((Basic Charms))
Zexi looked up just in time for the packet of salt to smack him in the face. He growled in frustration but forced himself to calm down. It would do no good to get upset while trying to learn. Taking a deep breath he opened the bag of salt and began to make a highly neat and very well made circle. He wanted it to be perfect, just like everything he did. He then smiled slightly in satisfaction and raised his hand signalling that he was finished.

Falling from grace, I watch it all come apart
Knowing I could've changed it all from the start
I can't breathe, I need to break free
From the anger that is constantly inside of me

Arya

Arya swallowed, and realized that she wasn't quite sure of herself at this point.  She had to actually think in this class, and that wasn't something she really ever had to do before then.  She simply acted, and did what she had to do.  But being asked to do something on command, that wasn't so simple for her.  Sure, she'd enchanted her bow once, after her initiation into the royal scout forces, but that was all.

She almost snorted when Fenrick readily exclaimed his capability concerning the task, but then had second thoughts.  She closed her eyes and focused, channeling the flow of energy through herself, and creating a shimmering field.  Arya opened her eyes a few seconds later, and reached through the small field, and watched as the full spectrum of colors shone down on her hand.  "Hey, um, Fenrick." she whispered, then motioned down at her hand.  "What do you think?" she asked quietly, hoping to figure out if that was what she was supposed to do.

Reed

Reed made his way around the corner, and out the doors into a large courtyard with a small number of students already standing there.  "Ah, hello there!" he called out, a slightly embarrassed look on his face.  "Sorry that I'm a little late.  Are we all ready to begin?"  He turned around to face the new student behind him, smiling.  He noticed that the young man had a familar, and made a mental note to mention that and how it would affect his fighting style later on.[/align]

Mystica blinked. Wow...I actually got the question right! A small smile appeared on her face. As a witch, she was usually okay at casting and using spells and such, but when it came to the facts and theories behind magic, she tended to get lost. She listened to Professor Blue's comments on circles and salts and scribbled them down in her notebook.

After she was done, she pushed her school supplies aside and opened her salt bag. Slowly and as carefully as she could, she sprinkled the salt in a circle. It wasn't the best circle ever, but she hoped it would be sufficient. Once she got the circle down, Mystica put aside the salt bag and raised one hand, eagerly awaiting the next step.

[Basic Arcane Defense - Courtyard]

Where his friends had gone, Silas had no idea. Maybe they had managed to get lost? He really would have liked to know since they were some of the few people who had spoken to him in the short time he had been here. A quick tap from Epsilon drew his attentions from his thoughts to the other people in the class. He hadn't seen any of them in the hallway before, but the amount of people there would have made it easy to have overlooked them.

He smiled back at the professor and went to join the others. He had caught the glint in the other's eye at Epsilon, but he assumed that was just because familiars were almost a lost art in modern magics. He was, well, different, and could only assume that it would make things a bit more difficult during class.

Reed

"Well then, now that we're all here, I'd like to go ahead and just start right up!  No since in waiting now is there?" Reed said.  "Now, for those of you who might have been here last year, or who have had siblings here before, you know how this will work, but for the sake of the rest of the class, I'll go ahead and just tell you.  I'll be pairing you up after battling you each one on one..  Now, don't get those scared looks on your faces.  Geez.  C'mon you guys, I'm not going to hurt you." he said with a cheeky look on his face when he saw a couple of students backing away.  "Well then, now that I've scared about half or more of you, let's begin."

He called up each of them one by one, and they displayed their talents and experiences.  There were about four or five who handled themselves amazingly, to the point where he actually had to make sure to watch himself, but the rest seemed like they would need a little help.  Finally, he called on Silas, and motioned for him to prepare himself.  "And young sir, I realize that you have a familiar.  However, it's up to you whether or not you choose to fight with him.  Choose whatever method you believe will give you the best advantage, since that's what I'm trying to help you with."

