Before he could think, Runic found himself being hoisted up against his will. He hated being dependant on another, it was not the demon way. He'd really much rather she left him alone. Pulling back, he tried to glare at her but she was too busy trying to brace herself against him. As her arm came around his back, he froze in surprise. In his earlier confusion, he hadn't realized he was in his human form. When did he do that? Suddenly it made much more sense that she was treating him like this, she didn't know what he was. An angel would be more sympathetic to a human, killer or not.
That didn't change the fact Runic didn't want to be helped. He tried to peel her off of him, but with little success. Finally, she pleaded to him and he paused. Clearly she wasn't giving up and he could sense that. Exhaustion swept through him and he relented, a bitter expression on his face. The two of them clambered up the slope and when they reached the trees, she let him down and he leaned against the tree gratefully.
