Hearts Full of Songs [Take 2] [P-Flame and Kal]

His first attempt had been fairly fruitful, at least bringing one love-struck couple together. Eros was all but beside himself as he drifted over the second continent of Evelon and looked at all the unsuspecting folks below. All with songs inside just waiting to burst out, they just needed that little push so they wouldn't be so shy anymore!

His sails wobbling in the strong sea winds, his ethereal wings he manifested through his magic held strong and steady. He could always use a cloud to drift around on, yes...but he was supposed to be a cupid! And all cupid's had wings! He stretched out his arms and cracked his knuckles. The last time this had worked the Fate-Seer Deadpool had been with him. But he had felt her magic course through him and he was confident he could replicate the magic needed for the spell. Probably. No, most likely.

Inhaling deeply, Eros closed his eyes and concentrated all his energy into his fingertips. At first little pink lights danced around his fingernails, but soon they were two large orbs glowing and growing fast. He moved both hands together, combining the orbs into one giant ball of glittery pink light. Then he released it, and the orb floated down just a few feet before bursting and allowing the oceanic winds to scatter it everywhere.

While not as thick as the glitter layer at the Estates, Eros was certain this amount was enough to coat the entire city, and that was a fabulous start. He watched as the glitter finally began reaching the lungs of those out for a stroll and as songs began to rise into the air, Eros laughed gleefully and rose higher into the air to move onto the next city. By the end of the day, no one would be safe from his song-inducing glitter.

~*~

Below, the glitter was inescapable. It wasn't thick enough to cause alarm, but it hung in the air oddly and seemed to be stuck or waiting for something. When one got close enough their inklings of thought would prove correct, and on their next inhale some of the glitter would fly into their lungs. It didn't hurt or even tickle, but once there it seemed impossible for any amount of coughing or hacking to get rid of it. Very soon after the effects would begin. It would start as a gentle warming of the lungs and heart, almost like that first sip of hot chocolate after hours in the snow. That feeling would continue up the throat of the inhaler, and without warning, a song would burst from their lips.

What song was entirely up to the individual. But one idea held solid--it was the song closest to their heart, and closest to how they viewed love.
"I have been hidden, scorned, adored, worshiped, forsaken, coveted and banished more times than I care to count. But the one thing all those experiences cannot steal from me is the gentle soul I was born with, the kind heart I have molded, and the bright ideals for the future that have lit my way through the darkness of the past."

The young royal walked the strange city streets without a body guard in sight--something she had longed for since her earliest walking days. Ever since her encounter with the sea serpent she had been free of her responsibilities and her confinements...and also completely lost as to what was expected behavior from 'common' people just walking the streets alone.

She still had some of her royal garb on--a highly ornate sash of lush teals and vivid purples embroidered with golden thread hung around her waist and golden-hued silk flats were still on her feet, but she had traded off most of the rest for more inconspicuous attire. A ripped pair of blue jeans were under the sash and a simple purple novelty shirt completed the look. The faint, henna-like tattoos of her people were still visible on her face but luckily it seemed that such things were more common-place tourist traps here by the sea. The faint lines that ran down from the outer corners of her eyes onto her dark olive skin seemed like nothing much to look at to these people. She pushed back a strand of her umber hair that refused to be tames by the twine holding the rest in check, turning suddenly at the sound of a song.

It wasn't terribly surprising at first--after all she had passed many street performers on her journey through Jawan and singing was a more common practice among them. But this man wore a business suit and looked...horrified?...to be singing anything at all. He dashed back and forth in a panic for a moment or two before ducking down an alley. Kayin quickened her pace, but now she could hear more singing from everywhere. And something shimmering in the air.

By the time she noticed something was amiss, it was too late. She had walked right into a wind-trail of the glittery pink stuff and there was no stopping herself from the sharp inhale of surprise. She covered her face instantly and backed up, hoping beyond hope that nothing had gotten in. But she could feel the warmth growing inside and by the time she could feel it on her tongue she couldn't contain it. It started with the single syllable of 'I' and she drew out the note was such a ring of haunting beauty that she surprised even herself. Though it felt strange, she was seeing everyone around her burst into song as well. She felt suddenly compelled to allow her song to flow, as if it would create a trail leading her somewhere her heart desired but was afraid to ask for. She pulled her hands away slowly, allowing the note to drop slowly from her lips. With no idea where the lyrics were coming from within her mind, she just let them flow--equal parts curious and terrified.

"I.....hear your voice on the wind.
And I.....hear you call out my name.
'Listen my child', you say to me, 'I am the voice of your history.'
'Be not afraid, come follow me. Answer my call and I'll set you free.'"

She held the last word at a note she had only heard in the operas her mother had forced her to attend. Her amber eyes widened at the sound of her own voice, so clearly ringing from her lips and yet she had no idea she had ever been capable.

"I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain,
I am the voice of your hunger and pain.
I am the voice that always is calling you, I am the voice.
I will remain."

The warmth that had begun in her lungs and her tongue slowly spread throughout, giving the foreign princess an almost giddy feeling of childhood relived. She closed her eyes, letting the words pour through her mouth as if she could savor each note on her lips and taste each word on her tongue.

"I am the voice of the past that will always be.
Filled with my sorrow and blood in my field.
I am the voice of the future. Bring me your peace...
Bring me your peace and my wounds, they will heal."

She was panting now, exhilarated by the liberating feeling of the song. Exhilarated by the freedom of singing at the top of her lungs among a crowd of strangers with no disapproving glares of her parents of tutors. Exhilarated by the feeling of simply being in this moment, when an entire city was engulfed in a cacophony of songs. Though she listened to her own song she listened also to those erupting around her from the mouths of equally surprised residents, almost hoping to hear one that stood out.
