Finally, they made it to the sea. Laurie padded ahead, her paws sinking into the beach while Marty floated beside her. For a moment, they just stood there together, looking out at the sun shining above the water and the waves.

And then, with a grin and a cry of "Race you!", Laurie rushed down the shore, clawing up sand and sending it flying everywhere as she headed for the sea. Marty was only frozen for a moment, and then he was following, bandages waving behind him like streamers.

"No fair~!" complained Marty playfully as he rushed after his wife. Still, he was laughing, remembering a time when they were younger and she would tap him on the shoulder, point at a target, and rush ahead just like that.

"You can float, it's totally fair!" laughed Laurie. Indeed, the only reason he hadn't caught up to her yet was because of the sand she was kicking up everywhere behind her, which was definitely putting a damper on his attempts to follow her closely.

With a loud splash, Laurie crashed into the ocean, sending salt water spraying everywhere. She shook herself off and grinned over her shoulder, only to see Marty nowhere near.

"Boo," came a voice behind her, and a bandaged snout poked her in the shoulder. She spun around to see Marty hovering there.

"How did you get here so fast?" she asked. "Last I heard, you were still behind me!"

"I circled around, of course," he said. "Like you said, I can hover!"

"Aw, you!" she growled, scooping up a pawful of water to splash him with. "I can't believe you'd do me dirty like this!"

He laughed, sticking his nose into the water to splash her back. Soon, the two of them were running down the beach, splashing each other and laughing. After a while, the two of them sprawled out in the damp sand, letting the waves wash over them and receded repeatedly.

"So," said Laurie with a smile, "you were waiting for me to feed you, weren't you?"

"Yeah!" said Marty. "What've you got?"

With a grin, Laurie stood up and dove deeper into the sea, emerging with a large fish grasped in her jaws.

"This good enough?" she growled playfully.

All too soon, the fish was finished, and the couple's date was nearing an end. Shaking the last of the water out of her fur, Laurie started on the way back to the sea city, Marty hovering beside her.

"Don't forget to buy the scalla," he murmured.

"Of course not," she agreed. "After all, our kids have been very good to us, giving us this chance to go out and enjoy ourselves. They deserve a treat, don't you think?"

"Definitely."
