The Demon's Daughter [P]

Postby Kallile » 12/27/2009 8:52 PM

It had been years now, though it seemed to many that only minutes had ticked by in the fickle hourglass of life.

Caine had left--prompted by the appearance of a strange, otherworldly being. He was a God of Purgatory--a shepard of souls to the place of their judgment. The only thing that could strike anything akin to fear in the heart of one of the worlds oldest living beings.

He had come for what was believed to be the last of her kind--Jury, a Firestarter cursed with powers by False Gods now fallen back to their demonic states. They fed off her kind and in their hay-day had began shaping the world to their liking by using the Firestarters as living sacrifices.

There was only one problem.

On the eve of her death Jury was Turned by the Vampyre Caine. Her curse to the False Gods was broken, but a new one was set upon her.

Too late, unfortunately, to stop the God of Purgatory from coming to claim her. At what should have been the binding touch to bring both into the Netherworld, Judgment was stripped of his power to traverse the world of living and dead--at least, until he could return with the proper soul he had been sent to retrieve.

That had been years ago, when Judgment had chased away Caine--Jury's blood bond and father of her new litter. Now two of those pups remained, and Judgment could already see the growing darkness in the daughter's body.

The False Gods would not be bested yet.

"I'm absolutely sure it's this way."

"What makes you so sure?"

"Are you a living compass? Because so far, all I've seen are trees that looks amazingly identical..."

"Neither of you are helping."

Runako (Rune), Verdict (V), Punishment (Pun)

The bright orange pelt of the male Lucain currently at the head of the group was quickly becoming marred with grime and muck, to which he was doing his absolute best to ignore. history, he was busy coaching himself inwardly, was all about going the distance to uncover the truth. He would just have to consider the past few hours wandering helplessly through Tengel as a slight detour.

The two headed serpet curled around his neck were busy looking disapprovingly at him. Typically they wouldn't venture far from Judgment, but there were two things keeping them with their current mode of transport.

Firstly--his easy acceptence of such otherworldly beings fascinated Verdict--the angelic, white head of the serpent. Secondly--if he messed up or went against his word to try and aid Judgment in his quest for Earth-Bound knowledge, Punishment had the go-ahead to offer him a lethal dose bite. With both personalities contented, their oddly bright locomotion didn't seem all that terrible.

Except for his terrible sense of direction.

"Why not give up the lead while you're ahead?" The angelic serpentine head offered, much to the chagrin of the rather demonic red-head. "Oh, we're very much past the point of 'being ahead'."

Runako sighed, listening to the growing murmur of voices behind him. "They're catching up anyway, settle down. Besides--if we've just been going in circles then how, tell me, can we be lost?"

None of this seemed like it was going to work. Though her lust for blood was waning and she was loosing connection (and strength) with her vampire side daily, Jury knew the end result. If they found a cure for her need for blood--she would still be dead. Vampirism was the only way she was still alive. She sighed, deep scorch marks still around her neck and ankle as she walked. It seemed almost ethereal now--a lasting symbol that she was marked and death was literally waiting on her to stop fighting the laws of nature and die.

It was also, oddly enough, her constant companion. The God of Purgatory walked beside her, his once illustrious aura now long forgotten. It had been a long time since he'd walked in his own realm, and the signs of frustration were beginning to show on his face.

ImageImage
Jury, Judgment

The split pelt of the lucain-form God shown brightly--the grime and muck not having any effect as it was on Runako. His calm eyes stayed focused straight ahead and the only sound coming from him was the soft "clink""clink" of his bondage as he walked and the ruffle of feathers when branches would scrape across his wing. He always seemed so calm and collected day in and day out that Jury wondered if he even had emotions in him.

"Our navigation is slowing." She mused, looking pointedly to Runako ahead of them. The Purgatory Lord only made a small sound in accompaniment to a nod. Jury sighed in frustration, casting an angry glance away.

"The library is ancient--as old as time itself. It cannot be found--it must choose to find you."

The words made the female jump a little and cast a wary glance up at Judgment. "Buildings don't find you."

Cold, unfeeling eyes ghosted down to meet hers and she felt ice prickling up in her very veins. "Who is to assume something this ancient with such vast knowledge is a building?"

They were bringing up the rear--as usual. Jury still refused to fully accept them as her children, though she had never let them go without anything save for maybe some compassion. Ajax walked slightly ahead of his sister--his cocoa and cornflower yellow pelt blending in with the surroundings. Winter was beginning to touch every part of Evelon save for this rain-forest--which almost seemed bewitched by how warm and humid it remained. Amaranthine eyes scanning carefully ahead, they would often rest angrily on Runako in the lead of the group.

