"Rabbit." He sid, as a white shape darted out of the brush. He sniffed the air. "On guard!" He said to the others through mind link. The 'rabbit' turned, rushing strait at them. Kyune turned, and snatched at it. Not at the rabbit itself, but at a tag with Japanese symbols on it. He ripped it off and threw it in the air, where it exploded in a flash of brilliant fire. The rabbit was also terrified. Amazingly even though the fire completely engulfed some of the trees, none caught ablaze. "Illusion!" Kyune growled, and then twenty shurikens flew through the blaze. He clapped his hands together, and when he pulled apart again, a string of light connected them. He pulled them completely apart, and they separated, the strings growing and thickening, crackling and shifting, whips of true lightning. None of his forms were completely defenseless. This was not a power that he used often.
He leaped into the air, spinning as the whips flew through the air Both wrapped around a shuriken, and he flung them into the blaze. He jerked his hands, and the whips flowed along, picking up speed as the wave traveled along the link. It reached the end, and there was a devastating snap, which sent out a cone of sound. All of the shurikens missed the group, completely encircling them. He could he screams, and then saw two bodies drop from the trees. All of the shurikens exploded, sending a huge cloud of smoke up around them, blinding them. This battle was making a turn for the worse.
"These aren't the Oni's minions. These are a splinter group. They don't want to capture us. They want us dead!" Kyune growled. He sent another, much larger wave along the rips. This time it sent out a wave of sound, travling forwarrd through the illusions. The fire broke up, and the smoke was pushed out of the way. It hit the splinter group, sending many flying. He could see now how many there were.
Hundreds. Hundreds of bandits, versus this group of four. They didn't stand a chance. He could see among them three Oni's. Any one of them would have been a match for Kyune, but three and three hundred minions were too much. No doubt they all had their minds controlled by the Oni's. Oni minds were not like any others, and were not susceptible to mind reading, or Arya's ability to kill with thought. Veloc's main weapon was anger, making the enemy so angry that they made mistakes, and that wouldn't work here.
"The good news is that the Oni King doesn't know where we ar. This group broke off from him ages ago. I don't know why the King lets them live. The bad news is that we stand no chance, since Arya can't do anything to their minds. Oni minds aren't affected by anyone except an Oni Master, of which all of these are. The only thing that affects the mind of an Oni Master is an Oni King, of which there is only one." He explained. "There is only one option, and that is a retreat!"
And with that, he grabbed Arya's and Veloc's hands, and then Veloc grabbed icewing. "Ok, here we go. You may feel a little nausea for your first time." He said, and then Veloc muttered something. Suddenly, they were in a tube a flashing colors, traveling through faster than possible. The pressure was immense, and they spun through without gravity. Contradictions like this made it easy for a any normal being to lose control of his or her gag reflex, which in this ealm would turn around and hit them in their face. Not pretty.
They were dropped off in the same place that they were before, but there were no bandits. The area was empty. Only the ruptured ground and damaged trees were evidence of the fight before. Veloc lye on his hands and knees, gasping for breath.
"We have traveled two hours into the future." Kyune said, since Velo had a hard time talking after doing this. "The bandits think we died when they threw eighty bombs two seconds after we left." He continued, and that explained all of the ripped up trees, and the crater that they were standing in. "So they left. Veloc kept track of this while we were in the vortex, and put us back the second the last searchman confirmed our deaths. It may have seemed like two seconds for us, but for them it was over two hours. This power leaves Veloc completely drained of energy, and his recent sickness doesn't help. It would be best to rest for a while, but not for long. They will still have scouts around the forest."
