[Open!] Dying of boredom, surrounded by fun

(Ssssh. Ssshhhh. There are totally Purine Choopas. Totally. Shhhhhh. Just join her.)

The festival was in full swing, but how many people visited their booth? Next to none. Why stop by an army's booth and sign up to maybe be thrown in to war some day when you could run around enjoying yourself instead? Sure, they'd gotten a few new recruits coming through, but it almost wasn't worth the time for her to waste away in her opinion. Eventually, her skull crashed down upon the desk and she let out an exasperated sigh. "No mooooore," she cried out, face rolling back and forth against the desk and feet kicking the inside. She'd seemed rather collected when there are potential new members around, but perhaps the final straw had snapped and she could take no more.

Drawing in a deep breath, the pale woman sat back up and started looking around. "Alright. There's got to be something I can leave the desk for for just like... five minutes or something, right? Surely no one would show up in those five minutes and I could bring back something with me to keep me busy."

The cyber fellox sniffed around as he went about the festival. So far nothing useful could be obtained information wise for the imperial and it was beginning to get on his nerves. Suddenly he spotted it, the recruitment table. With a sly grin he headed over to the booth and put his paws up on the desk.

"Hello there, miss. I was wondering if you could tell me more about the recruitment process. I was so terribly confused the other day when trying to sign up. Any information at all would be wonderful."

His gears whirred loudly as he scanned the papers on the desk, committing it all to memory and up-linking it to the database he had created specifically for the imperials. His bright violet eyes looked back up at the woman only seconds later and he grinned wider as his tails swished back and forth.

While looking around, Tarie hadn't particularly paid attention to the front of her own booth. The next time she looked forward she was suddenly face to face with a Cyber Fellox with its paws on the desk. The shock of suddenly seeing what was typically a pretty fearsome beast caused her to jump back slightly, her chair almost turning over on her before it managed to stabilize itself again. Her hands slammed against the desk as she was jarred forward when the chair righted itself, her face almost coming down to meet the desk again as well.

Her eyes took to his paws and grew wider before she started to frantically grab papers. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, buddy! Paws, flames. Papers. Papers. They'll catch fi- ....." There was a sudden pause as she went completely silent and just stared at the Fellox for a few minutes. Slowly, she put the papers back down and let out and audible, "Huh." None of the papers had cause fire, and despite his paws still being on the desk, it was completely fire free.

"Well then," she started out, clearing her throat. "I must look completely silly now. So, uh... you wanted to know about the recruitment process? Well, really right now we're just getting people to sign up, which is literally just filling out some paperwork. I doubt we'll actually need anyone to do anything other than volunteer work for the festival, so we haven't been worrying about any physical tests or anything."

She slid one of the papers back toward him before continuing, "We just have people provide a bit of information about themselves. You know, name, address, gender. Just the basics so we can contact them about their choice to join us. Are you thinking about joining as well?"

((-interrupts everything-))

Captain was, if anything, tired of slinking around this place. He liked the festival well enough, but the air combat specialist didn't have the connection to these people that Jesse did. Not yet anyway. Of all the group, he was a loner more than the rest, hence why he had slid away.

The rest of the warriors had gone back to watching the performances, but the human-form Garudor had no real interest in it. He was more concerned with getting a move on all this battle stuff. That's why he had wandered back toward the sign-up booth, hands jammed in his pockets, bomber jacket splayed open to show off the wrinkled tan shirt beneath. He had a few questions he wanted to ask that lady from earlier.

As he drew nearer, Captain caught sight of blue flames and glimpses of silver fur through the gaps in the shifting crowd. He threaded through the throng and gave the woman by the desk a friendly smile. She looked stressed out already, and whoever this Cyber Fellox was gave him an uneasy feeling. Maybe it was just the half machine nature of the things, since he didn't tend to trust the coldness of gears, but he felt it necessary to lean against the desk in a way that he could easily put himself between the recruiter and the automaton.

She was a little busy, but that wasn't about to stop him from interrupting, not when she was dealing with a shady guy like that Fellox. "You look stressed," he commented, glancing sideways at the fox before returning his gaze to the woman. "Maybe you need to get out and enjoy this festival a bit more. Is there someone who could take over for you, another recruiter perhaps?" And people said he didn't know how to be chivalrous.

The fellox cackled, the sound hallow and metallic, before composing himself and smiling again. Of course nothing would set on fire, unless he willed it. He thought everyone knew that. Otherwise all the cyber fellox in the world would burn everything to the ground. Oh well, he guessed it must not be common knowledge then.

"Hehehe no need to worry about the fire. I can control it. It only burns things when I will it to. Also that is much simpler than it seemed yesterday. I must have just gotten things mixed up in my head again. Hehehe."

Talcen glanced over at the newer comer and resisted the urge to glare at him. How dare he interrupt his highly important mission with, with such simple talk! It was frivolous and completely against what the woman's job was. Never the less he had to play cool and act normal.

He smiled crookedly at the man and nodded in greeting. "Hello there, sir. Are you in the army already? Would you mind telling me more about it? I really would like to know exactly what I'm signing up for."

While the Fellox was in the middle of explaining that he could control the fire, which she'd pretty much gathered when she realized the papers hadn't caught fire, it seemed as though another person had come to the booth to possibly join. Or maybe they were already a member? She didn't recognize the face, but the vast majority of people she'd seen so far had been dressed up for the festival, so they'd been wearing masks. He could have easily been by the booth before without her remembering him.

