A bad Feeling [Hunt-Self]

A lone Albie padded quietly through the endless looking cave. Even though it was dark, her aqua colored fur shone brilliantly. She found that she was talking to herself. "Right Efi.. This may be frightening, but you can do it. Darkness doesn't always hide something. Just think of this as a casual stroll.." Efi was tough, and she wouldn't let herself crack.

She had received a mission from a spirit, it had said that she must find a creature, a creature that lived in this cavern. It was crucial for both her and it. But there was also this vision, a vision of herself leaving the cave empty handed. And her visions were always true. She was unsure. Visions could also be tricky. They could mean something that you didn't know would happen, some dramatic turn that wasn't for earthly minds to understand. She sighed, and continued walking. The sound of her paw pads made her reassured again, and now her posture was brave and strong.

Just when she began to feel tired, due to not usually being this physically active, she flinched as something flew by her face. When she looked closer, she saw that it was just a small insect. She continued walking, and felt concerned by the fact that she had to really strain her eyes to able to see the insect in this darkness.

It was so quiet in the cavern. Efi could only hear the wind breathing through the cave, like an enormous lung. She yawned, and started to become annoyed. There was no end to this place, and she still hadn't found who she was looking for. She suddenly realized that the cavern had gotten thinner, the walls were closer.

The ground broke under her, and she quickly lunged herself backwards. With wide eyes, she saw rocks fall into a void that seconds ago were solid ground. Efi suddenly felt wobbly, and had to lie down for a moment. I must have come to a more unstable section of the cavern. She thought. She wanted to turn around, but her gut instinct told her that this was the right way. She looked closer in front of her. There was still a rocky ledge on the wall, that she could use to get across. This wasn't going to be fun.

Efi put her paw in front of the other, carefully. She was now halfway across the ledge, she knew it because she could see that it was slightly brighter in front of her, it was the color of the ground. It wasn't easy work, walking on a thin ledge with four paws. Every step meant full concentration, and she started to feel dizzy. She was now close, but not close enough. Her head was spinning, and her muscles tense. Her legs were shaking, and she felt like she would fall any moment.

Her breath stopped, she could feel her tail moving in the wrong way, making her lose her balance, and her front paws fumbled in thin air. Instinctively, her hind paws grasped the ledge, her legs tensed, and catapulted her through the air. Like a bullet she shot through the darkness, and she could see steady ground drawing closer. Efi knew this wasn't close enough, she bit desperately with her jaw, and felt it grasp a strong root which stood steady in the ground. She hauled herself upwards, and suddenly she felt herself lying on earth.

Due to the chock, her mind suddenly snapped, and she started laughing her guts out. It then turned into tears, and with an empty mind, she fell asleep.

After a period of time, Efi woke up, feeling tired and slightly dizzy, due to getting on her feet a bit too early. She didn't know how long she had slept, there were no clues of if it was night or day in the pitch black cavern. She shook her fur, and kept walking. This time she tried to go slower, so she could be more prepared for eventual dangers.

Now the path was very narrow, Efi could barely breathe in this area. It was warm and humid, and her paw pads, which were not used to walking so much on rough surfaces, were hurting after the long walk. Her ears pricked automatically when she heard a low growl that rung through the passage, and her whole body stiffened. A light were coming closer, and she heard paw steps against the ground. With quick reflexes, she crouched, looking above her with only one eye. There was a creature, it almost looked reptilian, crouching and slithering. It had multiple, hypnotizing eyes, and a light emanating from some kind of things on its body. She now saw the claws, and crouched as low as she could. This place was already narrow, how could she avoid this creature?

She then heard a voice, a whisper sweeping past her ears. It stopped the creature, it stood still, and she heard what she had to do. Standing straight up, she dashed back to where she had come. The creature saw her, and started to pursue her with all the speed it could manage. Efi hoped that what the voice had said would work, she really hoped.

She used her tough claws to gain a steady grip on the ground. She couldn't afford to slip. The cave walls were now wider, and both her and the pursuer was gaining speed. It suddenly lunged after Efi, and she barely managed to dodge. The beast hit a wall, which made the whole place shake and rumble. Shivers ran down her spine, freezing her for a short while. But when the beast started moving again, she quickly resumed her running.

After running even further, she suddenly had to stop. The path she had taken to get here was sealed. She figured out that it must have been the tremor that made rocks fall and close of the road. Looking frantically around her, while feeling the creatures steps vibrate through the ground, she saw another path leading the right way. She passed through it, and knew that the beast was getting closer every second.
