Hidden in the Mist (Privite Ningai and I)

Postby D3thNote » 06/10/2010 3:18 PM

It was dark and the fog surrounded everything like usual. I had been here many times and learned all the hidden passages, or so I thought. I was mostly alone here, beside the wondering doomed creatures that had fallen into the cluches of the darkness. The darkness took even the most noble of creatures and turned them into unconsious being that attack anything they see. Not many creatures survive.

I was walking through the mist like I do every night, but there was something differant today. There weren't as many doomed creatures out. Normaly they are swarming the area and I need to be extra carefull so that they don't spot me.
I looked through the fog and saw a blur in the distance. It must have been a doomed creature, so I hid as fast as I could behind some ruins. I sat there and watched as it came closer.

For death is not always...

This place was new to me, but I was aware of the dangers that it held. I had already decreased the population by at least half. They were like zombies, no thoughts, no feelings. As far as I was conerned I was doing them a favour.

I glided through the air, slowly and causious of any wandering being that may attack. I could have sworn that I saw something- but then it was gone. I thought that something was neer the broken building, but I couldn't be sure. This was no place for second guessing. I gently landes on a pillar that was broken years before. I landed so lightly not to make a sound. I glared out into the mist hoping to see what it was.
You're not afraid of the dark are you?

"I'm not afraid of dying." "How do you know? You've never tried it before!"

"I'm the best at what I do, but what I do isn't very nice."

"You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villan."

"You alone are trying to bring down a monster. As a cop that's impossible. You must become a monster."

I looked through the for the blurry creature, but I couln't find it anymore! I began to think that I was just being paranoid so i stood up a little, but still protected but the ruins. I looked around some more, and still nothing. As I waitted more minutes passed and the more I began to think that it was my imagination. I slipped out from behind the broken structure and slowly inched my way forward. I couldn't help but feel uneasy. I walked far enough into the open that I was now an open target for any doomed being.

The creature finaly came back into the opening, and I knew that I had to strike right away. The creature was large and strong by the look of it. It's hard enough dealing with the small doomed creatures let alone a larger strong one!
I lept into the air and with unthinkable speed swooped at it. I was aiming for the creature's neck. That was the one sure way to kill it with a single strike. My claws was sharp at the ready and no creature could out run me. I was sure I would make the kill shot! (Though killing the creatures never meant that they would stay dead. Normaly their bodies recovered in one or two days, so they would just be down till then.)

Suddenly I heard a swooping through the air! I looked above me to see a creature comming in for the kill. I moved to the side quicker than the eye can see, but not quick enough! The creatures claws slashed open my right shoulder and now it was dripping blood. I never liked fighting. I never did fight for that matter. I never needed to before because I was never seen by the doomed ones. I had lived here all my life, it was all I had ever known. I wasn't born here, but I grew up here. It didn't matter at the moment though, because they found me! I crouched down to defend myself and stared at my enemy. I waitted for the next strike. The only way I was going to survive was by evading the attacks- then again I didn't realy think that I would survive! I wouldn't be able to dodge attacks forever! If I tried to fight it I would surely loose, and this thing could keep attacking forever! I was trapped. There was no escape and surely I would eventually fall victum to the creature before me. My time was up.

I looked at the creature with amazement. No creature had ever been able to evade my attack before! It was like he was the mist! But now wasn't the time to admire, I had to kill it before it killed me. I swooped don again and attacked it. I kept attacking it over and over!

The creature came down on me again, and for some reason I kept evading it! It kept on attacking and each time I was just able to get away, though every swoop left a new cut. I was leeding everywhere. But once again, it didn't matter. My instinct to survive was too great. I looked back at it as it flew back up for its next attack.

I began my decent upon the creature again. I was so close to it- then i suddenly pulled up. Something wasn't right. The creature hadn't been trying to fight back! I was confused about it, so I decided to take a risk. I glided down and stiid on the ground, fairly close to the creature. I figured that I could srvive an attack from it, and what was one injury! :P I could handle it. I looked back at the creature ready to evade at any moment.

This strike was going to be the last! I wasn't able to take anymore. I was instantly surprised though when the creature flew ofer my head instead of killing me! I looked at it as it glided to its landing. It was staring right at me, and I at it. I wasn't sure if it was trying to tease me, but how could it? It was an unconcious being. I stared at it for a bit while it stared back at me. "I give in. Kill me already." I wispered to myself. I was tired. I didn't even care anymore about why it wasn't finishing me off. I just wanted it to end.

I was shocked at what I had heard. "Kill you? Why aren't you trying to kill me?" I said with surprise. I wasn't sure what was going on. I had never heard any of the previous doomed creatures talk before, but that wasn't the main thing bothering me. I was more concerned with the fact that the creature wasn't trying to kill me!

I was surprised! I replied, "Huh? You heard that- whait, you can talk? That means you're not a Doomed One!" I was so shocked that I even forgot about the fact that the creature almost killed me! I looked at it with a little more spunk in my body. Before the creature could reply I continued, "Who are you? Why are you here- no, how are you here?" I finally stopped talking to let the creature respond.

Wow, I never thought a creature could talk so much in one breath! I was amused by it's reaction. I now I knew for a fact that it too wasn't one of the doomed. Whether the doomed could speak or not, I was unsure. But one thing that I knew was that they don't have emotions! This creature definately did! I finally decided to answer the creature after a few seconds of peaceful scilence. "I came from a fare distance away and I'm here because I like the solitude." I said before remembering the first question the creature asked. "Oh and my name is, Jason." I lied. My name was definately not Jason, but I didn't trust the creature enough with my real name, so Jason would do. "What is your name? And why are you here?" I said, redirecting the questions.

"I was born here!" I said happily, though with some sorrow hidden below. I continued, "My name is Kage. By the way, do you know whaqt happened to all of the doomed? There seems to be verry few today." I looked at Jason hoping that maybe he could stick around. I never realy had much company, so it was nice to finaly talk to someone.

The creature finaly seemed to be settling down. For someone who says they grew up here, he sure is friendly. Unfortunately for him, I'm not so upbeat. "I killed them." I stated to answer Kage's question. I was about to ask him where he lives, but before I could I saw a creature appear behind Kage. Suddenly and without warning I swooped by Kage and attacked the creature behind.

I was stunned at Jasons remark. I had never known about any creature who could defeat so many doomed. That's why I had learned how to become invisiable. Without warning I instantly saw Jason come flying towards me! My first thought was that he dicided he wanted to kill me for the heck of it, but then he just whipped by like a bolt of lightning. I wasn't sure what just happened.