To say Ajax hated Runako would be unfair, but there was a great dislike the half-vampire harbored towards the other male--the orange brute's liking towards his sister. He heard her wheeze slightly behind him and instantly spun to be at her side and steady her. It had only been a day since her last possession by some dark force--one Jury and Judgment both seemed to know but where unwilling to share. Her movements were zombie-like, and words of nonsense slipped from her mouth periodically.  Her once blue eyed were a clouded grey--as they after were after such moments where her body was no longer her own.

"How are you feeling?" Ajax rasped out, his rarely used voice tasting strange as it passed over his tongue. Cold, dead looking eyes slid lucidly up to meet his amaranthine ones.

"Feelings bring about only pain, pain brings about desires, desires lead to obsessions. And in the end, obsessions lead to death and eternal darkness..." She hissed in a whispering voice, to which Ajax only sighed. She never made sense--sometimes she spoke in prophecies and others, like now, she only rattled on like a madwoman.

ImageImage
Jyn, Ajax

Her eyes flickered closed and Jyn slipped into a state akin to sleepwalking, leaning heavily on her brother to keep her feet feebly moving. Ajax shouldered her with practiced ease of what had become his burden in life. His mother may have forsaken her to whatever darkness gripped her--even the strange Purgatory Lord seemed to disregard her, but Ajax was her blood. When others would fail jyn time and again, he would not.

Or he would die trying.

Re: The Demon's Daughter [P]

Days were a very fleeting and worthless measure of time to a demon. Eons went by without much notice to them, each year a mere moment in their eternal lives in the damned realm. Thus her tracking over the past few days was little more than a few seconds passed by in the eyes of Re-l.

Image
Re-l

Her form was of her own choosing--as was the right of every demon once they were condemned to serve a higher power of darkness. Her chosen was that of a Khimera--once Pristine white metal plating stained with blood and the blood of the innocent she had slain flowing through the tubular structures of her selected body. It was a thrill, almost a drug-induced high to have such pained last memories flowing through one's very veins. Which is, perhaps, why she was here.

Cold grey eyes were trained to the one called Jyn as the demonic cat moved silently through the forest. Though reality was not where she was dwelling. To the group ahead of her--the forest was still and abandoned. Lush, green, moist. Very much, for lacking of better terms, alive.

However to Re-l, she viewed something very different. She walked in the astral plain between the world of Death and Life--a path Judgment knew very well but was forced now not to access. Everything around her was a perfect replication on the real world in which her prey walked--down to the leaves gently falling as birds took flight. But all were black and oily in shape and composition--clinging to her deeply plum colored pelt with hateful ferocity. Everything in this realm was hateful towards the demons--for she was no longer pure demon nor anything else.

She had tasted the power of the Gods once--years ago when Jury was not yet even thought of. She and two of her fellow demons had done the unthinkable: they had risen to a God-like state, gathered a following, granted powers and began to shape the world as they saw fit.

But something happened, something on earth lost in history to even the False Gods themselves. The had fought to keep their following--turning their gifts into curses that would slowly kill the hosts but only after disposing of certain key threats to the False Gods existence.

When she had last possessed Jyn it became apparent that this rag-tag group was going to find a way to eliminate her--to finish the job of the ancient civilizations and send she and her brothers back into the Darkness.

A cruel smirk crossed her muzzle, bloody teeth splayed.

She would see about that...

Runako watched behind him to the scene unfolding with Ajax and Jyn with a heavy sigh resting in his throat--threatening to escape.

He had watched Jyn for some time--ever since he'd first learned of the Firestarters and tracked Jury down. He was little more than a pup himself at that time; his own wingblades hadn't even fully hardened yet. Jyn was a newborn with freshly opened eyes and he could still remember the way she had watched him with those innocent cerulean blue eyes as they had all but grown up together.

She had always made him feel strange--butterflies in the stomach, despite how clique it sounded. As she had grown up and become a gorgeous young adult, Runako couldn't deny that he'd like to get closer to her and really learn more about her. He wasn't just saying that because she was seemingly easily possessed by darkness, either. No, while that was fascinating and work that could rocket his career as a historian...it wasn't what he wanted.

He became slowly aware of two things: the first that Ajax's cold, angry amaranthine gaze was fixed dangerously on him and the second that there was twin hissing laughter in his ears.

"Subtly isn't your strong suit."

"Or pathfinding."

"Or decisiveness."

"Or..."

"Alright! I get it! I'm not exactly a practiced historian. Or...conversationalist when it comes to females." The hissing laughter continued and he found the serpents curls around his neck in a highly symbolic manner--with Verdict on his right shoulder and Punishment on his left. True consciences.

