Cody chuckled at that, nodding in agreement. "I-I wouldn't put it past them, honestly," he mumbled, chewing and swallowing. He sighed softly, gazing at the screen for a moment, then flicking to Zane in his peripheral vision. Cody dug his teeth at his lower lip slightly in quiet thought, and after a moment of hesitation he shifted a smidgeon closer to Zane, pressing his shoulder and side gently against Zane's. Already his heart was speeding up rapidly in his chest, so he tried to focus on eating, but he hoped his silent message reached Zane that he didn't want to entirely drop the previous subject. He wasn't sure how to verbally express anything regarding how he felt about Zane, but the warmth collecting between them settled his soul and brought a soft smile to his face.

Zane nearly choked on his bite of pizza, but he managed to swallow it down without alerting Cody to the fact that the sudden touch had startled him. He glanced down at Cody's blonde hair, his heartbeat speeding up considerably in his chest. Oh... he was leaning on Zane. Taking another bite of pizza so that he wouldn't blurt out anything and embarrass himself again, Zane focused back on the movie. Or tried to. He was a little preoccupied with the challenge of gently leaning back against Cody without seeming like he was pushing Cody away. Because, really, the warm touch was quite nice.

Cody tensed slightly in alarm as Zane nearly choked, then relaxed again, inwardly glad Zane wasn't saying anything about it. To talk about it would only embarrass them both, and this was entirely foreign territory to Cody. Sure, he'd seen plenty of 'chick flicks' and romance movies and books to know how love blossomed and all of that, but trying it in practice was far different, he knew. Cody let out a soft breath, relaxing against Zane, his heart thudding softly in his chest. He took a few more bites of pizza, then put his unfinished crust on the plate and leaned forward just long enough to set it on the table before returning to his place at Zane's side, his cheeks warming with a new shyness. He stared at the screen for a moment, then flicked his eyes at Zane's face, then back to the screen before sighing a little hum out his nose and leaning his head on Zane's shoulder, trying out the new contact. It made his heart race, but... it felt right. It felt righter than anything, right then, he thought, a small, excited-but-content smile on his face.

Zane was silent, munching on his slice of pizza, crust and all, until nothing remains. He wasn't paying much attention to the movie, at this point. The warmth coming from Cody's skin and body was much more distracting. He could feel Cody breathing, the gentle rise and fall against him. Zane shifted slightly, hopefully making his shoulder a bit more comfortable for Cody. It was kind of good; this way, Cody wouldn't see the obvious flush on Zane's face. Blinking fast, Zane moved his hand, careful not to disturb Cody's head, and brushed his fingers against Cody's hand.

Cody found himself growing just the slightest bit sleepy on Zane's shoulder, as if the soft adrenaline rush from the situation was tiring him out. He drew in a soft breath of surprise as he felt Zane's fingers brush the back of his hand, and he flushed, staring down at their hands. The difference in size was almost startling; while Cody's fingers were long and delicate, almost feminine, Zane's were strong and just the slightest bit calloused. He smiled a little wider at that, then lifted his hand to rest on top of Zane's. After a second of hesitation that didn't last long to be worth anything, he slid his fingers between Zane's, fitting them into the spaces and gently squeezing. Oh, what was happening in the movie? It looked intense... Cody supposed so, anyway. His mind had been completely removed from the dialogue and action for the last few minutes.

Zane let out a slow breath, watching as Cody's pale fingers slid perfectly against his own. He smiled, his cheeks feeling so hot, and then he glanced at Cody, his smile growing even brighter. "U-um..." his voice was quiet, as if he didn't want to break the spell they were under. He wasn't even paying the movie any attention. "I-I like... holding hands with you," he murmured, his fingers tightening on Cody's slightly.

Cody's eyelashes fluttered in surprise as Zane spoke, his fingers twitching slightly on Zane's hand. He slowly turned his head to rest his chin on Zane's shoulder, staring up at Zane's face with wide blue eyes, until a smile wormed its way over his face. "M-me, too..." he said softly, then flushed, clearing his throat and glancing away sheepishly. "I-I mean... with you, not... with me... h-holding hands with myself would be s-silly..." Cody blinked, realizing his hold on Zane's hand had become a little too tight, and his palm was growing a little sweaty against Zane's hand. Slowly, he looked back up at Zane, the light from the laptop barely reflecting off his glasses. "Um," he began after a moment, his lips moving just barely as if he was trying to think of something to say. What even to say, in that situation? How to respond...? "I-I'm... I'm really... awful with words, s-sometimes," he began in a whisper, thankful for the background noise of the movie to make his words seem smaller. "B-but... I-I really like you, too, Zane. R-really... really."

Zane's eyes grew wide for a moment, and the world seemed to grow still for Zane. He stared at Cody's face for a moment, then swallowed, his hand tightening on Cody's. "Y-yeah?" He managed to get out, his throat feeling a little tight. He grinned from ear to ear, his heart thudding loud in his ears. "That's great..." He let out a chuckle, ducking his head for a moment. "That's... really, really great."