One by one, he watched the other students step up, displaying whatever skills they happened to possess. A few seemed to push their professor, but none to the point of true danger. Still, he felt out of place. Most of his training had been in minor elemental control and a touch of alchemy. What hadn't been concentrated on the creation and understanding of his own familiar, that is. Silas found himself almost wishing more combat had been incorporated into what he learned from Master Capello.

Eventually, it was his turn, not that he was looking forward to it. It was almost as if Professor Reed knew that he dreaded the test, allowing him to go last after most of the class lost interest in the goings-on of their peers. Even with the time he had been given, he felt ill prepared, especially when compared to the rest of the class. Nevertheless, he stepped forward, sinking into the relaxed ready position he had been taught. At least some of his prior training had stuck with him this far.

"With him, sir," he said, averting his glance towards the rabbit as Epsilon lept from his shoulder to ready himself beside his master. "There isn't any other way for me."

((Sorry for taking so failingly long to respond. It's been a busy couple of days, but I'm also just forgetful and dumb.))

Advanced Enchantments

Fenrick looked over at Arya's enchantment, and nodded. "Pretty good. But hold on a second. I gotta finish my own."

Fenrick's enchanting moved at a slightly slower pace than others', but that was partially due to his focus. Fenrick used a more liquid method of envisioning magic: He constructed a cylindrical structure around his desk with his mind, and "poured" all of his magic into it. The air above his desk seemed to thicken. When Fenrick stuck his hand inside, a rainbow effect, like a beam of light caught in a prism, washed over his hand.

Rook was wandering the room, sticking his hand above desks. He put both his hands simultaneously into Fenrick and Arya's desk spaces. He smiled at both of them. "Good job, both of you," he said. "Good to see you are capable, Arya."

Fenrick whispered to her after he passed. "That's a compliment."

Basic Charms

Prof. Blue demonstrated a salt circle, making it perfect as possible using his movement magic. "Don't worry if yours doesn't look like mine," he said. "You can come up and check if you're uncertain. Anyway, what we're going to do now is put a protection in the salt. Is everyone ready?"

The jewel between his horns began to glow. "Now, everyone here knows what it's like to conjure magic, right? You feel a sort of... a sort of spark in you. At least, I do. And you direct that spark with your mind. Now, I want you to picture a bubble over the table. You've seen bubbles, big and dome-y, on the surface of a bathtub, right? Just picture it like that. The edges of your salt circle are where the bubble touches the surface of the water--er, table. And this bubble isn't like a normal bubble. It won't pop. You can slide your hands in and out of it, because you're in the water and you're wet and stuff. ...Is this making sense so far? But if someone else touches it, well, normally it'd pop if it were a normal bubble, but imagine it repelling them! If anyone who isn't 'wet' with your magic like you tries to touch it, they're just going to bounce back.

"Are you all visualizing this so far? Good. Now, I want you to sort of take this mental image, and the magic inside you, and sort of 'force' the magic into the salt. Show the salt the mental image you have by concentrating on the salt, and use your magic to send the picture inside! Do you understand?"

I'm so cool (too bad I'm a loser).
I'm so smart (too bad I can't get anything figured out)!
I'm so brave (too bad I'm a baby).
I'm so fly
That's probably why it feels just like I'm falling for the first time!

I'm so green (it's really amazing).
I'm so clean (too bad I can't get all the dirt off of me)!
I'm so sane (It's driving me crazy)!
It's so strange
I can't believe I'm falling for the first time!

Basic Charms

Mystica took in everything that Professor Blue said carefully. She wanted to make a good impression, and it wouldn't do to mess up on her first day again. She could envision the bubble on the bathtub, big, round, and shiny, with little rainbow glimmers in it. She then tried to picture such a bubble on the table, just as the teacher said to do. A bubble that only she could pass through...

Mystica could feel the magic welling up inside of her. She squinted at her salt ring and attempted to project her mental image onto the circle. She thought she could see something shimmer around her salt circle, but she wasn't sure since it only lasted a split second. But the girl felt like she did it correctly, she glanced around at her other classmates, wondering how they were doing... Perhaps she should ask someone to come up and test her "bubble" out?
