Tea long since finished and put away, Cosmos sat on the mattress, leafing through one of Narcyz's old textbooks. It was hard to ignore the small whines and gurgles coming from his empty stomach. Cosmos frowned up at the dark sky through the window, wondering where on earth Narcyz was. He jumped, startled, as the sound of the door opening echoed from upstairs. Not caring that he looked like an eager puppy, Cosmos put the book down and went to peek out at the top of the stairs, a small smile growing on his face. "Narcyz?"

He blinked at the despondent look on Narcyz's face, smile slipping a bit, and blinked again at the smell of grease and meat. His stomach growled against his will. Trying to keep his expression from revealing his embarrassment, Cosmos smiled, stepping aside to let Narcyz through. "How was your day? I cleaned up a bit, and reorganized things downstairs. Made it a bit more neat, and dusted a bit. There was a lot of dust. Oh, and a young man came in today, and I gave him a fortune. He seemed pleased with it, and I earned a little money, so I think it turned out... alright." Cosmos trailed off, realizing that he had been blabbing. His composure was a little off; the depressed look in Narcyz's usually bright eyes made Cosmos's chest constrict and it felt as if the room was tilted slightly. A response, a smile, a look, something other than the obvious depression that Narcyz's mind was caught up in.

Narcyz slowly raised his head to stare at Cosmos as he came up to him, expression unchanging. Everything that came out of the god's mouth seemed muddled and foggy, like there was water rushing in Narcyz's ears, but he did pick up on the growling sounds coming from Cosmos' stomach. "Here," he said softly, thrusting the bag into Cosmos' hands. "Eat this... I already had one," he lied, but if he ate anything, especially something that greasy, he wasn't sure he'd be able to hold it down.

At the mention of money, and of having cleaned up, Narcyz took a moment to look around. His expression flickered with something a bit less dark, then settled back to sullen. "It... looks good. Thanks for holding down the fort," he murmured, running a hand through his hair as he walked towards the stairs, loosening his tie as he brushed past Cosmos. "I'll go buy us some real food tomorrow with what you earned... and keep looking, I guess. Didn't find anything..." his voice was getting less audible as he walked up the stairs, as if forgetting he was talking to Cosmos entirely, but rather to himself.

Cosmos fumbled with the bag that was shoved at him, and he peeked inside before brightening up. Food! If he wasn't mistaken, it was a hamburger. Cosmos followed Narcyz upstairs, holding the bag tight, his expression drawing up slightly at the quietness in the other boy's voice. It just didn't feel right. Narcyz was confident, and bright, and always had a light in his eyes. This Narcyz... was something Cosmos wasn't used to. "Maybe I could go with you," he replied, a hopeful note in voice. Cosmos wanted to see more of the human port city. He also needed to get rid of that cursed amulet that was blocking Narcyz's business fortunes. "I'm sure you'll find a place to work soon. It just takes a little time."

Narcyz was already wandering towards the bed, slipping the tie off of himself and tossing it on Cosmos' pillow, not bothering to take off the dress shirt as he practically fell out of his shoes and flopped on the bed. "I checked every fucking place in town," he whispered, curling up slightly, away from Cosmos as he tangled his arms in a kind of cage over his head. "And all I got was insulted and laughed at. Taking you with me isn't gonna make a fucking difference." His words were biting, laced with a venom that he didn't mean to direct at Cosmos in any way shape or form but somehow it happened so fast. "Just let me sleep..." Narcyz winced as he heard his own stomach growl painfully, and he curled up tighter, shutting his eyes.

Cosmos stood in the middle of the room, his expression falling and his heart sinking into his chest. He didn't know that his heart could feel like it was made of lead. He looked down at the crumpled bag in his hands, then at Narcyz. "Oh," he said quietly, feeling silly for saying such an inane thing. "I wasn't..." Narcyz had assumed that Cosmos was going to help him get a job. That wasn't it; he just wanted to see Narcyz's hometown... The god winced slightly at Narcyz's tone, then swallowed. It took a moment for him to think of a proper response. "Um, goodnight, Narcyz." Cosmos went over into the kitchen area to sit down, the paper bag rattling as he fished out the burger and began to eat. It was a little cold, and it sank in his stomach as he ate it, but it quieted his stomach. Every once in awhile, he would glance over at Narcyz's form on the bed, then away, feeling a tightness in his chest that he was unfamiliar with.

Once he was done eating, Cosmos folded up the bag and neatly placed it in the trashcan before he picked up Narcyz's discarded tie and shoes and put them in their proper place. Then, he turned the light off so that Narcyz could sleep. Cosmos didn't feel like sleeping, and he felt a little awkward at the thought of lying down next to the boy when he was so angry. Cosmos pulled up the small chair to the window, opening the blinds to let the moonlight in, and stared up at the sky, losing himself in thought.

