Calamity helped Jessica and Xanthos put quite a few lillies in a large container along with at least three liters of the disgusting green sludge that filled the lake. She also helped them cover the glass container with many sheets of blankets so as the lillies didn't get any light but that strange purple glow.
"If they get ANY light, they will all die instantly," she informed the two compainions as she strapped the container onto Xanthos' belly where it wouldn't get hit by his knees when he ran.
After they had the lillies safely strapped on and had said their goodbyes to Calamity, Xanthos began to run down the tunnels again listening closely for Jessica's directions of which turns to take.

The tunnels seemed even longer on the way back. Jessica was straining her eyes to see the scribble on her piece of paper that served as directions in Xanthos' soft glow. He was speeding down the tunnels as fast as he could, which turned out to be pretty fast. He got to forks in notime and it was difficult for Jessica to say directions before he had to stop and wait. He was patient though, and it was a few hours before they made it back to the huge cavern at the cave's entrance.

The light at the entrance was blinding, so the two stopped and waited for their eyes to adjust. In the meantime, Jessica hopped off Xanthos' back and checked the container. It was still completely covered and safely secured. Her fears relieved and eyes adjusted, she got back on Xanthos and he started running as fast as he could out of the cave, spreading his wings and taking to the sky. He was overjoyed at the fact that he was now one step closer to gaining his voice, so happy infact, he was doing aerial tricks.
