Hallow paused again. She sniffed at the air. "Looks like there's an opening up that way." she said. She padded over and looked up. Sure enough, there was a hole up to the night air. "Here we go." she said.

[Kittyms]

"I wonder where it leads," Max muttered aloud, even as he peered up. Approaching the wall, he saw to his relief that there were steps leading up to the surface. Digging his claws into the stone ledges, he heaved himself up and out through the hole. Taking a quick glance around, he breathed a sigh of relief to see that they appeared to still be in the forest. "It's safe, come on up," he called down to Hallow.

Hallow clambered quickly up the steps. She shook herself when she was up. Flecks of dirt rained off of her coat. "Phew, it was a bit stuffy down there. Its a relief to be back in the open..." she said. She sniffed at the cool breeze. The air smelled like rain. "Smells like a rain shower is on the way..." she said.

"That would be a relief," Max sighed. "Might also explain why it smelled so damp in the tunnel." He stretched his muscles, glad to be out in the open air once more. "What do you want to do now?" he asked, still stretching his arms and back. "We should probably go somewhere a little more sheltered if it's going to be pouring soon."

"Sounds good to me." said Hallow. She looked up at the sky. A raindrop fell on her nose and she sneezed. "Lets hurry, or well get soaked." she said. She began to trot down the path.

((Having a brain jam, short post.))

"Right," he said, and broke into a jog, keeping pace with Hallow easily. "I'm not entirely sure where we are, but if there's a path here, than there will probably be houses. Or we could always find shelter in the forest," he suggested, looking wistfully at the trees. He would much rather hide out in the woods than have to ask for hospitality from someone. "Unless... you want to "borrow" someone's house." He grinned, this new idea appealing to him even more.

Hallow smiled. "Whatever you want my dearest." said Hallow. Where it was didn't matter much to her. "I suppose that a house would be warmer and drier. And I suppose that there are some vacant houses." she added. A few more raindrops make darker spots on her coat.

[Kittyms]

"One thing's for certain - we can not stay out here any longer without getting drenched." Max broke into a jog, his keen nose lifted into the air. It took one whiff for him to discover that there was indeed a house nearby. He couldn't tell if it was currently occupied or not, but he did know that at least one human had been there recently. Altering trajectory so that he was now heading straight for the house, he looked over at Hallow and smiled. "There's a house right through these trees here, if you haven't smelled it for yourself."

Hallow sniffed and peered into the trees. "Huh, I guess I missed it." she said. She followed after Max, skirting the growing puddles. There were no lights on, and the front porch looked in need of a sweep. "Looks like nobody's been here for a few months..." she said. Peering in through a window.

((Geh. I've been busy and I had some rps to reply to so I just got to this one now. ^^;;))

"Hmm," Max said, trying the front door. It was locked, but fortunately there was a tiny piece of metal sticking up out of the porch. He ripped it out, and used it to pick the lock. Opening the door, he poked his head in to look around, then held it open. "After you," he said, smiling roguishly. "I doubt they have any food, but it will be dry, and it should be interesting to poke around and see what they have."
