Ptolemy had placed "the petal to the metal" to make it back to his practice, he didn't know a lot about Tou-sans but he did know one thing, things with blood can bleed out.
Demeter didn't know what was happening, she felt woozy. The blood loss was getting to her. "This Ptolemy person better be good at whatever he does or I'm gonna die," she thought right before she passed out.
Ptolemy rushed her into the emergency room and patched her up as quickly as he could.

Days pasted and Demeter did not awake. Ptolemy was sure he had failed to save her but he spent all his free time, which he had quite a lot of, at her side.
Demeter's dreams were haunted by visions of the Khimerans and their terrible experiments. So many needles and wounds. The shock treatments attempting to make her into a killer. And all around her she could feel the presence of so many shadows and cruelty, and it wasn't human.

Demeter awoke four days later in an unknown bed. It was soft and comfy and made her feel safe. Her wing and foot were bandaged and it was difficult to move them. Strangely she couldn't sense an ounce of negitive energy in the room she found herself. What had happened to her?

Then she remembered everything, the attack by the D.O.C., the purple cloud and Ptolemy, her rescuer. Just as she began to think about him the gray haired Doctor made his way into the room.
"Oh good! You're awake! You had me really worried."

The Tou-san tossed her ears,"Yes...how...how long have I been asleep?"
"About four days," said the Doctor,"I was really worried, how do you feel?"
"Like I could sleep for another four days..." she said cynically.
"Well...how do your wounds feel?" Hargrave asked with a concerned look.
"Fine...with a little work...they should be just fine...thank you." she answered.
"Now for a harder question...who were those guys attacking you..." asked Hargrave.
"They....I should start from the begining..." said Demeter. She told Ptolemy of Black Khimera, the INCARNUS project, the torture, the escape, and how she had been separated from the others.

Hargrave was shocked. His mouth hung open like there were weights attached to his bottom lip.
"That...that's amazing...how did this happen...how does no one know?"
"The project was small, only 24 successful experiments."
"So you are still looking for Valor and the others?" asked Hargrave.
"Yes...I will find them...I know it..." she responded.

A few weeks later Demeter had completely healed. Ptolemy was depressed about her leaving, she had been such a close friend in the last few weeks. She  knew all about him, about his divorce, his loss of his children, and how empty his life had been. She also knew about his joy, the energy he got from helping another person heal. There was a knock on the door, it was Demeter.

She wisped inside the room. "I am sorry my  dear friend Ptolemy...but it is now time for me to go...I must find the others."
"I know." he responded,"That's why I'm going with you."
"WHAT!"
"I don't have anything here, the other doctors can take care of this place while I'm gone. And you shouldn't have to walk alone."
"Oh Ptolemy...." she said as she smiled, "Thank you."
Ptolemy had given her one of the only gifts she had ever wanted, someone to walk with.
"Lets get going Demi. We've got a lot a world to cover..."
