"Yes, I will!" Ashi said, tears coming to her eyes.  "Nayru taught me a charm that... why don't I just prove it to you?  I will forget!" She said, and then, she murmured the charm in a low voice.  Once she finished it, a faint light began to pulse from her body as a feminie voice said, "If any of us come to your home, give us our same name.  You'll remember our names, right?" At this, Ashi let out a shriek.  The next voice, masculine, sent chills down her spine.  "I'll come back, Ashi, but I don't know what form I'll take." The light pulsed and became brighter, drawing another shriek from her.  The light pulsed once each second, and every fifteen pulses, she would shriek in pain again until two minutes had passed, and she lay limp on the ground, her body seeming to be devoid of life.

"Ashi? Ashi, are you alright?" asked Kendoras frantically, running over to the Trikuhna and trying to shake her awake. "Ashi, wake up!" he said, scared for the other Trikuhna. What had she done? What was wrong with her now? What spell was that?

Ashi lay perfectly still, her chest beginning to rise and fall very faintly as she slowly began to recover.  "I... I'm all right... I think..." She said, drawing herself up.  Rubbing her head, and then her scar, she blinked.  "Wait... I remember Ryen and Tali?±a, Sethor and Yojimbo... and you... but no one else..." She said, shaking her head as though to rid it of a fog.  "That spell... it was meant to be used to help me forget what happened to me before.  Nayru said I must only use it when I was ready to forget... and I was.  I was ready to move on." She said, "but I did not know how..."

"..." Kendoras sighed. "No, you don't remember me. You've never known me, so you can't. Whoever I might have been in a previous life, it's not me now! Can't you realize that? It's not just that I'm not a warrior anymore, I'm not that Kendoras, even if I share his spirit or soul or whatever. You CAN'T remember me, because you've only just met me."

"I meant I remember you from just now.  I don't remember anything from before I came to live with Fire." Ashi said, trying to recall the war camp and finding she couldn't.  "Let's jsut start over from the beginning: how did you know my name was Ashilata?" She asked, curious to know, even if he found he did not know.

"...oh." said Kendoras, feeling slightly derailed. "Um, I'm not quite sure why I know your name. I've just always known it. I don't know why, really. Apparently something about a past life..." he mumbled, looking away from her and fidgeting slightly.

"...just forget anything I ever said about past lives, all right?" Ashi said, sighing.  "Just... forget I ever said anything about that.  All that matters now is that... well, that you at last know the Kuhna that goes with the name you've known for whatever reasons." She said, seeing the dog tags and throwing them as far away as she could.  "The life I came from is far behind me now." She said, with a tone of finality in her voice.

"Um...yeah." said Kendoras. "W-well it was nice meeting you..." he said evasively, taking a step back towards the thick of the rainforest. He never should hav com in the first place, but noooo, he had to know why he knew Ashilata's name, didn't he?

"Wait..." Ashi said, her head lowered.  "Do... do you know Yojimbo?  He said he knew you... That was before I left the war." She said, laying down on the floor.  She just wanted to know why she had felt so called to him in the first place.  "Please, Kendoras... Don't leave me here.  Not when I am due to bear kits and in a rainforest that I know not." She said.

Kendoras sighed. "Yes, I know Yojimbo... not very well, but I know him..." as to her last comment... "Where do you want me to take you, then?" he asked, sighing again. "I suppose I can at least help you get out of this rainforest, right?"

"Yes... at least out of here." She said, trying to deny the voice in her heart telling her that, even if this wasn't the same Kendoras, she loved him all the same.  "Please..." She murmured, groaning.  She didn't want him to leave; but she didn't realize she was scaring him either.

Kendoras bent down to take Ashilata's hand, helping her to her feet. Just take her to her pen or something, then he could get away from this scary woman, and never worry about crazy wars or past lives or anything like that. He could just go back to his life and never think about Ashi ever again.

Ashi's ears hung low as Kendoras took her hand, a flush coming under her black fur as she let her mismatched eyes stay closed.  She sighed, knowing that this Kendoras was not the one she knew.  Oh, if only I had pretended never to have known him... Now I really don't and it confuses me... she thought, her eyes staying closed so as to keep the tears there.

Kendoras kept hold of Ashi's hand as he turned to start out of Tengel, helping Ashi follow him. Maybe he'd find her again later, when he could deal with the whole idea. But for now, he couldn't take this all in.

Ashi watched as Kendoras left, cursing herself silently in her mind.  She sighed as she slowly walked off in another direction; maybe to Baian or to Nabias, but she wasn't going to go home.  She couldn't bear to look her little daughter in the eyes and tell her that she loved someone besides her real father.
