"  He murmured.

Gareth watched Fox's fidgeting with a bemused sort of air. If he was a spy of some sort, he wasn't a very good one. He smiled at the waitress as she brought him his drink, then paid her. Taking a sip of his beer, Gareth looked over in the direction of the game. "She certainly sounds like a wild one. She'll get mugged if she keeps waving that money around."

Fox sighed deeply.  "If they try they'll end up with less than they had."  He remarked, in a bit of a joking tone.  He made his way over to the girl, tapping her gently.  "Venn, why did you wander again?"  His voice, while annoyed, seemed to have a bit of relief in it. "And why are you not wearing our attire?"

The girl jumped, spinning around, black hair whipping her face.  "Foxie!"  She sung, putting her arms up happily.  Her bright green eyes shined brightly against her olive skin.  "I'm sorry!"  She drew out the "ry," "I meant to come back, but I wanted to try this game, it's so fun!  I think I got a lot!"  She looked down at her uncloaked body, "Oh, yeah, um, that was so stuffy, I can't believe you're still wearin' it!  I like this much better.  Bought it with the money I won."  It was a black, semi-skintight tactile wear.  It appeared to be made for both movement and protection, as it had lightweight padding, along with sheaths for daggers and pouches for some sort of liquid.
