Once home to the Crystal Cities of the Hunter clans, Craiss Caverns is now a hollow empty shell of its former glory due to a strange misfortune in the past. Man-made tunnels now lead to this place, but tales tell of some never returning. (+3 Defense, +2 Offense)

Lloyd.  Anthro form.
Alana.  Anthro form.

"It's been a long time," Alana said, seated across from her husband in the Cavallion-drawn carriage that was bringing them towards their grand estate in Craiss.  There were bags under Alana's eyes, and Lloyd looked thoroughly worn to the bone.

"It has," he said wearily.  "I am looking forward to going to the hot springs for a weekend..."

"I'm ready to just be home," Alana said, biting back a yawn.  "I forgot how long and tasking those tours can be... and to have it finished off with the wedding of one of our children!  That was one heck of a whirlwind, and I never expected Naira and Gloriana to step up like that to help with Cedrela."

"She's been like a daughter to us since the day she came into Aramorel's life," Lloyd said, reaching across the carriage to take Alana's hand.
Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this to see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying
Take a look in the mirror, what do you see
Can you see it clearer, or are you deceived in what you believe?
Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
'cause I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm only human, that's all it takes to put the blame on me

Don't put the blame on me

"She has," Alana said.  "And to think that they're going to be having children of their own soon!  That's almost too much to take in," she said, and she heard the Cavallions drawing the carriage whinny as they came to a stop.  She peered out of the windows to see the estate that they'd left behind while they had performed so many concerts around the entirety of Evelon.

"Remember when you came here all those years ago?" Lloyd asked, and Alana chuckled as she placed her other hand on top of his.

"Of course I do," Alana said.  "I'd come all the way from Nori, and my train had been late--on top of that, I'd forgotten an entire box of things back in Nori, but Mother had it sent over by one of the magic users in the house."

"And we went out to dinner that same night," Lloyd said.

"We did," Lloyd said, a bemused chuckle in the back of his throat.  "We were both a little nervous about the whole thing, as I recall, and your brother was there, too," he said.

"He was," Alana said.  "He... wasn't sure what to think of me being in a relationship with someone who was initially a teacher figure.  I think, though, that after a while, he warmed up to me.  It still was a rather awkward confrontation, nevertheless."

"It's a shame that he just disappeared.  I think he would have rather liked the children.  Can you see him as an uncle?" Lloyd asked.

"Kind of," Alana said, chuckling.  "He adored children, but I don't know that he could have handled me having children.  You know, protective older brother and all that, doesn't want to think that his sister would be having such relations in the first place.  I'm sure my mother has similar sentiments."

"My grandmother would have liked you," Lloyd said, smiling as he offered Alana his hand as he disembarked the carriage.  She followed after him, looking around with bright eyes.  It took her a moment to regain her posture, but once she had, she could only smile from ear to ear.

"We're finally home again," she said softly.

"Yes, we are," Lloyd said, smiling.  "I'm sure that the halls have been silent since we left on our tour, but it's good to finally be back.  I don't want to leave for quite some time, unless it's to explore the caverns some."

"That is definitely something that I'd like to do, as well," Alana said.  "That is, after we've slept for a full night and had a proper breakfast."

"I can't say no to that," Lloyd said, laughing.  "The breakfasts at the hotels were nice, but nothing beats a home-cooked meal."

"That is so true," Alana said.

"And being able to settle down for a nice pot of tea in the library, and practice in the foyer will be a pleasant change," Lloyd added.  "It was hard while we were on the road to get practice sessions in."

"Agreed," Alana said.  "Nalina didn't really care for having to practice with a constant volume constraint of pianissimo."

"Nor did any of the children's instruments, you'll recall," Lloyd said as he opened the door of the estate.  "Aramorel will have his hands full for a while, though.

"I still can't believe that he's going to be a father," Alana said.  "It will be interesting to see how they both handle children."

"Aramorel did well enough with Naira and Gloriana, but they're the same age as him," Alana said, stepping inside the house.  Once the doors closed behind her, she kicked her high-heeled shoes off and slid them off to the side of the door.

"Those wretched things are so uncomfortable," Alana said, wiggling her toes.

"I never understood why women wear those ridiculous heels," Lloyd said, and Alana offered a shrug as they both made their way to the kitchen.  It had been some time since they had last been home, so there was not much in the kitchen--some uncooked noodles, canned soups, and various other non-perishable items sat on the sparsely-stocked pantry shelves.

"...well, I don't think that home-cooked meal is going to be happening tonight.  At least, not with the present lack of ingredients," Alana said, and Lloyd chuckled sheepishly.

"We could go to the restaurant that we went to the first day you were here," Lloyd suggested.

"I actually wouldn't mind that," Alana said, her tired eyes gleaming.  "However, I'm not putting those damned heels back on."

"I wouldn't expect you to," Lloyd said.  "Go on, get your flats and we'll get going.  I'm starving, and looking forward to some good crab cakes, now."

"You and me both, love," Alana said.  "At least this time, Usake won't be there, threatening to flay your skin from your bones for so much as looking at me."

"Oh, I don't know.  Even with nieces and a nephew, and with the nephew having children soon, he's still your brother, and brothers tend to be protective of their sisters.  If I had a sister, I know I'd be protective of her to the degree that Usake is with you," Lloyd said as Alana headed up the stairs.

"Anaik's the same way with Kiana, perhaps because they're twins, too," Alana said over her shoulder as she went to their room to get her flats.  "I'm protective of them, too--so it's not just brothers that can be protective over their sisters.  It's a sibling thing."

Lloyd chuckled as Alana came down the stairs, flats on her feet.  They headed for the door and got back into the carriage, and before too long, they were on their way to the restaurant.
