"Irantamael" Hiraebe ; female

How long had it been since she'd been away? The Akail couldn't remember, but the sight of this place nearly brought her to tears. She held them in with some difficulty, tentacles and tailtip twitching and betraying her nerves to her companion. Well, the Kuhna was only there with her because it was a necessity. No member of the Cirque was allowed to go out alone, no matter the circumstances. The dangerous ones from Bone City were always on the prowl, searching for innocents to take down in their macabre little games.
Hiraebe did not plan on staying with the diminutive Kuhna for long.
"..." She stared at Hemathyre out of the corners of her eyes, unwilling to pull too much attention away from the mouth of the cave she had been born in. It called to her, magnetizing her, drawing her into its depths...
Without hesitation, she made a break for it, dashing into the darkness and slithering up the stone walls, praying silently that the Kuhna would stay well away...

Hemathyre ~ female

Hemathyre did not know why she was being allowed to venture away from the Cirque. Here, there were no knives, nothing but her claws and stones to bring forth blood from her veins. Thinking this, she bent to take a mouthful of sharp pebbles, scraping them against her gums until her spit tasted strongly of iron. Only then was it safe to swallow, and revel in the scalding pain.
Hemathyre could no longer keep her mouth shut. Instead, it hung open lamely, dripping trails of pink, bubbly saliva onto the dark stone below. She paid no mind to the strange, discolored Akail beside her. It did not bother her to be left alone. In fact, things were better this way. Now, she was free to roam and find the perfect edge by which she could bleed again...

(escaped from NaNo to do this - shhh! It can never know!)

The cool rock did wonders for her feet... claws... whatever they were. Hiraebe felt more and more at home the farther she was swallowed by the shadows. Already she could hear the distantly familiar whisperings of the cave dwellers; they drew at her soul, leading it home. Or, at least, she thought it was home; it smelled the same, felt the same on the scales of her stomach. Her tentacles waved to greet it, flickering about in order to brush the condensation off of the rock face. She could sense the distance growing between herself and the Kuhna she had left behind, and it bred a strange chilling sensation in her stomach. Hiraebe couldn't tell if this was good or bad, but she was in ecstasy enough to forget it, for the moment...
