[Toon-Souseiseki]

Walking on their own legs, two unusual Paragons were wandering around the Tengel Forest.  "San-san, wait for me!" said a sparkdrake girl who was trying her best to follow as her wings folded down and trying her best not to burn anything with her blue flame tail.  "You know you're lucky we're alone Persephone.  I hate that nickname you gave me," said the Amiba boy.  "Awe scome on Saneol, you know you love my nickname for you," the Sparkdrake replied with a smile.  Saneol snirked a bit.  Okay okay, the nickname is kind of cute, he thought.  

"So where are we San-san?" Persephone said looking around.  "Tengel Forest Persephone.  Remember we're trying to learn the entire lands of Evelon together remember?" Saneol responded.  He then stopped after hearing a twig snap and he raised one Crystal wing to make Persephone halt.  "W-what is it San-san?" Persephon whispered.  Saneol didn'e respond and looked around a bit, trying to hear any other suspicious sounds.

He had been walking around, merely observing the territory around him.  He had been brought into this Clan place when he was just barely grown, so he had known next to no other life.  He had to admit, the leaders were fairly nice, but the lead sentinel lady--Aerarnis, her name was--was just plain scary.  The entire Clan was a bunch of oddballs, he felt; from young-bloods like himself to Paragon--Paragon that shared his species--that claimed to hail from the original Clan before it was wiped out.

You're not seriously worried about this, are you, Zaeyin? he asked himself.  They still expect you to find a position--

Here, a twig snapped under his foot.  He cursed quietly, but continued to move forward.  After a momen, the Primal had caught the scent of a Paragon--no, two Paragon--on the wind.  It was not this that bothered him, though--

It was the fact that the scent, while foreign, was familiar.

"Who is there?" he asked.

Persephone flinched and took a few steps back and trembled.  "I'm scared San-san," she whispered through gritted teeth.  Saneol sniffed the air and could recognize the scent.  That... That smell.  It's ours but how? he thought.  "State your name," Saneol said outloud and got ready to fight the unknown creature who smelled like him and his sister.  Persephone then sniffed and realized, "Brother no don't attack."  But by the time she spoken out, Saneol used his tail to attack.

Ah, so there are others out here... but why is their scent so familiar? he thought to himself, but there was little time for thoughts of that nature.  He puffed out his chest and his wings, trying to make himself seem as large as he possibly could as he walked towards the scent, especially after one voice--the masculine voice--demanded that he state his name, followed by a feminine voice asking him not to attack...

...and a Razor Tail came crashing through the foliage, barely missing Zaeyin's arm.

"I am Zaeyin," he said, his voice booming as he readied his own tail to attack.  "State your business in the Clan's territory," he added, his wings still extended to their full extent.

Persephone crawled over and stood right in between the two boys.  "I am Persephone and this is Saneol.  We were just wandering about and did not know of the teritory," she said, standing up proudly and with elegance.  Saneol's eyes went wide as he saw his own sister stand up against someone uknown to both of them.  

"Persephone, your kindness and stupidity usually ends up ME IN DAMN SCARS!!!" Saneol said and growled at Persephone.  She gasped and slowly backed away and stood back right behind her brother.  Saneol looked at Zaeyin and stood striaght to make himself look bigger as well.

"Aerarnis is going to have my hide... but we need to actually make distinctive borders for our land..." Zaeyin said, but after a moment, he shook his head.

"Never mind that now, though.  Right now, you may enlighten me as to why we have a similar scent!" he said.  "Something about you two is familiar, like you are supposed to be my clutch-mates, but I was found out here with none..." he said.

Even as he said this, he could not help but fight back an image in his mind: an image of a black male hatchlings and a white female hatchling, both with mostly white wings, but completely orphaned...

"...it can't be..." he said quietly.

"Shut up with the mumbling if you want to fight, then let's fight," Saneol said and snarled.  Persephone blinked and looked at Zaeyin's horns and wings.  She blinked for a bit and slowly then closed her red eyes and remembered an image.  

A black male hatchling and a white male hatchling with that same dark graident color.  Her eyes opened wide and she climbed onto Saneol's back and put her front claws on his head and looked into Zaeyin's eyes.  


"I... I remember you," she said and Saneol looked up at his sister confused.  "Okay what the hell are you blabbering about now?" he said.  She looked down at Saneol, "San-san, this is our long lost brother from our own litter!"

"So, it is you... when I caught your scent on the air, I had a feeling, but... I wanted to be certain, since we were separated for what we though was for good," Zaeyin said, allowing his wings to fold back slightly.  "I was found by a rather snappish VoidBri--"

"ZAEYIN!"



Zaeyin's wings lowered even more as he heard the voice of a female behind him; in fact, the very female he was about to describe to his siblings.  To say that she was angry was an understatement.

"Zaeyin, what are you doing out here, and... oh, so HELP me if you've been doing the duties assigned to the sentinels alone, I will tan your scales--!" she said, stopping when she noticed the male and female.  Her entire body lowered, as though to attack, and Zaeyin cleared his throat.

"Er... Aerarnis, this is my sister, Persephone, and my brother, Saneol.  Saneol, Persephone... this is the Clan's lead sentinel, Aerarnis," he said.  Mentally, he added notes about how she was a pain in the rear, how she didn't like intruders of any sort, and... "Anyone who comes into the Clan's territory is escorted--usually personally by her--to the leaders of the Clan," Zaeyin added sheepishly.

