“No, I don’t think so. We don’t want to risk anyone else getting lost,” Midnight said. She was trying to remain rational and keep everyone in check, but it was getting harder and harder the longer they were there.

“If only she were still pink, we would see her right away,” Whisper said.

“Wouldn’t that be great?” Cider said sarcastically.

“S-sorry…” Whisper said.

“No, don’t be sorry, it’s okay,” Midnight reassured. “We’re all just a little cranky with everything going on. Let’s make it our top priority to find Maggie, okay? Does anyone see any clues?”

“If we knew of any, don’t you think we would have said something already?” Sunrise shouted. She was more than over all of this nonsense. She just wanted to go home and hope that when she woke up in the morning, everything would be colorful and nice again.

Tears welled up in Whisper’s eyes and she turned on her heels to run away so nobody could see her crying. Prism bolted off after her, but not before giving Sunrise a serious glare.

“Oh great, now ya made Whisper cry,” Cider grumbled. She, too, stomped off after the others.

“I… I didn’t mean to,” Sunrise took a step back as if she was walking away from the version of herself she was just a minute ago.

“We know you didn’t mean it, dear,” Inspire said, “but perhaps it’s better if  the three of us stay here in case Maggie comes back.”

“Right, and the others will still know where we are… I hope.” Midnight looked up into the canopy of the trees and wondered if they were truly lost.

Whisper could hardly see where she was running through the tears in her eyes. All she knew was that she wanted to be alone for a moment. She didn’t even realize that Prism was right in behind her until she felt herself being tackled to the ground.

“Ah! Don’t hurt me!” she squeaked, fearing the worst. For all she knew it was some kind of monster trying to eat her. She was relieved when she saw that it was just Prism, though she was still breathing intensely.

“I’m not hurting you, I’m saving you! What were you thinking, running off like that? We don’t need to lose you, too!” There was an obvious mix of pain and frustration in Prism’s voice.

“Hey you two,” Cider said, finally catching up. “I don’t mean to alarm ya, but what do you think that is?”

“What?” Prism let go of Whisper and looked over. To her surprise, she saw something green. It took her a second to realize why that was significant.

“Green!” Whisper cheered. She was so excited to see a color, and one of her favorite ones at that.

“Wait… is that you, Maggie?” Cider called out.

“Yea it’s me,” Maggie said. She sounded wobbly, like someone who was quite ill.

“How on earth did you get… green?” Prism asked.

“What? I’ m not green… oh I guess I am… Hooray!” She bounced in place with the revelation.

“Well, ya’know… that just raises further questions,” Cider said.

“It sure does.” Prism agreed.
