Cody smiled at the tentative promise of a concert, his face flushing with a pleased expression. Cody's fingers lightly trailed in small circles on a spot on Zane's back, watching the fabric move beneath his fingers, his heartbeat thumping against Zane's ribcage. He wondered if Zane could feel it, and a big part of him hoped that was the case. "Mmhm," Cody murmured in response, his lips pulling back in a small grin, and he finally let up, walking on his knees over to where Zane's face was, and put his chin on the couch, peering at Zane's face with a mischievous expression. "I don't mind taking that job."

Zane shifted slightly as Cody moved, turning his head to watch Cody move around. He shifted up on his forearms to have a little height, a hint of a smile on his face. It was hard not to smile when Cody was looking at him like that. Leaning forward, Zane pressed his lips to Cody's forehead, grinning. "If you ever need a massage, I'll be happy to return the favor."

Cody made a small hum of contentment as Zane kissed him, his heart speeding up about four times in his chest, then relaxed, his eyes lidding with a smile. He blinked at Zane's words, expression changing a bit. "Ah... oh, well," he began, looking a little flustered, a sheepish smile worming over his face. "Y-you don't have to..." he murmured, hunching his shoulders and shrugging before lightly pressing his forehead to Zane's shoulder, sighing. "B-but thanks..." After a moment, Cody leaned away, smiling at Zane. "C'mon; l-let's go ahead and start making the food, and put it in the fridge 'til we're ready to go out."

Zane brushed his hand against Cody's shoulder as Cody leaned towards him, a fond smile growing on his face. What had it been--just two days? Already, it felt so natural. It wasn't rushed, or anything, not in a sexual way. Jeez, Zane flushed just thinking about it. But there wasn't any pressure on either side. All of the casual touches and fleeting stares came naturally and every time they caught the other, their hearts warmed and they couldn't help but laugh. Zane sighed, pushing himself up into a sitting position. "Sounds good," he said with a yawn. His bare feet padded into the kitchen, and he shivered as his feet brushed against the cold tile. "Uh... sandwiches? Does that sound good?"

Cody looked up as Zane sat up, his smile growing, and he got up to follow Zane into the kitchen, standing on his toes slightly, as if wanting to try to meet Zane's height. Sock feet weren't exactly for that, though, so he sank back down to his normal height and grinned. "Yeah, sandwiches sound great," he said, reaching up into the cupboard, murmuring something about needing to go to the store soon. He pulled out a half loaf of bread and set it down, then glanced at Zane with a smile. "See what's in the fridge; I-I'm sure we can make a sandwich out of something in there."

"Okay," Zane replied, heading towards the fridge. He peered inside, then pulled out the ham and cheese. "Ham and cheese, ham and cheese. Gimme that, ham and cheese." Zane bobbed his head in time with the beat as he began to freestyle about his favorite type of sandwich. He trailed off with a laugh, then moved back over to Cody, his face pink at his own silliness.

Cody watched Zane with raised eyebrows, a smile slowly spreading over his face, and he turned his face away to stifle a giggle, his shoulders shaking up and down. "H-ham and cheese sounds good," he chuckled, getting out several pairs of bread slices and placing them on plates, then handed them off to Zane. "You like mayonnaise at all? Oh, a-and drinks too," he said, bustling around the kitchen like a fluttering bird, seeming to want to go in three different directions at once. This really was exciting, being able to go out on a picnic. Cody was fairly certain it had been years since he'd one that, at least with another person.

"Not with ham," Zane replied, taking the sandwiches in both hands. He waited for a moment, watching Cody flutter about the kitchen. Then he carefully put the plates back where they were before, not sure what else to do with it. Grinning, Zane watched Cody, then began to assemble the ham and cheese on the bread slices. "And just water is fine with me. So where do you want to go for our picnic? I don't have a car, so I dunno if we can go to any of the big parks."

