Nezahualcoyotl, or Hual for short was at the end of his thether. The last attack on the ruins had been to much to bear. He doubted he could cope with that again.

Hual slid to the ground. The barely healed scar visible on his bare chest. For a moment he closed his eyes, from here it was easy to pretend everything was okay.

It was a stange feeling knowing your destiny was set. Most of it anyway. Hual wondered if his elder could have forseen his death.

Hual shook the thought from his mind. He shouldn't dwell on such dimal subjects. He really shouldn't.

There were too many players. He was only a young Suncheeka. Yet he was expected to look after something too powerful for it's own good.

Too powerful for him, by far. Why him? Hual wondered. It just didn't seem quite fair.

He bit his lip. He mentally appologised to one of his many gods. His destiny was chosen, he shouldn't complain about it.

For the first time in many months Hual looked around nervously. It was getting to the point where he was too nervous to do the daily rituals. Perhaps he was devolping paranioa.

Hual sighed as he slipped through the temple enterance. He couldnt be anything but amazed by the sight of it. He'd always felt small walking into the forgotten Nahutal temple. But today he felt tiny.

A vibrant mosiac spilled across the floor. Blues, greens, simmering whites. Statue after statue the place was simply amazing.

He knew the ritual of by heart now. He didn't even wince as he took out a small bone dagger and  let a few drops of his blood fall into the stone bowl. Sighing to himself he began the prayers.

He finished quickly. The sight of his own blood no longer bothering him. With yet another sigh he blew the insense out.

Shalamar, they were running out of Shalamar. The most important insense beside Mur and they were running out of it. Bother.
