“Do you know anything about the mist?” Apollo asked.

“No. A little, but they are only stories,” the Stargazer said. “Normally the mist comes in following or preceding a strange sort of being. They are in parts of legends, some kind of guardian spirit or being. I have never heard of the mist sticking around, or pooling as it is,” they said. “In the short while it has been appearing it has been making people act strange, but that could be because of the situation and not because of any side effects the mist brings,” they explained.

[Sarah]

“How do you know all of that?” Apollo asked. He hadn’t heard about any of it. The collection of knowledge his people were gathering was growing every day, but he had never heard of any legend like that.

“I’ve had the time and means to gather information about this world. The legend is obscure, and I don’t even know if it is related to the mist that has appeared now,” the Stargazer said. They looked as disappointed as the twins felt.

[Sarah]

“So, you don’t know anything about it,” Artemis said. It was a bit disappointing, but not why they had come. They had come to make sure one of their own was safe, and to offer a place for them if needed. Knowing this Stargazer would not be joining them was almost doubly disappointing. It felt like they had wasted their energy. Although Artemis supposed it was good to know that the reports were not wrong, and that their family was doing well.

[Sarah]

“Eh – no,” the Stargazer admitted. “There’s some conjecture, but I haven’t talked to anyone that knows anything solid,” they said.

“We need to go before the sun returns,” Apollo said, turning to Artemis. They had hit a sort of dead end here, but they would be able to keep watch over the being they found. It was better than coming and finding that the being they were looking for was dead or gone. Now they needed to return before the sun blocked them from leaving at all.

[Sarah]

Artemis hummed in agreement. “You will always have a place among us should you change your mind,” she said. The Stargazer only nodded, and the twins took their leave. This mist would no doubt be a focus of their people. The mist looked like it was made of star-stuff. Hopefully they would be tasked with learning more about it. Chasing down leads over and over did get boring. At least they could return with some information about the mist, even if the connection between the legend and the mist that has appeared now was unstable.