When Narcyz woke, the lights had been turned off. His head pounded from lack of food, and he slowly shifted his arms away to stare at the clock. Two in the morning. Narcyz silently rubbed a hand over his face and turned over... to see Cosmos wasn't there. He blinked, brows furrowing; he felt like he was in a strange fog, everything moving slow and sounding muted. He sat up and caught sight of Cosmos sitting at the window, his face to the sky and standing stock still. Guilt twinged in Narcyz's heart as he remembered what he'd said before he'd fallen asleep, and he steeled himself, beginning to get up. He walked over to Cosmos and stopped a few feet away. "Cosmos...?" he called softly, tentatively, his voice sounding too thin in his own ears. He stepped closer to stand beside the chair, and lightly touched a hand to Cosmos' shoulder, wanting the god to look at him, so that Narcyz could look him in the eyes when he apologized.

At some point, Cosmos had opened the window to let the night air into the apartment. He stared up at the heavens above, which were barely visible from the lights of the city. He could see everything. Everything he once knew, everything he would know. He could see himself, Narcyz, Danny, the multitudes of other people scattered around this world like stars in the sky. Everything, small and large, was revealed to him, like hidden details in a masterpiece. His body breathed, his heart pumped, and he stood still, looking out the window, but his mind was out there, exploring the vastness of the universe. When Narcyz got up, the god didn't register the noise, or the hand on his shoulder. His shoulder warmed, and the god blinked, turning towards the human boy in the darkness beside him, his face unreadable. The light from the moon reflected in Cosmos's dark eyes, revealing little flecks of light and color that were like a nebula.

When Cosmos met Narcyz's eyes, he felt as though all of the words and all of his breath was being sucked out of him. His eyes locked on Cosmos', staring at the swirling lights and flickers of galaxies in his eyes, and his lips parted, eyes lidding softly. Something there, some residual godlike energy seemed to wash over Narcyz, breaking down the fog in his brain until it had settled on one clear, final, I'm sorry, but it couldn't make it past his lips. Instead he found himself leaning forward and pulling Cosmos closer until he could feel Cosmos' lips against his. And he didn't let go. His breath became erratic, dragging out or huffing softly out his nose as his hands moved to grip any part of Cosmos he could reach because he just wanted the god to know how glad he was, how thankful he was that he'd come to him. He prayed that somehow Cosmos would understand the waves of remorse rising up like a tide inside of Narcyz each time he dragged his lips heavy along Cosmos' face, jawline, neck. Tears pooled in lidded lavender eyes as he held Cosmos close, wanting to taste and breathe Cosmos in with all he had.

Cosmos jolted slightly as he felt Narcyz's lips press against his. His eyes flickered slightly, understanding slowly trickling in as he felt Narcyz's knotted up and tangled energy begin to ease. All the worry, the apologies, the gratitude... It came to Cosmos with every touch and kiss and rushed breath. Slowly, the god began to kiss back, moving as if he were in a daze, his arms reaching to wrap around the human's waist. He reached up a hand to brush away the tears on Narcyz's cheek, a small smile on his face as he stared at Narcyz with starlit eyes. "There's nothing to apologize for," he whispered, leaning forward and kissing the human boy on the lips.

Narcyz's arms went to drape around Cosmos' neck, hands burying and tangling in dark hair. "Bullshit," he whispered softly, his voice breathy as he broke the kiss long enough to lick his lips and press in again, barely pulling on Cosmos' hair as he ran his fingers through the thick curls. "That's bullshit, Cosmos." He broke away for a moment, breathing fast, his hands trailing to hold the sides of Cosmos' face, his own eyes intense with earnestness as he met Cosmos' gaze. "The fact that you're here... th-that you came back, hell, you're a god, and you came back for me," he whispered, voice breaking halfway through and he silenced his own tears with a surging kiss, nearly pushing too hard on Cosmos. "You cleaned up the place... and it looks like a home now, not some trash heap--you're incredible, and I lo... I'm..." Narcyz cut off, leaning away to stare at Cosmos, his own face flushed a soft red. "And I love you. I couldn't ask for anything better than you being here."

Admittedly, Cosmos was more than a little overwhelmed by the onslaught of Narcyz's kisses and breathless words. He shifted back, nearly stumbling, his back pressing against the wall as Narcyz kissed him. It had been a long time since they had done this... Ever since their first meeting, really. It was a little funny, actually, Narcyz always was the one to jump on Cosmos, and then they couldn't stop kissing. Cosmos's hands gripped tight at Narcyz's back, holding the human boy close to him. Narcyz didn't quite understand. He didn't understand that ever since he had fell into his life, Cosmos hadn't been able to stop thinking about him. The god would check up on him, from time to time, and try to ignore the empty space in his heart and his home. Narcyz didn't understand how whole Cosmos felt, being next to him. And now, in the darkness of Narcyz's apartment, Cosmos was unable to reply because every time Narcyz stopped talking, he would kiss Cosmos with such sweetness and insistence that Cosmos couldn't pull away.

