Splatter nodded. "Very pretty." This is getting nowhere, he thought. "Wanna do something," Splatter asked. He wanted skateboard, but he figured he'd let Kaya decide.

Kaya wasn't sure whay she wanted to do. She usually just came to sight-see. "Um, I don't know," she said. She stood up and looked around her. Something in one of the trees caught her attention. It looked like a roughly thrown together tree house. "What is that?" she asked. She slowly made her way over to the tree. She hopped onto a low haning branch and climbed up the remander of the tree until she reached the wooden planks. "Come look at this," she called to Splatter. It wasn't much, but it wasn't something one usually saw at Idalani Falls.

Splatter cocked his head and ran to her. "Strange..." Splatter climbed into it and started jumping up and down. The treehouse shook under Splatter's weight, but it didn't fall. "Safety check."

Kaya smiled. "Thanks," she said and brushed past him further into the little house. It looked like someone had been living there for a short while, but had abandoned it. She soon saw why. Half of the roof was collasped and didn't look repairable. She saw a birds nest higher up in the tree. Below the nest was a pile of bird poop. She grimaced and shook her head. Birds are such filthy creatures, she thought. She stepped carefully around the pile. She hadn't realized the house was so big. She looked around her as she walked. Almost every surface was covered with dust. She soon came across a dust covered, cracked picture frame on the floor. She brushed the dust away and felt the dust particles go into her nose. She sneezed and even more dust flew up around her. When the dust settled she got a better look at the picture. In the picture was a happy family of kuhnas. "Come look at this," she called to Splatter, reminding herself of a broken reacord. "Someone used to live here," she said soflty, almost to herself. As she peered closer to the picture she noticed that it was a mother and father with one lone kit. She felt a pang of grief for the family. I don't even know them, she thought.

Splatter walked over. He rubbed some dust off the picture. "Don't they look familier. I' sure don't know them, but they look so familier..." Splatter thought back to his room in Kiari's mansion-pen. Where were they from...

They looked familiar to Kaya as well, but she wasn't sure where she had seen them before. She closed her eyes, trying to think. How are they familiar to me if they are familiar to him? I just met him, she thought. The dust around them seemed to be from over years of time. Maybe I met them when I was younger, she thought. Doubt that.

Splatter's head started to hurt. "I know them, but I had no idea how." He started to pace. Friends of Mom and Dad's... No, he thought and went over everyone he knew, even people who weren't kuhnas.

Kaya flipped the picture frame over with her paw, careful not to cut herself on the cracked glass. She saw gold letters on the back of it. She squinted closer and made out the words. "Float, Narillis, Kaya," she mumbled to herself. She placed a shaky paw on the words. "Splatter, I used to live here," she whispered, glancing at him; the realization shaking her.Her voice cracked. "That's why I love to come to Idalani. I used to live here," she said. Then she turned to look around her. She didn't remember this place at all; she hadn't even known her parents. She had been told she was orphaned and taken in by her current owner for a small fee. She was shaking, her usual calm exterior breaking and giving way to the afraid girl she really was.

Splatter now knew why he remembered them. He stepped closer to her. "That's why I remember them, we used to play as kits," Splatter said and kicked a rusted nail away from his paw. He had no idea what Kaya felt like because he knew his parents. His dad taught him to skate, but Splatter suspected Kaya never met her parents, or at least didn't remember them.

"We did?" Kaya asked the arkuhna, completely aware of how insecure she looked. She eyes, above all, spoke of how insecure she now was. She had always avoided any discussion of them because it brought her pain. "I was probably to young to remember," she said looking down at her feet. She felt tears swell in her eyes. "I don't remember anything about my parents," she choked out as the tears rolled down her cheeks. "I'm such a bad person," she added.

"No you're not! Heck, I barely remember anything about my parents. The only thing I can remember is that my dad taught me how to skate and my mom could cook well," Splatter said. That really was all he remembered. Splatter nudged Kaya. "It's ok."

Kaya smiled despite her tears. "Thanks," she said, though she still felt horrible. "I'm glad I've got a friend like you," she said, "Even though I hardly know you." She searched Splatter's eyes, looking for the sincerity she heard in his voice.

Splatter smiled at her. "No problem. Let's get outta here, all the rusted nails are making me nervous. We can take the picture if you want to," Splatter said and glanced at the small family in the picture.

Kaya nodded. Then she pried the picture from its frame and shelp onto it with her one tail. Then she turned to navigate their way out of the broken down treehouse. She stepped over broken boards and rusted nails. Eventually she was at the door of the house. She stepped daintily out and proceded to climb down the tree, a much harder task than going up.

Splatter eased his way down after Kaya. Oh boy... He closed his eyes. Splatter took a deep breath. I'm not going to fall. I'm not going to die. I'm going to make it down.