Cody made a small noise in response, leaving the mayonnaise in the fridge and instead getting two water thermoses from the top cabinet, which looked like they hadn't been used in awhile. Cody went to the sink and began washing them out, thinking. "Well, e-even though I've been here a couple of years, I don't get out much. S-so I don't really know anywhere that nice..." Cody paused, looking rueful for a moment before he looked at Zane with a small smile. "Oh, um... w-what about going to one of those hiking trails nearby? I bet we could find a place to sit and eat... i-if you'd be up for it."

"I think I know one. Haven't been on it in awhile, so it'll be an adventure." Zane grinned, then wrapped the sandwiches in cellophane wrap. Sandwiches neatly bundled, Zane stepped away, turning to look at Cody. "If you don't mind taking over on the food, I'm gonna get my backpack and start packing stuff. First aid kit, and all that. Backpacking is nice, because you get in the habit of preparing for every natural disaster ever." Zane chuckled, heading out towards the main room.

"Ah, sure thing," Cody said with a smile, his eyes gleaming at the thought of being able to go hiking with Zane. He picked up the wrapped sandwiches and set them both safely in a tupperware container, lining it with some paper towels, and carried that into his bedroom where his backpack sat slumped against the foot of the bed. He hadn't used it in quite awhile, he thought, smiling at the faded green thing that he'd used back in highschool. His smile fell slightly, before he shook the thoughts out of his head and knelt down beside it, opening it up. He frowned, realizing there were still some things inside, and he carefully took out an old library book--whoops--and a binder full of messy notebook paper, everything sporting a soft layer of dust that not even the backpack zipper could have protected from.

Once the food was loaded, he shouldered the backpack and carefully kicked his two-some-odd year old schoolthings under the bed, and darted back into the living room, full of energy.

Zane was sitting on the couch, his backpack already stuffed with supplies and on his back. He was bent over, looping his shoelaces into loose knots. Glancing up at Cody as the smaller boy entered, Zane's eyes softened. "Ready to go? We've got plenty of daylight." Zane stood up, adjusting the backpack on his shoulders, then reached out a hand for Cody's. He liked holding Cody's hand. It was so small and thin, compared to his, but it was so comforting to just lace his fingers in between Cody's. It was one of the best things so far about this relationship.

Cody smiled as he met Zane's eyes, a little flutter moving through his chest. He reached out to take Zane's hand, thin fingers slipping into the spaces between Zane's. He sighed softly, heart thumping at the soft callouses on Zane's fingers, and he averted his eyes, looking sheepish as his cheeks turned a bit pink. "E-even so, I'm not a fast walker, s-so we should get a move on," he chuckled, stepping closer to Zane and bouncing on his toes. "If only the trolley ran on Sunday... ah well."

"The buses always run," Zane added, heading towards the door. He held it open for Cody, then waited as he locked up, free hand in his pocket. He smiled as they walked towards the stairwell, and he took them at a slower pace, not his usual two at a time. "But it shouldn't be that far to walk, really. Think of it as hiking the streets, or something." Zane chuckled as they walked out of the apartment building. He was glad for the hat on his head, the wind was pretty cold, even though a weak sun was out. "Oh, I brought ponchos for us, just in case it starts drizzling."

Cody looked up at that, squinting against the brisk wind at Zane, and grinned, nodding his head. "G-good planning," he chuckled, lightly bumping into Zane's arm with his own. "If it were up to me I would've just left without anything and gotten soaked." He paused, smiling to himself, then suddenly kept rambling. "And then I would've probably gotten sick, and then where would I be? Laid up in bed and no one to cook breakfast for you," he said with raised eyebrows in Zane's direction, before a sheepish giggle escaped him. "Kidding..." he murmured, leaning his head on Zane's shoulder, forgetting to be self conscious as they passed a few people on the sidewalk, who thankfully seemed to pay them no mind. Cody was grateful for his long hair and thin features, sometimes.
