Pheya watched the ocean as the sun rose. She’d been out early, when she could see her breath fog up in the cold air and her skin got goose bumps. Above the ocean the sky was grey, but on the horizon blue skies were on their way. The dock they were on went right over the shore so she couldn’t see the waves on the beach, but she could see their gentle roll as they came in.
“I’m surprised,” her sister said. They stood next to each other enjoying the ocean.
“Mm?” Pheya mumbled.
“This is awfully domestic, especially for us,” her sister replied, leaning against the railing.
