Often called the 'Lover's Triangle' for the trio of waterfalls feeding in to a triangular gorge, the Idalani area is a picture-perfect place to spend time with that special someone, with a beautiful exotic backdrop and countless rainbows dancing across the sky. (+2 Speed)

Return to Idalani Waterfalls

(HUNT) Researching the Rainforest (Private)

(Human form currently, may take quad form later)

A young boy was sitting on a rock next to a series of waterfalls, jotting down notes in a notebook. He was a peculiar looking fellow, with snow white hair, silvery eyes, and elegant white and gold robes and boots. He was short in stature, judging by how he sat. Strangest of all, however, were the flickering, pale blue flames that enveloped his hands. They did not burn anything that they touched, suggesting that there was some sort of magical force behind them.

Devoc had been sent to Idalani Falls to do some research on the environment and the creatures that lived in the rainforest. His father was a scholar of history, and one of his colleagues had requested information on Idalani. Devoc, being a generous and intellectual boy, was eager to assist. So here he was now, writing notes on the scenery and listening to the calming sounds of the falling water. The rainforest sure was a peaceful place.

Idalani was a gentle, serene area. If she wanted to settle anywhere that would be serene and not very wild, she would probably find this to be the best place available. She was still a long ways away from finding where she "belonged," but at least a few areas had been more welcoming than others. It was because of her very human-like behavior and abilities that made it hard for her to fit in the wild. It was hard to fit in when you couldn't understand the language of the "natives."

She was exploring the area when she spotted a strange human all by himself, a notebook in his hands. She knew what a notebook was; she'd seen a lot of them while she had been with her small group of human friends. But the red panda was a curious one by nature; whatever was unknown to her was very intriguing, and her curiosity often got the best of her. It often lead her into trouble, such as stepping into a wild animal's territory without meaning to. That human's flames were certainly intriguing, and so her curiosity was too much to handle as she decided to approach this human.

Carefully and slowly, the red panda started approaching the boy. She took careful and quiet steps so as to not alarm the human, but it didn't long for her to step on a stray branch and other debris that were scattered around. She lifted a paw in surprise when she heard the branch crack loudly, ears perked up and looking at the human to see if she'd alarmed him.

It was the water than had drawn him here. Though his memories of the others were fading, much to the warrior's distress, Rowen knew that one of the armors was connected to the water. Locations were non-existent and faces were almost gone, but the elements still had a draw on him. Then again, he had no idea whether this would actually lead him to the one he sought or to another dead end like the last one. It was just a feeling, an impulse, nothing more.

The archer ran a hand through his blue hair, for once glad he had decided to leave his armor at home. The hike here had been longer than he was expecting, and he probably wouldn't have made it this far if he were still wearing it. Plus, the armor would come at his call if he should have need of it. He still carried his bow and quiver, though, the gold weaponry glimmering on his back with the occasional beam of sunlight through the canopy.

"I don't even know why I'm out here," he muttered to himself. He was certainly getting tired of wild goose chases lead by some desire he couldn't understand. His feet stopped instinctively at the edge of the clearing, golden gaze surveying the scene around him. Nothing much as far as he could tell, just a boy and... a panda? What?

The falls never stayed frozen for long. It was relatively warmer here than in most places, and the cliff sides behind the falls had an amazing amount of small caves and other crevices to hide in. The Sauria had been passing through on his way back to the Volcano, hoping that by the time he reached his home, the hunters would have given up on finding him and gone. He was lucky they hadn’t caught his trail this last time, or he would’ve been forced to run father than even this. The last time he’d run, he’d ended up nearly freezing to death in Sekudui. The forest near the falls was relatively lush, even in this cold weather, and despite the faint frost, fruit still grew on a multitude of trees.

A few were frostbitten, but the Sauria wasn’t picky. He munched on the fruits, easily tall enough to see over their tops. He crouched down on the forest floor, a small pile of assorted, differently colored fruits curled in his claws. As he ate, he was unaware that there was a ‘human’ nearby, studying the different creatures and plants of the falls. But once the wind shifted, he caught the ‘human’s’ scent, and his neck frills rose in alarm. His body stilled, freezing as though it had turned to stone, and he lowered his head, peering through the thick trees.

He could vaguely make out the sight of a boy on the rocks, and some strange little creature sneaking up behind him, making a bit too much noise for something so small. Shaking his head and snorting quietly, the Sauria rose to leave unobtrusively, when his back brushed against the treetops. The resounding echo of displaced birds and the rain of sudden leaves and fruit would be enough to send anyone looking in his direction.

I love adventurous tales like that. That uplifting feeling that comes from seeing unknown lands and the knowledge that you came across—nothing can replace it! It opens a path from which self-confidence, experience, and important friendships—from the sharing of life or death situations—are born! But hearing it just isn’t the same. I want to create my own magnificent story!

A great adventure!

(There's 4 people here, but that's ok xD It was my fault for not mentioning that you could just jump in. So we'll continue on like this.)

Devoc was deep in thought when he heard the branch snap behind him. He let out a little "eep!" of alarm and jumped up from his rock, whirling around to face whatever it was. He was a skittish sort. There on the ground was a strange, raccoon-like creature, except it was red colored and much cuter looking. He had never seen such an animal before. The animal did not seem very harmless, so Devoc took a small step forward and crouched down. "Hello," he whispered to the animal. "What might you be?"

