“Uhm… I would not recommend it,” Austriel whispered nervously.

“Why not?” Relic asked, breaking the hug.

“They are fucking crazy,” Annabelle said behind them.

“They’re only babies,” Relic countered.

“Demons grow quickly, you know this,” she shrugged.

“Their minds do not,” Relic shot back.

[Sarah]

“Still, this is an instability that will take them too long to overcome. Another sibling will come along and slaughter them before they have the chance at the crown,” Annabelle said. ”You could do it,” She sang to him.

“I won’t,” Relic told her firmly, but another could there was no doubting that. Relic was not as heartless as his parents. Maybe Annabelle’s lover had been some sort of softy and passed the gene down on to him. Whatever it was, there was no way Relic would allow children to be slaughtered.

“You’d sooner have those monsters razing villages than sleeping peacefully in the void?” Annabelle asked.

“I’d sooner teach them, and allow them time to grow,” Relic snarled.

Annabelle laughed in his face. “You are young and naïve Relic. This is why you needed to come back, you have a long way to go before you are king,” she said.

Relic narrowed his eyes and gave her a nod. “Maybe so, but I will not begin my legacy with blood,” he told her.

“Demon’s don’t have blood to spill,” Annabelle corrected.

“You should go see the king. He has been waiting to see you,” Annabelle offered before leaving.

Relic bit his lip nervously and began his walk of shame.

“Why where you gone for so long? What did you do? Did you have fun? Are you going to see the twins? Are you going to kill them?” Austriel berated him with questions he either didn’t want to answer or didn’t know how to answer the whole way there.

“Stay out here okay?” he said once they reached Venna’s office. “I’ll be back in a bit and then I can tell you all my stories,” he promised before shooing her.
