Possibly the rainiest place on Evelon, Baian stretches for miles along the southern coasts. Thanks to the moist soil rich in minerals, wildlife here have developed unique adaptations. To travel through this thick, muddy area, most either take specially designed boats. (+2 Offense)

Noriala.  Cathar form.
Doc.  Human form.

"Ugh--why did we have to come to this place again, gorgeous?"

The Cathar Jedi and the human doctor made their way through the swamps, with Noriala bending plants out of the way as they progressed.

"Because, Doc, Kira wanted us to look for something.  Why it had to be in this dismal place that reminds me a little too much of Taris, I don't know," Noriala said.  "But, I suppose that there could have been worse places that she could have sent us to."

"Yes, she could have sent us to someplace that's reminiscent of Balmorra, or Quesh," Doc said, checking his pack for his medical supplies.  "Or, heaven forbid, someplace like Hoth."
Maybe I'm foolish, maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this to see what's behind
Got no way to prove it, so maybe I'm lying
Take a look in the mirror, what do you see
Can you see it clearer, or are you deceived in what you believe?
Don't ask my opinion, don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness for making you cry
'cause I'm no prophet or Messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm only human, that's all it takes to put the blame on me

Don't put the blame on me

"Somehow, I don't doubt that Kira would have someplace reminiscent of Hoth in mind, but I think she'd save that mission for getting us separate from each other to talk about the four children we adopted," Doc said.  Noriala shifted her weight slightly as she offered a slight chuckle.

"She had some choice words about that, didn't she?" she said.  "I seem to recall a string of profanities from several Outer Rim systems, once we'd gotten the children to their rooms.  Xyhasa looked positively horrified with Kira, and Jararno, Tiaayla, and Larzav could only stare at her, wondering what she was saying."

"I hope that they never learn what those words were," Doc said, a nervous chuckle behind his voice as he trudged through the swamp.  "But I'm sure I have more harsh words for Kira once we see her again..."

"So long as the children are safely out of earshot when you trade those words with her, Doc, I have no qualms with whatever you decide to say to her," Noriala said, before letting out a cry as she sank a few inches.  Doc whirled around, catching her arm as she reached out for something to grab onto.

"Easy, gorgeous," Doc chided in a joking tone.  "It would seem this swamp has a few sinkholes, and I wouldn't want you falling in."

"Oh, don't worry too much about me," Noriala said as she pulled herself up.  "It just caught me by surprise, is all."

"Hey, just looking out for you," Doc said, pulling her into a hug.  "Don't know what I'd do without you in my life."

"Oh, I'm sure that you'd move onto the next--"

"Hey, now, that guy doesn't exist anymore," Doc said, kissing her cheek.  "We have four children to take care of, now.  I mean, how did that happen?  Four children!" he said, a chuckle in his voice and a smile on his face.

Xyhasa.  Cathar form.

"Mama?" a voice came from the underbrush, and Noriala stopped in her tracks and whirled around, spotting the small Cathar cub.

"Xyhasa, dear, why aren't you back at camp with the others?" Noriala asked, placing a gentle hand on the side of the Cathar's face.  The cub shrugged, looking away slightly.

"Larzav said that he could take care of the others.  They like him more than they like me," she said, lowering her head.  "I think it's because I'm like you, Mama.  I'm not human like them and Dad."

"Well, that sort of attitude just won't do in our children," Doc said, placing a hand on both Noriala and Xyhasa's shoulders.  "We are the kind of family that we are, and there's nothing to be ashamed of in that."

Xyhasa offered a small smile up at Doc before she looked away slightly again.  It was several long minutes before she said anything, and when she did, she looked at Noriala.

"Mama, those things are happening again," she said plainly, and Doc looked at Noriala with a questioning look in his eyes.

"What things are happening again?  Is it something that--?" he began, but Noriala held up a hand.

"Don't worry, Doc," she said.  "Xyhasa, what happened this time?" she asked.

"I moved rocks around without meaning to," Xyhasa said, and Noriala nodded slowly as she looked to Doc.  She could visibly see the color drain from his face, but he remained silent as Noriala cleared her throat.

"Did the others see you do it?" Noriala asked softly.  Xyhasa's ears flicked as she looked down, before looking back up at Noriala and Doc.

"Tiaayla... she was doing it, too," she said.  "We arranged them in a ring for the fire back at the camp.  I know we shouldn't have, but--"

"It's okay, Xyhasa," Noriala said, holding the Cathar cub close.  "You just can't do it around other people.  You never know who will keep it a secret, and who would go to the Empire and say that there were rouge Jedi that survived Order 66."

"What's Order 66?" Xyhasa asked, and Doc frowned as he knelt down.

"Order 66 was a terrible thing that happened just before you were born," he said.  "A lot of Jedi--and even just Force-sensitive people--were killed on the orders of the Emperor, to limit any opposition from them on his ascension to power.  He claimed that the Jedi tried to kill him."

"But they didn't try to kill him, right?" Xyhasa asked.  "Jedi didn't just kill people unless they had reasons to.  They're not Mandalorians, killing for hire."

"No, we're not Mandalorians, although if you forge a friendship with one, they will be as loyal to you as they are to their clan.  At least, that's what Cat'ra tells me," Noriala said, causing both Doc and Xyhasa to tilt their heads in curiosity.

"You have a Mandalorian contact?" Doc asked.

"I wouldn't call her a contact so much as an old friend," Noriala said.  "We were born in the same tribe.  They thought she was Force-sensitive at first, but then they found out it was me and not her.  While not the most glamorous of professions, she took to bounty hunting like a womp rat to the sand dunes of Tatooine," she said.

"So you were friends before she became a Mando?" Doc asked.  "That has to be useful in certain situations."

"Why do you think we haven't had any other bounty hunters on our tail?" Noriala asked.  "She's 'laid claim' to us, and she won't let anyone else shoulder in on her bounties--even if she comes up dry over and over again."
