The harsh howls of the terrifying creatures that surrounded her echoed off the walls of the tunnels, proving that the voices weren't just in her head. It was real. They were real. And here, away from the hustle and bustle of the living world, the dead things were even louder and more intimidating, and very much more active in their attempts to sway her towards whatever evil deeds they wished for her to accomplish.

She had come to find answers. Hadn't she heard that the caverns brought answers? But instead, she found a torment even worse than that which she had suffered before. The voices were so loud that she could barely hear anything else, and she clapped her hands over her ears, screaming. "Go away! Just go away and leave me alone!"

But if anything, the voices only grew louder, threatening to drown out her very sanity.

Deanna had to hurry. The fate of a young, gifted woman depended on her. She had seen the vision, heard the screams of the girl as she finally resorted to her only escape. The sight of blood dripping from the woman's pale wrists spurred Deanna to move faster. She hadn't known the date or place of the vision until scarcely two hours ago, but thank heavens she had been close enough to fly there in time. Now, as long as she could find the woman before it was too late...

But the caverns were like a labyrinth, and while Deanna had a map, there was no map that would lead her to the woman. "Please, give me guidance, and help me to find her." Deanna whispered to some unseen force. And then, as if on cue, she heard the sound of screams echoing throughout the caverns.

Claws barely skimming the floor as she used her wings to give her an extra burst of speed, Deanna prayed that those were not the screams that she had heard in her vision as the woman tore into her flesh. She couldn't be too late...she wasn't sure what it was that this woman was meant to do in her life, but Deanna had been charged with her guidance and protection. She could not fail.

It wouldn't stop. It wouldn't stop! Aurora couldn't take much more of this. Her whole life, ever since she was a young child, she had been haunted by things that no one else could see. Schizophrenic, they called it. Told her she was crazy, and that she'd have to live her life in an institution until they found a balance of medicine that would counteract the hallucinations and paranoia. But the medicines only put her into a stupor or caused her to black out and awaken without recollection of the things they had said that she had done, and so she had stopped taking them. Once she was finally released - it had taken quite a bit of convincing and the lies that she would take every pill just as prescribed - she had left and kept running, so that they would never find her and send her back.

But now she was realizing that even an institution was better than this. Hell, even death was better than this! Death...was that the only way out? Aurora pulled out the small dagger she had brought with her for protection, fingering the tip. As sharp as it was, even the incredibly light amount of pressure that Aurora used was enough to cause the blade to slice a shallow cut into her skin, and a scarlet drop fell to the ground.

One of the creatures, grotesquely fat and oozing from several pustules, threw himself to the ground where the blood had landed. On hands and knees, his snake-like tongue darted out and he lapped up the blood, his eyes lingering on her and a grin on his voice that was full of malice. Aurora shivered and pressed herself against the wall of the cavern, attempting to stay as far away from the...the creatures as possible.

"P-please...stay away..."
