Donicus stopped talking long enough to watch his friend depart. It was good to be with that lizard again. He gave a contented sigh. Working with Slanter always lead to some of the most interesting plights he could recall. "Hey, you guys up for a bit of fun in the morning? I've got the whole thing planned out..."

Thenna carressed the pocketwatch one last time, a loving paw stroking the golden cover. This little trinket was going with the rest of her stash in the back, a hole covered with plywood and rocks. Most of the other theives kept away; Thenna was fierce if her territory was intruded upon.

Slanter glanced over at Gus, picking a less soiled bed for himself. "Didn't you say you were looking for something?" he inquired. "Something more than just a place to sleep?"

"Hm?" asked Gus, as he too picked out a mattress for himself. He didn't care how dirty it was, although his owner usually kept his bed clean.

Realizing that Slanter was asking about what he was here for in Nabias, he quickly explained.

"I was sent here to find one of my owner's Serraptors, who has somehow escaped the temple she's usually kept in. I'm not too familiar with her, but I know her name's Elisah."

Vesz?©ly listened to Gus carefully, although she tried to look like she wasn't. A lose serraptor? That sounded interesting. She wondered if it had wreaked havok all over town. She gave a little chuckle at the thought. Now  that would be funny. Of course, the serraptor might not be one of the "destroy everything in my path" kind. Well, she could hope.

"Did you just laugh?" Vex said, looking aghast.

"No,"Vesz?©ly lied.

A scream echoed through the building, Thenna being the source. She was clutching her watch protectively as Slanter sprang from his mattress and hurried to her side.

"What happened?" he asked, checking her over to see if she was injured. She appeared to be fine physically.

"M- my treasure!" she wailed, sobbing into the Slithy's shoulder. The hole lay uncovered and empty, deep scratches all around it.

Donicus strode over, trying his best to looke concerned. "I'm sure it'll turn up some time, lass."

"I bet you took it," she growled. "You did filch my watch a while ago!"

"Well," Donicus sounded hurt, "I couldn't have possibly done it." He held up a rear paw and wiggled his toes, the claws much too short to have made the gashes.

Gus had been almost asleep. His eyes were closed, and he was beginning to snore a little. He was woken up suddenly, however, by Thenna's yell.

Very spooked, he darted off his mattress, and ran rapidly around the warehouse, sometimes going up onto the walls.

Eventually, he calmed down, and followed Slanter to Thenna's wayward stash.

He gazed at the hole, thinking. The rattegan was quick to blame the Candle Shinzo, but he said he was not responsible for it, even showing his hind paw and short claws.

But what could- wait.

Although he didn't know much about Serraptors, he knew for a fact that the claws on their legs were very long and sharp. The claw marks around this hole seemed to suggest long and sharp claws had dug around here.

But what would a Serraptor want with a theive's horde?

"I think I might know who's responsible for this," the kuhna said.

Hearing Thenna's yell, Vex forgot to flap his wings. The angst ball fell to the ground with a surprised "Oof!" Luckily, he hadn't been to far above the ground and he wasn't hurt. Vesz?©ly snickered at him before she padded up behind the others.

Her eyes widened slightly when she noticed the claw marks, her eyes straying towards the shinzo. But he had already showed his claws, which were much to small to have made the marks.

I think I might know who's responsible for this.

Gus's words echoed through her head and she turned her head to him, waiting him to continue, even though she thought she might know who he was talking about.
