Rosie shifted back into human form, in order to display her frown more prominently.

"Lily said to me--summat about joinin' the circus, which Ah jus' assumed was her bein' a kiddie, but she's really gone an' found some circus she wants to be a part of. Ah cain't say Ah git it, but it seems fairly harmless... bu' war? That ain't good."

Rosie leaned back, barely noticing as a waiter dropped her lunch in front of her. "Friend o' mah daddy's from way back when went into tha' war. She ain't wrote her mama an' papa yet, thought Ah hear she's still alive... jus' shirkin' from writin' her parents fer some reason."

"That's what I said! But he won't listend to his 'old man'. Maybe, if you talked to him...."

With the smell of food, Tentan reliezed how very hungry he was. He did restrict himself though, and degressed to drinking his soda. Shifting back into human form, he started fiddling with his necklace. "The circus? Hmm... well, let's just make sure she isn't a clown, shall we?" He winked lightly at the red-haired Rosie, then went back into thinking again. "He said he was going to the roraldi forests with a female... but she isn't interested, or so her master says. I'm still a bit iffy about it... but I geuss that's just how parents are with their kids, right?" He smiled wryly at her, then sipped some more soda.

"Oh, fer shore. Fer shore."

Rosie lifted her sandwich and took a bite. The combination of sweet and savory was unique and elegant. She especially liked the way the powdered sugar on top melted against her lips--but then again, she had been raised in a candy shop. She naturally had a sweet tooth.

"Ah know mah daddy kept followin' me around any time there was the chance Ah migh' meet a male, from any species whatsoev'--human, Hollowheart, Holeef, y'all name it. He seems mighty pleased now though, that Ah've found summun Ah migh' wanna settle down with. An' Ah guess it ain't so bad ter want stability fer yer kids. Ah know Ah worry an awful lot 'bout Peaches, but he ain't shown no interest in girls yet. An' fer that matter, no interest in boys neither. He just don't seem interested in much o' nobody..."

Rosie hummed thoughtfully around a mouthful of toasted sandwich.

Tentan laughed heartily, then spoke up. "Your dad is good then. I'm mighty glad that he thinks I'm.... acceptable. My dad left me when I was just a pup. Haven't heard from 'im since..." With that, he started eating his large plate of steaming goodness. "And I know how you feel about Peaches... but you know, boys are a handful It's the same as Peaches with Urchin! Except it's vice versa. He LOVES females and going out, and I'd prefer o saty at home, with.. you."

Rosie grinned.

"Ah'd like ter stay with y'all too, Tentan."

Then--what was she doing?--she leaned over and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. She blushed hotly.

"Y'all're nicer'n a vanilla milkshake on a hot day, y'all are. An' mighty handsome, t'boot!"

Tentan turned bright red. She kissed me! She actually kissed me! His face was covered in a rosy red, and he had a grin stuck on his face.

"I love you, Rosie Peppermint."

Rosie grinned.

"An' Ah love y'all back, Tentan Starfleet."

Rosie picked up his hand. ((Paw? I'm not sure what form we're in any more. XD)) She ran her fingers over the back of his palm. What an interesting way it felt. Soft, warm... how comforting.

Tentan blushed softly as he pulled out a velevety black ring box, with veins of gold embroidery on the outside rim. He spoked softly, as if charashing the moment. "Rosie..." His eyes glimmered with love. "..will you marry me?"

"As long as the stars do shine, Tentan, Ah'm yer girl. Yes, yes, and again yes!"

It was only then that Rosie realized how silent the cafe had become. From somewhere, lingering in the background, a single patron had begun to clap. The waiters watched on.

Soon another diner joined in, and another. Applause echoed throughout the tiny cafe, meshing with and against the music. Rosie blushed even deeper. Her face went shyly into her collarbone.

Tentan blushed as well, then leaned over the table. He quickly cupped her face in his hands, and kissed her for a long time on the lips.... the claps faded into the distance.
