James pushed through the brush easily, holding a few branches for Shane so they wouldn’t hit her in the face. “thanks.” She said smiling at him. James nodded and turned around, going further off of the main path. “Are you sure you saw anything?” he asked doubtfully he didn’t see anything out of the normal. “Yes I’m positive, it’s just up ahead, I can feel it.” She said her tone a little sharp, she didn’t care much for the doubt that James had in her.

“Yes… I see something.” James whispered, his voice sounded like he didn’t quite believe what he was seeing, or saying. But there was something there. A rose, floated just above the ground, it wasn’t fully bloomed but had an ethereal beauty that stopped both kuhna in their tracks. “What is that?” Shane asked, she saw a rose but it was nothing like any rose she had seen before. She took a tentative step forward but was stopped by James. “We don’t know if it’s dangerous or not.” He warned, blocking her way towards the flower.

[Sarah]

“I’m sure I’ll be fine.” She growled trying to move around him. “No, it’s not safe.” He hissed at her, “but if you want proof, I’ll go get it and you stay here.” he said giving her a hard stare. Feeling defeated Shane just nodded and sat down to wait for James to retrieve the alien flower. With a moment of hesitation James padded forward, praying to the gods that he would live. He stopped just before the rose, and slowly held out a paw. Getting close enough to grab it, but far enough away that he could turn tail and run if anything happened.

His paw touched the rose; it felt cool on his paw pad, a few seconds of unsettling silence commenced. Then a binding light encompasses the two, it flashed around them, making it impossible to see anything. As soon as it appeared the light dissipated and the rose was gone. “Let’s get the hell out of here.” Shane said, her voice trembling. James nodded, not looking back to see if the rose was still around. Both kuhna turned tail and ran back the way they had come. Slipping up the pathway to the top of the falls.

“So we won’t speak of this right? We saw nothing.” James clarified when they had caught their breath. Shane looked really shaken up but she nodded, no one would know about what happened to them. Laughing nervously Shane shook her head. “They would think we were crazy if we told them about this anyway.” She said between giggles. James chuckled but looked at Shane, concern bright in his eyes. “I suppose so.” He agreed, sitting a little closer to her, a serene feeling came over him, like this was exactly where he was supposed to be. Looking at Shane, he could tell that she felt the same.