His breath, which was becoming a little hurried, stilled in his chest at Narcyz's words, and Cosmos stared at Narcyz for a long moment, his eyes growing wide. Love. Narcyz loved him. A warmth rushed into his chest, a warmth that Cosmos had never felt before, and it filled him up from head to toe. A smile grew on his face, conveying every feeling that he couldn't voice. Cosmos, his eyes shining in the moonlight, nodded his head slowly, leaning forward to press his forehead to Narcyz's. "Yes," he breathed, voice barely audible. "I love you, Narcyz..."

Narcyz gasped softly against Cosmos' mouth as Cosmos' back hit the wall, and Narcyz pressed to him, the hands clutching at his back sending sparks of electricity up his spine. He sighed out heavily, lips sliding and pressing to Cosmos' mouth, before he broke away to listen to what Cosmos was saying, every nerve in his body fully focused on the god. His eyes flickered in surprise, his heart dropping in his chest at the words. Love... when was the last time someone had said that to him...? It had only been back when... when...

Narcyz blinked, and his eyes grew a bit damp as he pressed his forehead back against Cosmos', a smile worming over his face as he closed his eyes to prevent any tears from slipping down. "I love you," he repeated softly, his voice a rush of breath as he shifted to press his lips to Cosmos' cheek, then down to his jaw, mouthing kisses onto his skin. The look on Cosmos' face, just then... Narcyz wanted to preserve it in his mind forever, the warmth that filled him to the brim seeming to overflow into his movements, lightly pressing his body to Cosmos' and gently sucking at the skin on Cosmos' jaw and neck. He wanted to show Cosmos how much he loved him, how much he needed him, in the only way he knew how... but it was becoming difficult with the sudden rush of emotion in his chest, a few tears slipping down his face.

Cosmos's expression flickered as Narcyz replied, his heart feeling as if it were going to explode. They loved each other. They were in love. It was the reason that Cosmos couldn't stop thinking about Narcyz, and why Narcyz had missed Cosmos. Ah... What a blessing.

Whatever Cosmos had been thinking before was quickly wiped away as soon as Narcyz's warm lips brushed against his jaw. "Ahh--" A sound slipped out of Cosmos's mouth on instinct, his knees weakening from surprise and the rush of electricity that tingled through his entire system. He was glad that the wall was supporting him. Tilting his head away, Cosmos closed his eyes as Narcyz kissed him, his breath coming short in his chest. He could feel a dampness brush against his chin, that wasn't Narcyz's lips. Cosmos brought his hands up to cup Narcyz's face, his eyes soft as he wiped away the tears he saw. Without another word, Cosmos leaned forward to press a kiss to the human's lips, his touch insistent.

A hot shiver ran through Narcyz at the sound Cosmos made, and he answered with a breathless murmur of Cosmos' name. He groaned softly, pressing his hips against Cosmos, his chest to the other's chest, trying to be as close to the other as possible. He blinked as he felt Cosmos' hands lift up his face, tears silently running down his cheeks unbidden, and he closed his eyes as Cosmos wiped them away. In another moment the warmth had been renewed, lips brushing lips and Narcyz moaned in spite of himself, a little kind of wilting whimper of surprise escaping him before he surged into it, his arms tightening around Cosmos' neck and shoulders in a hug as his tongue barely slipped into Cosmos' mouth. "C-Cosmos," he mumbled softly, his voice rough from his previous tears, and he drew in a shuddering breath against Cosmos' mouth.

Admittedly, when Narcyz moaned as Cosmos kissed him, it made Cosmos a bit flustered, a rush of warmth surging through his body and leaving him breathless and wanting more. Before he could think about it, Narcyz was already pressing up against him, pinning the god against the wall. Cosmos made a muffled noise, his hands going to grip at Narcyz's sides, his breath shuddering out of his nose as he trembled. He could feel every breath, every shift, even Narcyz's heartbeat, their fronts pressed together without an inch separating them. This felt familiar, this situation, although it was vastly different.

With a gasp of air, Cosmos pulled away, the back of his head thunking against the wall. He brought a hand up to curl around Narcyz's neck, and he pressed insistent kisses along Narcyz's jaw and neck. "I've wanted... this," he stammered, the words coming out unbidden. Cosmos stared up at Narcyz, his eyes dark with intent and an earnest sincerity. "You came into my world so suddenly that I found myself missing the company you brought. N-no one had ever..." Ever had a conversation with him, ever sat and had tea with him, ever touched him, ever kissed him... Cosmos swallowed, unable to continue, and returned to pressing his lips against Narcyz's warm skin.
