It wasn't as though he'd said anything incriminating, whatever that might be in these circumstances. Frankly he didn't really know why she cared. Familial concern, maybe, and possibly a desire to keep him out of trouble, but those ideas seemed abstract to him now.

He considered ordering another drink, but his heart wasn't really in it now. It felt like a concession to Senah, somehow, since she had come barging in on his alone time specifically to stop him, but there it was.

Slowly, he rose to his feet, and slowly, he ambled to the desk of the innkeep. Leaning on the counter, he flashed the man a grin. "How much for a room for the night?"

"Hundred gil," said the man. Koh'a nodded, fished out his money pouch, and slapped a few coins onto the counter. The man took them and handed him a key. Koh'a gave him a jaunty salute before making his way into the halls of the inn, trying every door until he came to the one his key was made for.

It was the stupidest possible way to find his room and he knew it, but sometimes he liked playing the part of the sloppy drunk even when he wasn't actually drunk enough to be that dumb. He didn't know why he did it, other than that it was something to do, and at this point boredom felt as much the enemy as anything else. When he was bored for too long, he got to thinking, and lately he liked to think as little as he could.

He was pretty sure he'd disturbed some people with his antics, but all to the better. Being written off as an idiot had its uses, so long as he didn't actually become one. If people were underestimating you, it was easier to get away with stuff, and if they really tried anything, he had the element of surprise on his side.

Of course, once the ruse was up, it was up for good. Once you showed your hand, there was no going back to being written off.

But he really didn't have much going for him besides a small pouch of coin, so he didn't attract much trouble. The one thing adventurers were known for was at least some passing combat ability, since the ones without any tended to end up dead pretty quickly. Between his choice of career and the way he carried on, Koh'a was generally left alone.

The room was a good one, clean, not too large, but just big enough for his needs.
