Once home to the Crystal Cities of the Hunter clans, Craiss Caverns is now a hollow empty shell of its former glory due to a strange misfortune in the past. Man-made tunnels now lead to this place, but tales tell of some never returning. (+3 Defense, +2 Offense)

Return to Craiss Caverns

From Crystal to Gold [P, Aussie and Elf] (RE2)

Every few seconds, he would stop and touch something.  Most of the time, it would be a rock, or maybe a lone crystal sticking out of a wall.  And after a second, it would begin to change.  The inside would shimmer, and soon it was growing.  Or so it seemed to be.  What was really happening was due to Alchemy.  Just recently, Zuel had mastered it on other things besides trees and lead, and was eager to try it out.  And since Craiss had so many different rocks, it was the perfect training ground, per say.  He was really leaving a trail behind him with the gold rocks and crystals, but at the time, it never occurred to him.  He was to busy testing out his powers.  But later on, he might find that leaving a trail can be a big mistake.

If you knew knew what the bluebirds sang at you
You would never sing along
Cast them out cause this is our culture
These new flocks are nothing but vultures

Because they took our love and they filled it up
Filled it up with Novocaine and now Im just numb
And don't mind me, Im just a son of a gun
So dont stop, dont stop until your heart goes numb
I dont feel a thing for you

Day 916 in space. Sable had been approaching the planet for the past two days now, and from space it looked very similar to Earth. Now she was finally getting close enough to do some examinations of it. The redheaded American pressed a few buttons andtyped something in. One of the side monitors started flashing as the spacecraft ran the routine tests, atmosphere, gravitational pull, amount of water, the like. After a few minutes, the internal computer beeped, and the data results appeared on one of the other secondary monitors. The astronaut scanned over the results. Atmospheric pressure, oxygen levels... all were surprisingly similar to Earth's. There was an unidentified element in the air, but the onboard computer ruled it out as harmless. Excitement showed in the girl's eyes. This planet seemed like a highly likely canidate for extraterrestrial life. Intrigued, Sable resumed the pilot's seat, and the podlike craft headed towards Evelon's surface...

~~~
A loud roar resounded through the forests surrounding Craiss Caverns as a white blob appeared in the sky. The podlike rocket - or was it a rocketlike pod? -  beared down towards the surface at an angle, slamming right through the Caverns entrance and lodging itself there. There was a loud boom, and the ground shook violently from the force of the impact. There was a sigh-like whine as the engines died down. Inside he Earthling was failing to get the systems up. 3 out of the 5 back-up computers were refusing to come on. Must be outside damage. Sable glanced out of the pod window to get a look at what the planet was like. Unfortunately for her, all she could see was rock. She glanced at the atmosphere scanning one last time to be sure there were no precautions needed. None. Too strange. Sable pressed the vacuum button, strapping on an oxygen mask as the ship sucked all of the air back into the tanks. That done, she pushed the vacuum button on the mask and took it off.
From the white exterior of the craft a hatch suddenly became visible as it swung open. Sable hopped out. Something was wroung. She could feel it. The craft was bigger in comparison to herself than it should be. Sable turned around to close the hatch -  and froze. Her spacesuit was lying on the ground. She was not wearing it. I'd hopped out. The astronaut suddenly became aware that she was standing on all fours. With growing horror, she raised her hands, and her eyes widened in shock.
They were not hands. Not human hands. No, they were the clawed hands of a primate. Sable stared for a moment. And looked down. Her feet were no longer feet, but matched what had been formerly her hands. Her legs, her arms, her belly - she was covered in thick, golden monkey hair.
At this point you had to admire her for not screaming. But as she twisted around, she couldn't help but let out a shriek at the surprise that met her. She had a tail. Yes, but that was not what caused her to shriek. Rather...
My tail is on fire! If she'd still been a human at this discovery, she would have handled it much more calmly and efficiently. But having just been turned into some sort of monkey, Sable wasn't thinking as straight as normally. Doing the first thing that came to mind, she started jumping up and down and stamping on the end of her tail, Attempting to put the flames out. It had not yet registered that she could not feel the flames. And as any Evelonian knows, the effort to put them out was futile.
Zuel litterally jumped up four or five feet in the air when he heard that scream.  Rushing back, he looked around.  At first, he didn't see anything, but then an object caught his eye.  It was some type of pod, designed for space travel, most likely, and it was firmly lodged into the roof of the cavern.  But it former occupant was dancing around like a Roosken with its head cut off a few feet away.  Walking over, it was all he could do not to laugh at the sight.  "Hey there.  You know you can't put that out, right?"  It was odd, seeing the little thing trying to put its own flame out.  The efforts were simply futile.  A darkflame kuhna couldn't put their natural flame out, nor could an elder or ancient kuhna, so why in the world would this thing think it could?  "What in the name of Zu'hai is wrong with you?" he asked, grabbing the her in order to stop her from stomping on her tail anymore.  "So?"
Sable stopped, her paws landing on her newfound as a voice sounded from behind her. No, not a voice. A sort of meowing. But she could understand its meaning. She turned her head behind her to see a creature approaching. Was this what it was like to be an animal? To somehow understand other species communication?
It appeared to be a feline - like species, slightly bigger than your average housecat. It's ears were rounded, and it had... two tails?! The coloration was awfully dumbfounding as well. The main fur color was black - nothing special there - but the striping was a mix between green and red... fantasy colors for any earthen animal. As it got closer she noticed that was a double set of wings on it's back, similar in structure to a bat's...however, they were much too small to enable any sort of flight...
Although she had heard the words, the astronaut was in too big a state of shock to fully register the words until the feline forcefully put a paw on her. Startled, she quickly moved away, making sure to get off the tail. Now that she actually did pay attention, she noticed that it didn't hurt at all. Odd. She'd have to ask about that later, if there was an opportunity. She looked up at the other creature, but avoided looking directly in it's eyes, in case that was an offensive gesture (she knew it was with a lot of animals back home, but here she was uncertain). Had she offended him by standing on her tail? Or was the paw a predatory gesture? Although there were no visible claws now, there was a chance it had retractable ones.
Bes to try to clear things up. "Hello." she said - or rather tried to say, as it ended up as monkey sounds. Was she doing this right? Hopefully she was. The 'I come in peace' phrase crossed her mind, but she natuarlly dismissed it as too cliche. "I don't mean any harm.." Sable's eyes glanced around the creature for a moment of uncertainty before returning to the face. "...Do you?"