Persephone gulped a bit seeing the VoidBringer.  "U-uhm, N-nice to meet you Miss Aerarnis," she said and bowed her head politely to the woman.  "Persephone, aren't you forgetting something?" Saneol said through gritted teeth as he glared up at the Sparkdrake.  "Uhm... kind of?" she said and giggled nervously.  


Saneol sighed, "Persephone, get off of my head!  You're to damn heavy and your claws are digging in my neck!"  Her gold sparks started to spark more and she meeped, "Sorry San-san!"  She got off but accidentally burned his snout with her tail.  "OW!" Saneol yelled and touched it, "what did I say about your tail!?"  "I'm even more sorry now San-san," Persephone said and held her head down ashamed and terrified.

"...these are... your... siblings..." Aerarnis said, staring from the Primal to the other two, and then, she shrugged.  "Well, Katalmach and Kalach-cha somehow had a Primal son, so I suppose it's possible," she said, sighing.  "Either way, your brother is correct--the sentinel's job, aside from patroling the borders, is to escort any intruders or visitors to the leaders... and I often prefer to do it personally," she added.

"And thankfully she seems to be in a better mood than she normally is..." Zaeyin said quietly, breathing a sigh of relief.  "But it is our Clan's protocol that you meet the leaders now, so that they can otherwise... pass judgment on your intent for being here.  I wouldn't worry too much; since our borders aren't well-marked, there are a lot of creatures who stray into our territory without knowing that they're here."

"Well, let's get going, then," Aerarnis said.  "And I guess I'd better talk to the other sentinels about setting a more... defined border to the territory above the nest..." she added.

Saneol narrowed his eyes and exhaled a bit.  I smell a trap, he thought as he followed the two other Paragons.  Persephone followed farther behind and looked around a bit curious.  This place is so peaceful and calming.  I think I might like it here if they allow me to stay, she thought and continued to look around.  

She stopped dead in her tracks however as she looked over to a large bush and vine section.  She wandered over there, leaving the group unannounced and quietly too.  She went through the bush and vined area and dissapeared.

"So let me get this straight, this so called Clan of yours is filled with other Paragons from other locations and have different positions?" Saneol said curiously.

"Yes, there are several other Paragon that live in this Clan.  There are healers, two different types of hunters--aerial and ground--den constructors, sentinels, and fighters.  Of course, there's also our leaders, but they'll be the only two till their time comes, and then, one of their children will take over," Aerarnis said as she began walking.  "Our newest members, such as Zaeyin, are not assigned a position until we've seen their skills.  I know one thing for sure--he'll never be a sentinel."

"As if I wanted to be a sentinel," Zaeyin said quietly, chuckling.  "I'd rather be a hunter."

"That will be determined at a later date, Zaeyin," Aerarnis snapped.  "Just keep up... oh, you'd best be glad that I'm in a rather GOOD mood right now..."

"A good mood?  What, are the eggs showing signs of hatching or something, Aerarnis?" Zaeyin asked.

This was answered with a firm slap to Zaeyin's face.

Saneol could not help but smirk.  "You know, since she's keeping your ass straight, I think I'm gonna like this clan when I meet the others right Persephone?"  When he didn't hear a response, Saneol turned around, "Persephone?"  His eyes went wide as he gritted his teeth.  "Damn it!  I turn away for one second and she disappears!"

There, underneath a tree, Persephone couldn't believe her eyes as she saw another Paragon.  This one was wounded a bit around the chest area.  But there was an odd feeling about this one, yes.  Why was this one, not panting or looking weak at all?  It confused the poor little Persephone.

"A-are you okay?" she said as she walked closer to the other Paragon.  The paragon looked over and smirked, "Huh, thought I would be alone.  Guess not," she said with a soft tone as the other Paragon sat up and shone through the dim light from the heavy trees.  This Paragon was wearing a golden silk hood on it's head and it wrapped around it's neck.

Zaeyin chuckled sarcastically.  Aerarnis was the strictest of the Clan Paragon, without a doubt.  The others were... more nice, so to speak.  Certainly not as strict as Aerarnis was.

"Persephone?  Where did she run off to now?" Zaeyin asked, but Aerarnis' head was turned by something else--the scent on the air.

"Of all the times for this... Zaeyin, lead your brother to the nest.  I think I've caught the scent of blood on the air, mingled with the scent of another unfamiliar Paragon," Aerarnis said, turning and running after the scent.  It did not take her long to find the two, and when she did, she stared at the Placid in surprise.

"What are you wearing on your head, and how did you come to be injured in such a manner?" she asked sternly.

"Huh, so I guess you know I'm a Placid," the Paragon said.  "P-placid!?" Persephone exclaimed as her eyes went wide as she took a few stems right behind Aerarnis.  The placid narrowed her eyes and just gave a gentle smile.  "Oh this thing on my head?  It's called a hood wrap, useful to protect my eyes from harsh sunlight," she said softly and kindly.  Persephone blinked in surprise by the Placid's manner and calm tone.  

"As for this gash, it's nothing for people to worry about.  I had better days then this one.  Besides, it's not even that deep in my skin."  

This pacid.... she seem's.... different from the others I've seen on the streets.  More... oh what's the word.  More, mature in a sense but also not afraid for a beat down, Persephone thought as she looked at the Placid with interest.  

"State your names and reason of finding me you two or else you might be my next Bounty target for me," the Placid said and smirked a bit.