Cody felt like he was getting sucked into Zane's brown gaze, his heart beating faster and harder and louder until his face broke into a soft smile, a breathless little chuckle almost lost behind a character shouting on the laptop. Cody closed his lips, embarrassed at grinning so suddenly, and he ducked his head for a moment, licking his lips in thought. In thought... what did he want to do? What was he about to say...? Should he... even... "I..." he began, his voice cracking, and he cleared his throat, barely raising his eyes to meet Zane's, staring up at him through blond bangs. "I-I... I'm... I've never k-k... kissed... anyone before, a-and I... but... but I want to kiss you, now," he said softly, the last few words ending in a rush, and he ducked his head, swallowing audibly. "I-if it's okay. I mean--I-I don't even know--I just... I've... I've wanted... to..."

Cody's words took Zane by surprise, and he paused for a moment, trying to process what was happening. Kiss? They were going to kiss now? He blinked at Cody, his face flushing a deep red, and he slowly nodded his head. "I-I want... to kiss you too. If that's alright." He paused, then grinned, a sheepish look on his face. "Does... this mean we're together? Like, um, together together?"

Cody's eyes widened at that, at everything Zane had said. He processed the words slowly, and he swallowed, his heartbeat clogging his throat. "A-ah..." he began, his shoulders hunching slightly as he considered the facts. Together... Cody's face slowly took on a deep red shade behind his glasses. "I-I've... never been 'together' with anyone, b-before..." he whispered, then jumped as someone screamed on the movie. He stared at the screen, then leaned over to pause it with his free hand, his other hand still gripping Zane's tight. The sudden silence that engulfed the room was stifling, and Cody was fairly sure Zane could hear his heartbeat hammering like a drum in his chest. "S-so... I don't really know what it means to be 'together.' B-but... e-even though I've only known you for a few days I just, I-I can't stop thinking about you. Oh, god, that's cheesy--but," Cody let out a heavy huff of air, his hand going to rub at his face, making his glasses go askew as he hid behind a hand. "B-but it's true, like... I-I... I knew I was gay but this is ridiculous," he added with a short, breathless laugh, angling his face away and running a hand through his hair. "I-I don't know how to handle myself here... I'm sorry..."

Zane blinked as Cody turned off the movie, and he focused on Cody's face a bit better. He could see the flush on Cody's pale skin, and their hands were getting so warm it was almost uncomfortable. He swallowed, his heart skipping a beat in his chest. He smiled, then nodded his head slightly. "To be honest... it feels a lot like, um, love at first sight. Wh-when we first met, and started talking, I just... it was just really comfortable being around you. B-but, um, recently... I've been wanting to hold your hand, o-or be close to you, somehow..." Zane smiled, looking sheepish, and he gently squeezed Cody's hand. "I've felt this way for boys and girls, b-but you're the first that... I've felt so strongly about so soon..."

Love, huh? Cody drew in a soft breath at that, his heart kicking up speed in his chest and then suddenly slowing down in realization. Love. Was that it, then? Was this more than just a crush? Cody had had crushes before, but they'd all been fleeting or dashed to the rocks in other ways, but this... this felt different. Cody's fingers shifted on Zane's hand, and he barely rubbed a thumb over the side of Zane's hand, his eyes going a little doey. He nodded slowly in understanding. "L-love at first sight, huh..." he whispered, his voice barely audible, but the lack of movie noise certainly helped. Cody raised his eyes to look at Zane, a small smile adding to his bewildered expression. "Th-that makes me really happy, Zane," he said with a small chuckle, his face growing hot with a sheepish flush. He brought one hand up to tuck a piece of hair behind his ear, though it only slipped out and fell to frame his cheek again, then finally straightened up just a little. "That... m-makes me happier than you know. Um... I've... I-I feel the same way. Like, the exact same. Y-you took the words out of my mouth," he mumbled, keeping his eyes locked on their hands, unable to fully meet Zane's gaze.

"Really?" Zane breathed, his voice coming out a little squeaky. He grinned from ear to ear, feeling as if his chest was about to burst. He chuckled, completely beside himself with happiness. "Wow... this turned out so much better than I thought it would be. I'm glad I confessed, now. It––it kinda just came right out without me thinking about it." Zane shrugged his shoulders, then beamed down at Cody. His eyes softened for a moment, and he lost himself in Cody's blue eyes, then he sighed, leaning forward to press his forehead against Cody's shoulder. "This is great," he mumbled, voice a little muffled.

"O-oh, really?" Cody laughed, his eyes lighting up. "I-it... it did seem pretty sudden..." he trailed off, blinking as he locked eyes with Zane. He almost opened his mouth to speak, when suddenly Zane leaned forward and rested his head on Cody's shoulder. Cody stiffened, then let out a breath as he relaxed, his shoulder barely shifting under Zane's forehead. His heart swelled with a sudden affection--this tended to happen at certain moments, when Zane said a certain thing or did something in such a way, or maybe it happened all the time and was becoming second nature. Mustering up his courage, Cody turned his face slightly, bringing one hand up to touch the opposite side of Zane's face as he lightly touched his lips to Zane's cheek. Make no mistake, Cody didn't know how to kiss. Perhaps he'd practiced before when he was younger, in all the ways a single teenage boy could, but all of it was lost to him, now. He tilted his head and pressed another, more sure kiss against Zane's temple, then let out a breath and hid his face in Zane's hair, the only thing available to hide in at that time as his free arm went around Zane's neck in a kind of loose hug. "S-sorry... that was... s-sudden, too, wasn't it..."