Before he could say or do anything else, however, there was a loud ruckus from the trees. Devoc let out another cry of surprise and gazed to the side with wide eyes. Birds flew away from the treetops, clearly alarmed by something. He thought he could see something white rise above the canopy, though it disappeared a moment later. Confused, he turned back to the raccoon-critter to see if it had run off. The rainforest was definitely a strange place, and also potentially dangerous. He would pick up the little red animal and run away from whatever it was that made the commotion if need be. Devoc was so distracted by the animal and the noise that he failed to notice the warrior nearby.

The red panda hunched over when Devoc reacted to the noise, but hearing and seeing his reaction to the noise, she felt a bit more at ease. If he got uneasy at the sound of a cracking branch, maybe this human wasn't aggressive or dangerous. It wasn't something she'd thought of upon first approaching him, so thankfully he didn't seem like a dangerous type.

Her haunches were raised and her belly flattened against the ground, both to indicate that she wasn't a threat, and also out of surprise and doubt. She was certainly curious about the flames of the human, but she also didn't know if she could really go along with that plan, now that Devoc had noticed her. She stared up at him, her expression very human-like, showing doubt, but also curiosity. She opened her maw for a moment, but then she, too, jumped when she heard the noise coming from the rainforest nearby.

She jumped and faced the rainforest, belly still flat against the ground. Her tail was upright and her ears alert, wondering what had made so much noise and why some of the birds were even flying away. When she heard Devoc shuffle back to look at her again, she also turned to look back at him. She wasn't sure what to do at this point; whether to say something or to act like a regular wild animal. But to her knowledge, speaking animals weren't strange to humans, to a certain extent. But what if he thought she was a freak, and he wanted to catch her and sell her? But she figured she was still faster than Devoc, and he seemed nice enough for her to give him the benefit of the doubt. "I'm... a red panda," she replied simply, her speech clear as any human's, with no sign of animal sounds or "accent."

Rowen had leaned himself against a tree, watching the almost quaint scene before him. He supposed that there couldn't be any kind of threat from these two, not with the boy's reaction and that submissive pose taken by the panda. Both seemed skittish yet intelligent, like himself. Maybe some company would do him some good, seeing as how long he had lived alone.

He made to move forward, possibly to join them, but the crash from the forest startled him. He jumped out from the treeline and spun around to face into the trees, hand straying to his bow out of instinct. Though he couldn't tell what it was that had made the noise, he caught a glimpse of something white through the trees. White and big. Well, whatever it was, he was ready if it meant to attack.

The boy sitting near the falls didn’t seem to be a threat. From the way he reacted to the Red Panda (Something the Sauria didn’t quite recognize, but knew was rare; if he’d never seen was, it was almost guaranteed that there were few, if any, in the world). Neither Panda nor boy would pose a problem for him, should he choose to show himself. But the man who had appeared next, the one who carried weapons, was another matter entirely. He was well aware that he’d been spotted, and he would be unable to lift clear of the trees with his wings; the space was too cramped here.

He would need to get by the archer. The arrows posed little problem; he doubted they could pierce his skin. The archer would need something along the lines of a spear to do any significant damage. Deciding it would be best to use the ‘scare tactics’ approach, the Sauria flared out the frills on the side of his head, hissing as he slid through the trees, towards the archer, the boy, the Panda, and escape. “Stand aside.” The voice came from within his own consciousness, transferred to theirs. It was accompanied by a snarl and a roar, the frills on his head rattling as he shook it.

Devoc's eyes widened in surprise when he heard the "red panda" speak. He had heard animals talk in this world before, but the unfamiliarity of the species added to his amazement. "Red panda?" he repeated. "Oh, I have never heard of such a species before... Do you happen to be, um, native to this area?" But then the boy thought that it was strange asking an intelligent, sentient creature about "nativity", so he amended his statement. "Er, rather...where do you come from?" He hoped he wasn't being too direct or forward.

Devoc prepared to jot some notes down on the "red panda", but before he could write down anything, a loud hissing emanated from the trees. He jumped and whirled around to see a man with a bow and arrow (when did he get there?), and he also thought he spotted a huge, gold and white, lizard-like shape moving through the forest. The man appeared to be aiming for whatever was coming towards them.

Then the boy heard a booming voice in his mind. “Stand aside.” Shortly after there was a great roar from the beast in the trees. Devoc felt his heart start to race. What was this creature? He knew that some of his own race, the Dragonians, could use thought-speech like the one he just heard. This monster couldn't possibly also be a Dragonian, could it? He glanced around, looking for somewhere to hide. He scurried up to the red panda and spread his arms in an offer to pick her up. "I-I think we must get somewhere safe!"

The archer watched the dragon emerge from the trees, a hissing, roaring, flaring creature. He took a step back, more out of reflex than fear. He had seen monsters before, had fought them, and had won. If it chose to attack, his bow would be in his hand in a moment. Though he didn't know how much it would take for him to win such a battle, having not fought such a thing alone in quite some time, but he would try.

The voice in his head told him such violence would probably be unnecessary. He had learned that anything sentient, unless inherently evil, was unlikely to attack them. Unless they were given a good reason, that it. Better to not give the dragon a reason to attack. He dropped his hand from his weapon and gave the dragon a bow.

"My apologies," he shouted, hoping the Battleheart could hear him. Right now he wished he has such a talent for telepathic communication. That would make this much easier.
