"Alright son, you ready to do this?" Tenebrae asked his very eager child after he set down a stool against the kitchen counter, and they had already gotten into position to start doing something top secret. Not even the annoying Psyche or Faolán knew what the little duo were currently up to. Which when it came to those two, along with his kid usually hanging out with his friends a lot of the time, it wasn't even easy to find the right time to have this space all themselves.

Today, they were going to do some cooking!

For Lavi, the small lion cub that had climbed up onto the stool, he was really looking forward to doing this. He'd never cooked anything before! "Yeah!" In a burst of excitement, he shouted out his reply cheerfully. But then Tenebrae leaned toward him, with a clawed finger resting against his mouth. "Shh!" While his father had been quick about shushing him, and the suddenness of it caused Lavi to clamp a paw over his own mouth, the action itself was done with a gentleness that he reserved only for Lavi.

"Not so loud! We don't want to others catchin' wind of this!" A lot of effort had gone into making sure nobody would bother them, so the last thing he wanted was for somebody to hear and just come barging in uninvited. This time, in a much quieter voice, Lavi removed his paw and whispered, "sorry!" He didn't mean to be so loud, it just happened that way.

It looked like his father at least understood, and nodded back at his apology. "Okay, now all we need to do is start by following this recipe."

Tenebrae reached over for a card he'd left on the counter earlier, and brought it closer for Lavi to examine. Since it would be the first time that his son would get to try this, he had gone and found a recipe for cake that they could bake together. Nothing too fancy or super complicated, just a simple vanilla cake. When it was brought down to his eye level, Lavi gave the recipe a quick glance. He let out a small gasp the second he read the word 'cake'. "Oh boy!" Delight gleamed brightly in his green eyes as he looked up at Tenebrae. He loved cake!

"We're gonna make a cake!" Lavi's excitement was just about to become overwhelming as he started shift from fidgeting, to bouncing around on the stool. "Let's make it already! Hurry!" The extra noise he was making now would've been annoying, if he hadn't looked as cute as he did with those wide baby eyes. This time Tenebrae had to place a hand on his head to try and get him to sit still. "We will, don't worry! Try to be patient!"

He actually needed a moment to try and memorize the recipe himself, but it looked like he was gonna have to be quick. Otherwise Lavi might just explode from the waiting.

So they were going to need some of the most obvious basic stuff, like the flour, eggs, and sugar. Along with a few extra bits. "Okay... Come help me bring over some of the ingredients we need." Putting the card back down, he turned to head over to where they kept things. Little Lavi was quick about following his dad, and darted over to the cupboard. Opening one of them, Tenebrae rummaged around to grab a few things, including a large cup for Lavi to take. "Here. Get me some sugar, I'll take care of the flour and stuff."

"Okay dad!" Now given a job to do, Lavi went and started pawing at the door to one of the cabinets. Getting his large paw around the handle, he managed to pull it open. Inside was where he happened to know where the sugar was usually kept. It was inside a container with a lid, and all he really needed to do was lift that up to get out the sugar. It wasn't too difficult, which was clear when he brought it out and tried to maneuver it around to pour the white granules into the cup. But when you were just a beast without thumbs, it wasn't always gonna be a perfect job. Which was evident based on the few tiny piles of sugar that got spilled around in the process.

After he thought he had gotten enough from the container to put it down, Lavi only then realized the mess he ended up making by mistake. Looking all around him, he even got some stuck in the fur on his paws. "Oops..." Luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but this clearly was going to have to be cleaned up, that he knew.

"You got the sugar yet?" Tenebrae would ask, his back turned as he was putting a lot of stuff down onto the counter.

"Oh! Yes!" Remembering that he had been doing something else, Lavi stood up and grabbed the cup between his teeth. Ambling over to bring it to his father. "Here!" Holding it up proudly, he let it go once Tenebrae had turned to take it from him. "Perfect! Thank you."

The mess he'd made with the sugar would be quickly forgotten, along with the container still sitting out on the floor, as Lavi really didn't want to miss a single moment.

"Hehe." Super happy that he had his job well, Lavi was grinning from ear to ear. Quickly he would then hurry up onto the stool to lean on the counter. His attention focused intensely on what Tenebrae would do now.

In the time it had taken Lavi to complete his task, Tenebrae had done quick work with bring out all the tools and other ingredients they needed. Which he hadn't even really noticed as he saw all kinds of things on the counter now. Alright, let's see what's next..." Tenebrae mumbled as he picked up the recipe card again.
