Sherlock nodded. "Alright, I'll wait for you," he called, walking down the stairs. Watson squeaked and clung to his shoulder. The receptionist was waiting downstairs.

"Is there breakfast?" he asked.

"W'all, d'you like fish?" was the reply.

"Sure!" he said.

"Fish!" squealed Watson, even happier.

"We'll just be waiting for Avani," he said. "Then we'll eat together."

Avani ran back to the bathroom. She wouldn't have time to blow dry her hair now, so she just grabbed a hair tie and brushed her wet hair back into a tight, straight black ponytail. Finding no use of wearing her towel all over the room she ditched it in the doorway connecting the bathroom to her bed room and she got dressed.
Jeans, a dark purple tee shirt and then a white sweater. The sweater was an afterthought but she was glad she'd thought of it; it would be chilly by the water and chances were they'd be hanging out by the water quite a lot.

She pulled on her boots and her long black coat before heading out of her room. Lock the door and head down stairs and there was Sherlock and Wtson in the lobby.
"Good morning. I am sorry that you had to wait. Are we having breakfast here?"

Sherlock nodded. "I hope you like fish," he added. "I'm guessing that's what for breakfast."

"Ther's oth'r thin's too, but mos'ly fis'," explained the Kuchi Nagi receptionist. "Y'ready? Tha' way," he added helpfully, pointing. "Food's just about ready, ah'm shure."

"Yay!" squealed Watson, bouncing up and down now. "Hungryhungryhungryhungry!" he added, as if they couldn't tell. "Let's go!"

Fish? For breakfast? Avani found the idea strange but wasn't about to question it as she followed the kuchi nagi's directions to another room. It was a larger room, double ti size of a usual dining room. It fit seven small, round tables of a dark wood. Along one wall was a buffet.
The room had a neutral off-white colour that hinted towards green and dark cherry wood flooring. It was actually very nice. After appreciating the room a moment Avani moved to the buffet, grabbing a white plate with a dark green vine pattern around the edge. A bit of fruit and something called a "fish cake" were her breakfast, along with a slice of toast and a mug of coffee, two creams. She sat down at one of the tables and started eating. She'd be in a more talkative mood once she'd gotten something in her stomach.
The tables were all empty as it was very early in the morning.

"These are good," noted Sherlock. Not exactly a normal breakfast, but still tasty. Watson didn't care so much about what was tasty and what wasn't. He was simply gnawing away at the fishcake, biting off large bits with each chomp.

"Looks like we're early risers. You want to head down to the shore later?" suggested Holmes.

"Don't talk to that Tricky! He's mean!" added Watson.

"Do you think we should talk to that old man?" Holmes added. "It might satisfy him to know we're on the trail, but I can imagine him getting too involved..."

The fish cakes were good, but they seemed more of a lunch thing. They were pancake shaped but because they were potatoes and fish they were just... lunchy. Oh well the meal was filling and Avani wasn't about to complain about it.
"We promised that we would see him 'at the crack of dawn'. Technically we're late," Avani said awfter swallowing down the last peice of her fish cakes. She started in on fruit.
"I think we should go see him, apologise up and down for being 'late'. There is no pleasing him but the only way to keep him from being angry at us is to apologise. That will leave us room to keep him out of our investigation, tell him no, you know?"
She stabbed bits of fruit with her fork and ate it. She was trying to eat as fast as she could, without giving herself the hiccups.

"Alright," agreed Sherlock. "We need to keep on agreeable terms with him if we are to succeed in this investigation. Perhaps he'll be a little more open or cordial in the morning?"

"No way! He's just too grumpy. I don't want to talk to him!" pouted Watson.

"Don't worry, it won't be for long," replied Sherlock. The little Drakel humphed.

She'd only gotten one half of the conversation but the scene made her laugh anyway, which forced her to cover her mouth to avoid anybody seeing her half chewed food. She finished the mouthful, then another, before replying.
"I highly doubt it, especially if he does consider us late. But making him wait even more probably won't improve his mood. Have the two of you eaten enough?" Avani asked, before popping one last strawberry in her mouth. She'd wait for them if they weren't; that was the polite thing to do.

"I'm full," said Sherlock, gulping down one last fishcake and grabbing a bunch of fruit for the road. "Watson, come along. You can bring that with you."

"Don't wanna see meany man!" replied the Drakel angrily, but he took up his place on his companion's shoulder nonetheless. He sighed audibly, leaning against Sherlock in an extremely casual way.

"I don't really want to meet him again, but we promised," the young man replied, standing up.

Avani stood and snatched up an apple as she left the dining room.
"We did promise him so yes, we've got to go. Then we can check out the shore and ask around, ask the locals what they might know, right? I mean... That's what you guys do." A small laugh and she held the front door to the hotel open for the two. It was still slightly foggy from the night before so the light wasn't as bright as it could be.
"So uh... We stand fiurm in that he can't come with us... Apologise up and down for being late and uh... That's it for our visit, right? In and out as fast as we can?"

"I suppose," said Sherlock, strolling quickly out the door. "Normally I'd ask him if he knew anything else that he might have forgotten, but I think this case he'll only feel insulted." He sighed. "Maybe he'll volunteer information."

"Hurry! In and out, you're right! Don't stick around!" squealed Watson.

Sherlock had to chuckle.

Avani smiled and lead the way down the streets, back tracking from last nights trip. It was easier to find her way now that it was light out and the town was not obscured by fog.

The time it took to get from the hotel to the old man's house was less then the trip last night for the above reason. Avani knocked firmly on the door, trying to prepare herself for the old mans harsh voice; it was easier then Avani had thought it would be, but then she had not actually faced the voice yet.

"Yer late," the Tricky growled as the door swung open. "Dawn's come an' pass'd alr'dy."

"We have to eat too meany old man!" squeaked Watson. Sherlock waved a warning finger, and the Drakel quieted down.

"I'm sorry," he said. "We were having breakfast."

"Hamph. Kids," the Tricky muttered in response.

"Sorry about our tardyness. The kitchen at the hotel isn't open at the crack of dawn, Mr. Smith," Avani lied in her most polite voice. She waited with Sherlock and Watson on the step until, grudgingly, the tricky moved to allow them entry into the small front porch.
"We just wanted to give you an idea of what we'd be doing today to solve this."

"Wall, wha', then?" demanded the Tricky.

"We'll go down to the seashore and talk to the inhabitants there. They might have seen something," explained Sherlock. Watson, who understood that others didn't know what he was saying, was chittering under his breath, delivering insults to the Tricky.

"Tha'...sounds smart," the old man admitted at last.
