When Vastra was first conceived and awakened, he did not know the meaning of hunger. Rythulians did not tend to feed, but rather survive off of the light of the sun and the pulsing, warm energy of each other. But not only had it been cloudy most days, as well as the fact that he was the last of his kind, this new corporeal body had some needs that Vastra didn't quite know how to address. Or even begin to speak to ask someone how to help the clawing pain in his stomach.Vastra was hungry, but he didn't quite know what that meant. But after padding along the sidewalk of this new town, his feet numb with cold, and tingly from lack of food, he blinked up at a particular store that had some unreadable words on it. For some reason, he liked the warmth it gave off, and as the smell of fresh bread hit his nose, he knew he had to go in there. Whatever that smell was, it awakened something in the pit of his stomach that sounded like a tiger--had he known what a tiger was--and it propelled him through the door at an alarming speed. He had figured out how doorknobs worked in the past, and he was proud for that fact. He opened it and poked his head inside, then pushed the door open, going stock still with surprise as the bell above him dinged, his head snapping up to stare at it with blank, light grey eyes.
