Return to Tengel Rainforest

Postby Roxianna » 12/05/2007 6:12 PM

Jessica noticed Kou eyeing the bait, and knew he was think of a Moonling.  She laughed quietly and said, in a whispering tone, "Don't expect it to come within one night.  It might take several days before we even catch a glimpes of one."  Even thogh Jess hated the words coming out of her mouth, she knew they were true.  She'd have to wait to catch her creature.  That didn't mean she wouldn't, it just ment it was going to take a while.
Its 2:45, the baby takes his first breath
The mother never knew he only had a few left.
And the father gets a call in the middle of the night.
His breathe gets short and his chest gets tight.

But he’s sixteen and he’s driving too fast
Takes a turn to the left, it would be his last.
Nobody knows what happens if he turns to the right
Nobody in the car would have died that night.

But he’s thirty-two and invincible
The cancer that he had, it was visceral.
He never saw it coming, though he had his whole life.
Sick in the morning and he died in the night.

"I know. They rarely come." Kou told her, "I was just thinking that we should probably expect more than one, because they are known to attack in groups."
He was slightly hoping this was one of the many times that they did, though with a species that hidden, you would never know.
You may call, you may call
But the little black cats won't hear you.
The little black cats are maddened
By the bright green light of the moon;
They are whirling and running and hiding,
They are wild who were once so confiding,
They are crazed when the moon is riding
You will not catch the kittens soon.
They care not for saucers of milk,
They think not of pillows of silk;
Your softest, crooningest call
Is less than the buzzing of flies.
They are seeing more than you see,
They are hearing more than you hear,
And out of the darkness they peer.
With a goblin light in their eyes!

Jessica nodded, but she took Kou's coment the oppisite way that he had.  If more thm one came, she'd likely be eaten.  Gulp.  That wasn't a happy thought at all.  Jessica looked down at the little bird at her feet.  Just the thought of her killing the thing made her sick, but she knew she'd do it again.  She wanted tha tMoonling more than it wanted her, for sure.  Jessica has pig-headed to a degree of that she always got what she wanted.  "I just hope they aren't too hungry." she murmered quietly.

"Ah, don't worry." He told her. He knew what she was afried of. She was, after all, a kuhna. "With good bait, I bet we could gain there trust before the attack too bad."
If not, Kou would always try to fight them. After all, it would be bad on his part, too, if they attacked. With him right there, he doubted they would only go for the kuhna.

"What do you mean, brfore the attack gets too bad?"  Jessica's eyes got round, and for the first time ever, she considered not going after the Moonling.  Taking a deep breathe, she shook her head and calmed herself down.  No, it would be okay.  She glanced out at the bird, and, seeing that it was still there, settled herself back down.  It would all be okay.  It had to be okay.  Why wouldn't it be?

"Well, they are bound to attack, We'll just gain their trust before anyone gets hurt." Kou told her. Could they attack with out anyone getting hurt. Would it be like a charge that didn't strike who it was aiming. Was that still an attack? Kou shook the blabbering thoughts out of his head. He knew what he was talking about. The kuhna had no need to fear.

"Hmm..."  Jessica said in reply.  She only hoped theat the one bird would be enough to do it.  "Should I get another bird?" she asked quietly.  Rain was angain startign to come down in a drizzle, and Jessica was't the sort who liked to get her fur wet.  hte rain would only get stronger, so Jessica considered gettign the bird now before the water started ot really pour.  Water was for fish and for otters, not for Kuhnas such as herself.  If it rained, she'd refuse to leave.

"I'll get the bird." Kou told her. He thought she seemed a little uncomfortable. The rain was drenching his fur, and he shook it off when ever he felt like too much was clinging to him. "The birds should be easier to catch right now, staying in the shelter of the trees." He mumbled to himself, running off to see what he could find.

Jessica sighed when Kou left.  She wasn't a shy person, quite the oppisite actually, but she hated the awkward moments where no one knew what to talk about.  The rain was still coming down, just as hard, and Jessica was glad that, for the most part, the canopy of leaves above her protected her from the water.  She almost felt bad for Kou.  Almost.  But not enough to make her take his place among the down pour.  Jessica looked out at the bird, curious to see if a Moonling was there yet, even though she knew better.  The Moonling wouldn't coem for a while, if it came at all.  She should have known better than to get her hopes up.  She sighed again, but this time it was from lack of conversation.  How very like her that was. *

Kou returned not long after he left with a few birds, the same kind as the ones Jessica had caught earlier. He put a few by the one that was out there for bait, and put the rest with the hidden one. Shaking water off his fur, he sat down to watch the bait. "They'll be more likely to notice that than one bird. I just hope they come around soon. Not likely, but I've heard something about them guarding a library of some sort..."

Jessica looked at Kou in shock.  "If they're at a library, we should be there, not here!"  Feloling as if she was about to scream over her waste of tiem, Jessica puonced out from behind their hinding spot, easily landing on the birds.  She took on and tossed it into the forest.  It made her feel better and gave her an oppertunity to think clearly once again.  Jessica turned to Kou.  "Um...do you know where, by chance, this library is?"  Jessica hated it say it, but she knew she'd be utterly lost if they went any deeper into the forest on her own.

((sorry It took so long to post))
"If I knew where it was I would have led you there in the first place." Kou told her. He stood up, and sniffed the air. "We might as well look for it, though I don't see why your in such a rush to get there. I've heard that they'll travel a bit aways from it to hunt." He started padding in a direction he though it would be, after picking up some of the birds.

((No problem.  ^^))

Jessica grumbled a bit before turning towards Kou and following.  She took another deep breath, trying to force herself to calm down.  She wasn't the type of girl to over react too often, but...she wanted the Moonling, and would be emenseless furious if anyone kept her away form it.  She wasn't as mad as she would have been if Kou had known where the library was, but the fact that he had kept her away from it for this long bothered her.

Jessica sighed.  It was still only the first night of their search.  How was she expected to keep this up for this long?  Shaking her head, Jessica sighed again, pounched up on a rather large rock, and used it to reach yet another, higher stone.  Taking a flying leap, Jess landed on a different ledge and climbed up the side.  Soon she was above the tree line, but it didn't help.  The forest was thick, and the ruins of whatever library there was there was out of sight.   Leaping down, she said to Kou, "Sorry, but I can't see where the library is.  We'll just have to keep searching by foot."

Kou nodded. He was leading them back the way they had came. There were pleanty of ruins around there, so the library had to be close to there. Though he hadn't seen many large buildings... "It can't be too far..." He mumbled, half to himself.

Jessica nodded.  How hard could a stupid library be to find anyways?  It was just a giant forest they had to search in.  No biggie.  Sighing at her own stupid sence of logic, Jessica once again hopped up to the top of a rock, where she promple sliped adn fell carelessly painfully to the ground.  Streching her back, the Kuhna licked her paw, and walked deeper into the forest again, pretending as if the fall had never happened.
