"Exactly." the doomsberry kuhna spoke, grinning. "An angel to those who needed one..." He let out a small chuckle, his tails flicking back and forth. "Only one with a pure soul could open the door that I was locked behind. Even if your friend here was free of sin, he still wouldn't have been able to, because by nature his kind aren't."

"Not... the nature of his kind?" Lani questioned.  "So, you're saying that even if Zhoril was as pure as I, that just because he's a Trikuhna, he'd not be able to open the door?  What if I were the bane of all Preluhnas?  Would I have still been able to open that door?" She inquired, her fur starting to bristle.

"Must be of the right species, breed, and nature." His tails lashed back and forth slowly behind him. "I suppose you could say that was her way of making sure I couldn't get away. Too bad that didn't work out so well." He didn't seem to be making any attempt at either of their lives though thus far.

Zhoril's head tilted to the side slightly, confused by all this talk.

"Indeed." Lani muttered under her breath.  Turning to Zhoril, she said in a quiet voice, "This talk... disturbs me.  Something here is not right.  We should get out of here--quickly, if possible.  I do not like it when people seem to be thanking you for something you did not know you could do--or that you had intended to do." She said.

Zhoril slid in front of Lani, glancing back at her. "I'll follow after you... but I want you to get a head start in case he tries anything."

Etzal shook his head slowly. "So sad that the two of you are leaving so soon. It was rather nice to have company too."

Lani moved slightly to leave, her ears flattening against her skull and a hiss departing her lips as she turned to leave, but before she did that, she made the probably fatal error of hesitating a moment to turn back to Zhoril and whisper into his ear, "No matter what happens... Just know that I love you, Zhoril." Having exposed her weak side, she turned and ran now, lest the Domsberry ahead of her try anything on them.

Zhoril blushed slightly, waiting a few moments before running after her. He had waited to make sure that Lani wouldn't get charged.

Etzal sighed. Running away... They were no fun at all. He gave a small shrug and began padding down another hall. He had better things to do then to chase after two chicken kuhnas.

Lani turned back to see Zhoril following her, and she headed for the door.  "Who was that, exactly?  His aura... it disturbs me.  I feel like he is a demon..." She said, turning back to the door, her fur standing up on end.  She could still feel his presence around the temple, clinging to its stones.

Zhoril gave a small nod. "Yeah... And his words... talking about some woman..." The Trikuhna shook his head, shuddering. "I don't think he belongs here... This place seems as if it should be a place of everlasting peace... And he seems like he could kill, even though he did let us go."

"This is my fault..." Lani said, shaking her head.  "I pressed my paw to the door that held him at bay..." She said, shaking her head.  "I ought to have known better when I saw you get shocked from pressing the door... but even then, I could still feel his presence." She felt so bad now, now that a demon was loose in Nu'san...

"Don't say that Lani... You didn't know that the door would open." Zhoril lifted his paw, looking at the burns the door had caused. "At least he doesn't seem like he's going to hurt anyone..." Didn't seem like it, put it was always possible. "Just don't blame yourself."

"But are we certain he won't hurt anybody?" Lani asked, her tails darting from side to side with nervousness.  "I mean... he could still hurt someone now that he's out... At least he didn't hurt you.  Or... me." She said, sighing again.  She just wanted out of here...

"I can't be certain of anything, but I know that in my condition if we follow after him and he does attack I won't be able to protect you." He moved a bit closer to her, bumping heads. "I don't want you getting hurt, Lani.... maybe we should just leave. This place isn't as peaceful as I thought it would be."

Lani nodded hesitantly.  "Where... where should we go?  I know not of many places around here where we could be safe from demons... even Idalani seems to have them from time to time.  And you... your condition... you ought to rest." She said, moving closer to him and giving his ears an affectionate lick.  "No matter where you go, I will follow." She said at last, smiling.

"Well... I've heard there is a nice little cafe out in Nabias...." he spoke, nuzzling against her when she licked his ears. "That might be a nice place to take a rest at."

Nabias... it was a ways away, but seemed like a pretty safe place. At least it was away from here and that other kuhna!