"What can the brother really do to you? Other than, I suppose, kill you. Isn't the girl worth it?" Pun whispered into his ear, forked tongue tickling the fine hair surrounding it. Runako shook his head a little.

"No, you're doing the right thing. Let her be--she has bigger things to worry about."

"Like being condemned to an early death." Punishment's fangly grin was unnerving and Runako's reaction scared even the Lucain himself. He stopped suddenly, tossing his head violently and sending the conjoined creature sprawling unceremoniously onto the ground.

"Both of you, stop it." He growled, ignoring the fact his eyes held nothing but fear and worry in them.

The sight of their guide stopping did not phase Judgment; however, the direction Runako's eyes travelled did happen to bother Jury. Lips raised over twin fangs--her original set and her new, long and fine tipped vampiric ones Caine had so graciously gifted her with. She did not have to gaze over her shoulder to know who his eyes were fixed on. Jyn.

She made no move to remedy the situation, though she felt Judgment's eyes slide over to her--a usual lack of outright concern keeping it from being anything more than a stare.

"Brash little fool. He has no idea what he's letting his heart get wrapped up in." She growled, watching the conjoined snake be slung to the ground, Judgment only flipped an ear to the event--V and Pun could take care of themselves well-enough. They were born an otherworldly being--physical pain did little to hinder them.

"He is a mortal--they are easily blinded by their own longing to feel connected to another." The Purgatory God turned and kept walking, moving past Runako without a glance; nor did he glance at the serpents that watch him pass. "You are leading with your eyes, Historian."

Jury hung back, lashing her tail angrily at her sides and even snapping lightly at Runako as she moved slowly past him. Judgment watched over the group slowly pooling together more like an idolized statue than a living being. He blinked seldom, and with a never-changing expression it was difficult to tell if he truly was even mentally among them. "To find the Library you must find the Librarian. And to do that, he must in turn wish to find you."

The Gods' eyes moved slowly to fixate on Jyn, as did all eyes in turn.

Amaranthine eyes carefully wept over those he was traveling with before a sort of realization dawned on Ajax. Stepping forward to inadvertently make Jyn run into him in a dazed confusion, he raised his lips to flash his elongated fangs to the group. Jyn peers over her brother's higher back, blinking groggily as her eyes slid in and out of focus as she tried to focus on several faces at once.

"You won't touch her--otherworldly monster." Ajax snarled pointedly at Judgment, hackles raising slowly as his fury at the very idea rippled through his muscles and made his entire form shiver at the ready to attack. "You have done nothing to help her, and I would drain her myself before I'd allow you to call one of those demons into her."

Jyn grinned emotionlessly from over his back, her eyes rolling back into her head slightly as a sudden weakness caused her to sink to her haunches and lean heavily on her brother. She rose back her lips in a disturbingly morbid snarling-smile and let out an unearthly cackle. "They're always here, just call their names. They're not picky! Bid them to come and finish this..."

Spinning slightly, Ajax wrapped his strong neck around his sister and curled himself around her as if to form a shield from the monsters in her mind. "No one is doing that." he stated firmly to her although his eyes rested only on Judgment. "We're going to finish them first. You're staying here with us."

Re-l took pause as the group did; sitting among them in her own astral plane as the oily black ooze of her current dwelling slowly crept up her legs and threatened to swallow her whole. With a swift slice of her tails she severed the tarry bonds that had tried to contain her and listened idly.

"Interesting..." She purred, a small smirk falling across her muzzle. So...they wanted to call one of them into Jyn, did they? The knowledge they sought had to be a powerful one if they needed demonic possession to attain it.

An ear flipped back behind her, but she did not move at the approach of her two brethren.

ImageImage
Ravana------------------------------Talbot

"Missed much lately?" Came a deep, sultry voice from the brilliantly colored Frightmare--the chosen form of the demon Ravana. His brilliant blue body burned--feeding the flames on his back and at his ankles until it flew away as crisp ash into the dead air of the demonic plane. Beside him, a fin alight with brilliant green flames draped casually over the Frightmare's back, floated Talbot.

The Forest Fire Demon, once known for his adoration of trickery and jokes, had played perhaps the most sighed at joke when he had chosen his form. A fish. A Witchlight Werebetta, to be precise. Something that both angered and intrigued Ravana--the demon over witchlight and other such crafts. Their flames intertwined from time to time to create a harsh black fire that singed both of them. Neither, however, seemed pained by the act.

"We've heard whispers flowing through the realm--was your last possession successful?"

Re-l watched the two male demons casually before nodding her head towards the group that could be heard as if listening to them through a wall of water.

"Listen for yourselves, my brothers. I think you'll find the current turn of events most interesting..."