"Oh. Uhm... Stressed?" It started out as a question, but led away as she continued to talk, "Not really stressed I guess. Just... ah... boooored maybe?" She couldn't quite figure out how to phrase it, and she wasn't sure if she'd get in trouble if she told people she was bored recruiting them. Hearing the Fellox's question to the newcomer though, she smiled and blurted out, "I could tell you both all about the army if you'd like. Though, really it might not sound as exciting as it seems." Tarie paused for a moment to look around again before taking a piece of paper and starting to write something on it, "I mean... If I were to guide people around and tell them about us, that'd still count as doing my job and I could enjoy the festival!"

Captain stared at the Fellox for a moment, highly confused by the laughter. This guy was making himself extremely awkward; a bit suspicious, too, if he did say so himself. Maybe the guy was just the run-of-the-mill crazy, but it still weirded him out. Besides, wasn't there something against having crazy people in the army? He knew he didn't want to be the one with a weapon-wielding maniac beside him in the middle of a fight, unsure of whether the guy was going to stop swinging after their opponent was dead.

"How about you come around the festival with... us," he suggested, though he really didn't want to take along the Fellox, "and we could just say you were telling us about the army the whole time? There'll be plenty of time for all that technical stuff if and when the fighting breaks out, eh? Besides, a pretty lady like you shouldn't have to spend the entire festival concerning herself with battle plans." He wanted to steer clear of the topic of fighting for now, at least until he could better gauge this crazy guy.

"The name's Captain, by the way. And your's is..?" He glanced to the mechanical fox, signaling that he was welcome to answer that if he wanted to as well.

(Captain, shush, stop reading him so well. You'll learn all his secrets that way. And he just laughs cause he likes laughing.)

Alright, now the guy was seriously getting on Talcen's nerves. He needed the information and he needed it now, not after the battle has started, but now. Forcing himself to keep up the act, he continued to smiled and nodded in agreement.

"Yes, spending time at the festival would be very fun."

Yeah, right. More like agonizingly painful for the fellox. All this happy-go-lucky stuff was enough to make the fellox want to scream. But he had to play it cool, he had to act "normal".

"You may call me Talcen. It is a pleasure to meet you both."

Her hand paused for a moment after finishing the letters for 'gone to' as she seemed to be thinking about something to put after that. Eventually she finally finished it off with 'lunch' since that could be a typical excuse for being away and also wrote down that she would be back later. The festival lasted for a long while, so... surely anyone that missed her while she was out would have time to come back and sign up if they really wanted to. She also decided to leave some papers out for people to look at if they wanted to learn a bit.

It didn't take long before she was hanging the piece of paper, during which she tried to hide the fact that her face became slightly flush at the mention of a 'pretty lady.' It wasn't often she got compliments, typically because people became easily unsettled by her eyes. Tarie did her best to keep her head level though and finished putting the paper up before walking around to the other side of the desk.

"The name is Tarie! It's nice to meet both of you, and I hope we can have lots of fun!"

Captain watched as Tarie out together her sign; lunch sounded like a good idea actually since he hadn't had anything to eat since early this morning. She seemed genuinely excited about the prospect of getting to spend some time out and about instead of just hanging around this booth the entire time, but the Fellox showed quite a bit less enthusiasm. Ah, well. The guy would either get over it and have a good time or give up and leave. Either one suited him.

"Tarie, Talcen. Alright." He gave a little nod and smile. "I haven't actually had much of a chance to go around the festival, so I don't really know what's what. Any ideas on what we should go do?"

"I saw one of those fishing games not long ago. The one where you use the little paper nets," the fellox suggested. If he was going to be forced to go about doing pointless stuff, then he may as well do something he thought was slightly entertaining. He wouldn't admit it but watching the little golden fish in the tanks swimming round and round was soothing.

"And, uh, I guess we could go get food too, around here?" Not that he needed to eat, but it was something to do and a good way to get people to open up more. People always seemed to talk when they were eating.

"Ohhh. Yeah! They do have those little fishing booths. Oh man, I've always been terrible at them," She picked up the conversation easily, starting to just walk since she had seen the maps for the layout of the festival during set-up and knew where to find the particular booth mentioned. "I swear it's like they weaken the nets somehow. I don't think I've been able to ever catch one and I feel like I always try at least ten times. It's just pathetic! Then again, it's not like I have a place to keep a fish anyways"

Her gaze moved back to the others, a wide smile across her face that showed she was genuinely happy to be out and about. She did feel slightly like she was just abandoning her job, but on the other hand surely she couldn't stay there the entire time. She did need to eat, which was quickly brought to mind with the last comment from the Fellox. She paused the talk about fish, standing still to think for a few moments. "I do think I know where some good food stands are as well... Which would you guys like to do?"

"Food sounds good," Captain said idly, trying his best to ignore the fact that half of his present company was, in fact, machinery. And that the machinery was suggesting that they go get food. What was he going to get, an order of harddrive with a can of oil? At least the other normal person in the group was happy about what was going on.

He did have some knowledge of the fishing game they mentioned, though. The fact that they made the nets out of paper was what made it so difficult. Speed and skill were both the key to winning if he recalled correctly. Then again, he hadn't seen or played carnival games since he was a child. Should be fun, actually, and he didn't want to pass it up. "My vote is food, then see about those fishing games."

Talcen nodded in agreement then with the two and began to head off towards the nearest stand with food. "I hope one of these stands has some tea or cola. I haven't had a decent drink in ages." Boy would those two be surprised when he changed form before their eyes. He wasn't just stuck as a fellox. He could choose whatever form he desired, he just preferred this form.

He stretched and had his flames die down until they were barely smouldering. Talcen then turned to face the other two. "I hope you don't mind but I'd appreciate if we went somewhere secluded for a moment before we ate. I need to do something and it may cause some people to panic if they haven't seen such an action before."
